Superb staff, excellent wine list, very decent food. Simply the best french wine bar not in Paris... (and perhaps with a broader selection of Vins)

What a delightful find!! A must stop to avoid the typical pub scene and have a casually sophisticated experience!! Great wine selection and delectable tapas style portions. Friendly staff and nicely priced. A definite yes to this place !!!

Having worked in the wine industry for the last 9 years now, it really has become a big part of my life. Wine is what got me interested so much in food all those years ago. Wine is what helped me develop my passion for travel and most importantly – wine is what made me start my blog, The Foodaholic. It was actually a colleague at my previous company who told me I talk far too much about food and that I should write it down instead. His excuse to keep me quiet. So I did and I’m forever thankful to that person. With that in mind I found myself at The Remedy recently. A cosy wine bar tucked hidden away in North Fitzrovia.

The cheese selection was superb. They were all cow cheeses apart from one which was ewe’s milk, and most of them were from the same region as they had held a special event with cheeses from that area the week before. The mildest was a creamy but not soft cheese with a layer of ash in the middle, then you progressed through the hard ewe’s milk cheese to a comte, a blue cheese that looked very blue but was pleasingly mellow, up to a cheese so tangy it made my eyes water and my mouth pucker. It was amazing. The bread was served with a very grassy olive oil.

A stones through away from Great Portland Street and the heart of touristy London, Remedy could not be more different than your standard Fitzrovia tourist trap.

Tucked away on a side street you'd never find without a purpose, Remedy's space is small and intimate. The tall wooden chairs, the menu written out on black boards, the charming little candles and the very French waiters all come together to make you feel like you're in the Mediterranean.

Upon entering we were seated by one of the two staff present and were promptly brought water and carefully explained the food and wine specials. The extensive wine menu is divided by colours which vary from your traditional red to orange, which I must admit I hadn't been aware wine could be.

After a considerable amount of deliberation we opted for a Chilean bottle of red along with a cheese and a cold cut platter. The waiter was very well informed on both and was able to carefully detail where each cheese and ham had been sourced from and the sorts of tastes to expect.

Remedy has managed to pair great wines with a selection of great quality food and a charming ambience and I would highly recommend it to any wine fans out there.

What more could you ask for on a Friday evening? Delicious independent juicy wines, carefully selected organic cheeses and melt in your mouth cured Italian meats. If you fancy a relaxed, informal environment, providing space for a romantic meal or a cozy glass of red with your family or friends, pay a visit to The Remedy Wine Bar in the heart of Fitztrovia. Make sure to book ahead though as the bar is petite and very popular.

The Remedy Wine Bar is the brainchild of two entrepreneurial wine geeks, David and Renato, who met while working together at Terroirs Wine Bar near Charring Cross. Having recently celebrated their first anniversary, the bar now attracts a host of wine enthusiasts and regulars. Their wine is sourced from independent wineries. I love this concept, a great ethos. More time and effort is spent on sourcing the best wines from smaller producers.

On arrival, positive energy and super friendly hosts greeted us. The dinky restaurant was full of wine lovers, some of whom had noticeably been there for a while, being evident through their rosy cheeks and lethargic manner.  But one thing for sure, everyone was here to enjoy wine.

Being early, well straight after work, my diner and I weren’t feeling a full-blown meal. Instead, a selection of meats, cheeses, olives and well of course, wine was on the table! To begin, a hearty Malbec from Cahors. People tend to associate Malbec with Argentina, yes because they are the biggest producer of Malbec, no because the Malbec grape originates from Cahors, the well-known wine region in the South West of France. The bottle was £28 and an enjoyable choice with slight tannings and a smooth finish.

The rest of the meal consisted of olives, cheeses and meats. These large green and fresh Sicilian olives were buttery and meaty. So good, we ordered a second round. We had a selection of five cheeses, which I fail to remember the names of all, though the goat’s cheese was delicious. The five meats were from different parts of the pig and were all very delicate, tasty and had been sliced to order. My favourite was definitely Coppa - a portion of air-dried meat from the pig’s neck.

From beginning to end everything was brilliantly charming. Our server Danny and also restaurant manager was a great guy. Hugely enthusiastic, helpful, genuine and eager to make certain everything was perfect.  Thanks gentleman.

