Merchant Of Bishopsgate Freehouse & Kitchen

This is a decent bar/restaurant within Liverpool Street station (platform 1 end of the station). Food is tasty but expensive for what it is, even at London railway station prices. Paid £15 for a chicken burger meal. Portion size quite small. No side salad etc, literally just the burger and small amount of chips. The advertised "avocado" in the burger was guacamole (which I like, but it wasn't as advertised). Service was quick and efficient at the bar but slow to clear dirty plates and glasses. Has a nice, relaxing ambience.

Lovely cosy atmosphere although the price is a bit too much... £3.20 for a fairly ordinary latte... Having said that it's the perfect place to chill and relax; a variety of seats wet nooks to sit in, soft lighting... Despite the price, I still love to escape in there! I've never tried the main food but it always looks fresh and people look happy... Again good but a little over priced, probably reflecting the location.

Decent place to grab a drink or for meetings. During the day (before 5.30pm) it's usually fairly quiet but after it does get a bit packed. Prices of drinks are not ridiculous. The only issue is that the staff are pretty slow and if you are unlucky you could end up with the one who cannot understand you (not being rude but someone asked for strawberries and she had no clue what the person wanted. Had to get another member of staff) apart from that a decent place. Quite lively too.

One of my favourite little places to go if a long wait for trains out of Liverpool Street are delayed. Dependent on when you go, it can be super busy - so a queue for drinks and nowhere to sit can be expected. Other than that, service is typically good, food is well prepared and tasty, simple menu and budget friendly. x
