You know when you've got a good thing and in Beany Green, you have a very very good thing.
On the back of the roaring success of Daisy Green in Paddington, the "Green" brand now numbers 5 strong and with the incredibly talented and charismatic Pru Freeman at the helm, this is but just the tip of the iceberg as she has her sights set on London.
This expansion has seen her set up her latest cafe in the newly regenerated Broadgate Circle, which is where I find myself for breakfast.
In truth, people come for the coffee, which is second to none around the Liverpool St area. Here, coffee isn't a beverage; it is a way of life and flat whites are served with a lashing of Antipodean flair. But to discount the food is a mistake because in my opinion, it is every bit as good.
The menu here is simply and honest with an emphasis on healthy, fresh dishes using quality produce and is best suited for breakfast through to lunch. With a vast selection of granola in the morning, wraps, sandwiches and salads, you're bound to find something that tickles your fancy.
For me, it boils down to two; the bacon and egg wrap with cheddar cheese and chilli chutney; or the epic banana bread sandwich.
Packed with a generous serving of bacon and a kick thanks to the chilli chutney, the wrap ALWAYS goes down a treat but it is the banana bread sandwich which is the showstopper; two slices of Beany Green's "Great Taste" Award-winning banana bread, toasted then topped with lashings of honeyed mascarpone and fresh berries. It is the ultimate indulgence and worth a visit just for it.
A true cafe in every sense, right in the heart of the City, Beany Green has already provided to be immensely popular and one visit is enough to understand why. Get there.

Open since April 2015, Beany Green's new 30-seater flagship cafe in Broadgate Circle promises a “distinctive blend of Aussie coffee, bold healthy food and unique street art”. It’ll only take you a walk outside, and a look at the colourful, cheeky pop-art window decorations, to realise they’re not doing things by halves.
Several morning visits, at times when City suits form a beeline outside the cafe to get takeaway coffee, showed me that the latest addition to the Beany Green family is a bright, joyful, upbeat place, where even getting on with work with the customary and utterly necessary cup of coffee in hand is an uplifting experience.
I’m picky with coffee outside of Italy, and have chickened out of trying Beany Green’s espresso more than once, but their cappuccino has all it takes to set my day off to a great start. It’s a mystery why anyone would insist on visiting the chain coffee shops inside Liverpool Street station, when much better food and drink is such a short walk away. My biggest pleasure is saving a small cup of cappuccino (£2.60 – not the cheapest, let’s face it) for my journey, which sometimes means holding on to it for ten, fifteen minutes, and finding the milk has completely blended with the coffee when I lift the plastic lid. This would normally drive me crazy – I love eating the foam by the spoonful, just like your average eleven-year-old – but Beany Green’s cappuccino works a treat; the balance between coffee and milk is just right, neither hard to digest, nor tasting burnt.
Dessert wise, Beany Green’s signature bake is said to be banana bread. I might never find out, as banana bread isn't quite up my street, but can vouch for their brownies: picture big dark squares with a rich chocolate heart, doused in cocoa powder, and dense in texture as all proper, non-cakey brownies should be.
Beany Green’s highlight, however, is their yoghurt, granola and fresh fruit pot, available to eat in or take away. Priced at £5, it’s rather expensive for a morning snack, but the portion is large enough (very large, in fact) and the ingredients fresh enough to soften the blow. The yoghurt has the creamy texture dairy dreams are made of, and the granola is packed with summery flavours; if you like the taste of coconut, you’ll be addicted in no time. Convincing me to have a healthy breakfast when I’m out and about can be a challenge – after all, gorging on buttery bakes is the reason I go out for breakfast in the first place – but if you offer me Beany Green’s yoghurt pot, you’ll have no trouble taking my mind off the dark chocolate brownies calling at me from the counter.
We all know that I love a boozy brunch. Bottomless booze gets extra points, and bottomless booze on special offer deserves a gold medal. Beany had an offer on for a brunchy dish and unlimited drinks (coffee, smoothies, juices, bloody Mary's, mimosas and bellinis) for £20.
When you arrive onto the balcony at Broadgate circle, you feel like you have been whisked away to some tropical retreat with colourful deck chairs, colourful flowers and a colourful band. My fellow boozer was an HOUR late, but the laid back Aussie staff were happy to accommodate for this.
The food menu is ironically mega healthy with tonnes of rye and quinoa and we went for the salmon on rye and shakshouka. Both were pretty divine - although the dippy eggs were served a little sloppily but perhaps that added to the casual charm of the place.
DEFINITELY RECOMMEND!
I had a lovely lunch meeting on Thursday , food was wonderful the charcoal sourdough was extremely good. And the staff we very welcoming. Managed to grab a table inside , happy to see blankets on the outdoor area too.
Brunch with two daughters, the food was divine...I had smashed avocado and smoked salmon and the girls the fancy bacon roll, but best of all was the banana bread...the best ever! Highly recommend! Service was a bit slow but that's because they were short staffed but they all worked so hard! Great spot before a shop in spitalfields
Lovely place, tasty food, and the best of all was Gabi, she has the brightest smile on her face all the time, and really makes you feel welcome, we like dedicated customer service, and this was excellent. Thank you. We will definitely be back.
Love the food, and the sweet treats are amazing. Nice place to chill the team, and gabi is just so caring and goes to ends length to make your night fun and memorable.
Yesterday we where at this place. Very good atmosphere, stuff and music. Had some really good cocktails, and the girl who served us name Gabi, was very nice. We had wonderful evening, will com back for sure.
I used to work near here, and it's the only thing I miss about my old job. The staff were super friendly and I'd pop in to buy Lammingtons occasionally. I love everything about this brand, having eaten at a couple of the sister brunch places, and have never been disappointed by anything.
The food was delicious! We had a salmon royale (not in picture)and fancy bacon on Saturday. Service was great! My friend is allergic to sunflower seeds and we didn’t realize there are sunflower seeds in the toast, they were really quick on giving us some charcoal bread instead, which was really yummy. The vibe and view outside was nice. Would recommend and revisit.
Gabi was a delight! From the moment I entrefed she was offering to serve me a drink an welcomed a lovely chat! Lovely girl. Having worked in pubs she is the perfect professional and made my night all the better. Shout out to Gabi!
Good service, tea, and coffee. The cake was good but 4 stars for the price.
I don’t believe the price is in line with the experience.
I’ve came today for a first time for some drinks with my friend and were impressed with customer service and drinks menu. Anna was very helpful and made her special cocktail for me. Definitely will be back.