As previous reviewers suggested, I made a reservation for two for a Thursday evening. I am glad that I did! Remedy is an intimate affair, perfect for couples or small groups (4-6). One long room, the first half has several low tables and bar tables, so capacity is probably around 30 patrons at a time. When you walk in, the first thing you notice is the exposed brick walls and large black chalkboards that display food and drink options. Just beyond the seating area is a large, well-stocked bar. Since it is the holiday season, lights were strewn throughout the restaurant.

Upon entering, we were promptly greeted and seated at a bar table. Though a small staff (two sommeliers), they run a tight ship. The first sommelier that helped us gave us the wine menu and pointed our attention to the large chalkboards and gave us a run-down of what was on that evening. The wine list is spectacular, and just a bit humorous. They have very funny descriptive captions - Rose was described as ‘Reds Cavorting as White’. Despite the lighthearted humor in the menu, they have a serious selection! From what I gather, they also change the selection frequently.

My pal and I ordered a bottle of Valpolicella Classico, an Italian Red described as aromatic, perfumed and floral for £34. We also ordered a Salami plate £5 and the large Cheese selection which features 7 cheeses selected by the sommelier for £17. The cheese selection was hands-down amazing! The sommelier that delivered the cheese explained every cheese in detail. They arranged the cheeses from lightest to strongest, and recommend the correct order to eat the cheeses for maximum impact. Take their advice, totally worth going in the correct order.

After a good hour of cheese, cured meat and a bottle of wine, we asked the other sommelier (David from Seattle!) if he could recommend a different red wine. He recommended a French fruity, robust red - Domaine Lacroix-Vanel Coteaux du Languedoc Pezenas Fine Amor…I had to photograph the bottle to remember it because that is a mouthful! (£14 for 2 glasses)

David then recommended we try a more complex but drier red from Italy - Fabbrica San Martino Rosso Colline Lucchesi. In great detail, he explained why this particular wine blend was special. He was totally right- it was very special! (£19 for 2 glasses)

After spending about 3 hours at Remedy, I give this place 5 stars! In terms of décor and atmosphere, this intimate restaurant has a great boisterous vibe. Everyone was laughing and having a great time. Despite their very obvious breadth of knowledge, the staff are light hearted and cheerful. Everyone has been to wine bars that take themselves to seriously…Remedy does not fit that stereotype at all! The two sommeliers on staff were excellent. They clearly know their menu inside and out but take service seriously, and were very attentive. Ask for their recommendations, you will not only learn something but you will have a super wine.

And one last note!!! On Monday nights, they do 50% off of a selection of wines…I guess I know where I will be next Monday!

Surprising!

FOOD: Very very good! It's overall a wine bar, and the selection o wine is quite impressive! We went for an Italian wine and it was very good and the icing on the cake was the Jura wine at the end! Amazing! Seriously a discovery!
The food is veeeery good, ingredients are excellent, and I can tell it because a lot o them are Italians and having tried similar things in Italy I can say they use very good quality ingredients!
PLACE: Small, I suggest to book. And very very crowded so you can talk but at some time it's quite full of people (an this is a good sing) but it's a bit hard to talk sometimes. Btw I overall think the the design is very modern and very cozy!
PRICE: so that's the only reason why they got 4. Food and place are very good but portions are quite small and the cost might be average in London but still a bit expensive. So for 7 quid u get a toast, that is likely a bruschetta. So the plate itself is not huge, amazing in the taste but it costs a bit....

Overall I would probably go back to taste some new wines!

I reserved the table prior to my visit which is advisable if you're thinking of coming. So after I embarrassed myself when taking my seat ( I knocked the next tables cutlery all over the floor) I was given a wine list and directed to the blackboards in front and behind me for food. I chose a bottle of Riesling, and to accompany that a small cheese board and a small Charcuterie board. The wine list is presented very well, so if you don't know much about wine it's easy to choose which type you want. I was very happy with my choice of wine, I find Riesling so easy to drink, it's refreshing and fruity.
The selection of cheeses and meats was great, each was described when brought to the table. They were served with bread and papadum type crackers. My friend and I adore cheese so we throughly enjoyed every morsel!
This is a great place to come and drink and chat and have a bite to eat. The service was fantastic, our wine was constantly topped up and I even learnt how to pronounce Charcuterie hehe! I highly recommend this place. I will certainly be back. Highly recommend booking a table as this place is quite small and very popular!

I came to this tiny, gem of a place last night with a friend. We stayed for nearly three hours and I loved every minute of it.

On arrival, we were shown to the table and immediately given a bottle of cold water and a five page wine menu to peruse. The wines were separated as per function: for example, to quench, whet and nourish, which made choosing a lot easier. Our highly knowledgable waiter described the wines with passion and French flair. We decided on the Langhe Nebbiolo- an obscure wine neither of us had heard of- and took much pleasure in the deep but balanced flavour. I don't really know wines, but I knew it was good!

Food wise, we started out with a bread basket served with olive oil and then moved on to some more interesting dishes. I thoroughly enjoyed the pigeon breast served with blackened artichokes but was less sure of the fish croquettes, which I found a little too salty.

Because of the size of the place, the atmosphere can't help but be intimate- an air that is helped along by attentive waiters who were always on hand to top up our wine and water.

Remedy would be the perfect spot for a second or third date, or somewhere to take the parents when they're visiting you in town. Either way, I'll be going back.

You know they say the first impression is the last impression - I agree with that most of the times. I was impressed when I walked in to this small but cozy wine bar off the busy streets of London. We made a reservation and our table was ready when we arrived - throughout the evening the service was excellent. Our waiter who was French was very knowledgable about wines so he helped us pick this beautiful bottle of red. Cotes de Bourge - a Bordeaux wine - very smooth, robust and structured. We then ordered smoked duck - one of the best duck dishes I have had - it was also very unique I have never had anything like that before. We ordered a portion of Camembert Cheese as well which was excellent - we were slightly disappointed with the portion so we asked them whether that was a normal portion. Within minutes the manager came with another portion on the house and also explained that they source their cheese from the best regions in France hence the high price. All in all a great evening and I would definitely go back!

We had had the pleasure of dining at The Remedy Wine Bar Shop & Kitchen, and it was a truly wonderful experience. The atmosphere was cozy and intimate, with warm lighting and comfortable seating. The wine list was extensive, and the owner was very knowledgeable and helpful in selecting the perfect wine to pair with our meals. Speaking of the meals, the food was absolutely delicious. We had the pleasure of trying several dishes, and each one was expertly prepared and bursting with flavor. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the service was top-notch.

A hidden gem, what a treat! So pleased to have gone, a great vibe. The staff were really friendly, helpful, and accommodating which I enjoyed a lot, thank you ☺️ The choices and drinks and knowledge to decide were ace as well. You can also pick nibbles and food bites as well. The atmosphere was friendly and also not too loud when full, which I feel is always a tick! Book in advance, I would recommend bar stools as they seem like the best seats 100%. In terms of getting there Warren Street or Great Portland Street are the best options, very short walk, and both stations have great connections too. Will be visiting again and looking forward to it. Solid A***** for this one 🥰 LDT x

Wound up in this quaint space on a late night with a few friends. The staff was very helpful and recommended two delicious bottles of red that we all loved. I’ll also note that wine list is pretty extensive and they have a great list of oranges I’m excited to come back for. The small plates are also very flavour and were perfect for sharing. Will be back!

Can’t recommend enough. We sat in the bar and had the luxury of getting personalised advice and care from the superb somerliers. Started with a German orange wine and followed with a red from Piemonte. Food was excellent, the anchovies, octopus and lamb ragu are unmissable. We also had the English cheese trio for dessert and it was equally delicious. Excellent for a date or smaller groups as venue is small which is also why it is special. Very fairly priced too. Jewel in Fitzrovia.

Me and my wife came in from Washington, DC, and while the beer in this city is amazing .. nothing compares to this wine bar. The bar tender Xavier was amazing with giving recommendations on the food selections, the order of them being delivered, and then the WINE selections. This is an authentic place ... we were able to meet the owner Andrea, and seriously, what a treat. Meeting owners of restaurants mean they really are committed to the experience of those present. We had lamb chops, beets salad, olives, fresh baked bread, and amazing cheese. We will return without a doubt. This is a 💎 gem in the busy, rushing, and moving part of London.

A small wine bar with a good selection of wine. Orange wine from Slovakia is available and it’s delicious! Interesting food menu - homemade fresh pasta, fresh zingy salad, padron peppers all well prepared. Elbow to elbow when the place is busy, and gets pretty noisy so not a good place for intimate evenings (or come after 9:30)
