We have just stayed for the weekend which was a present for our 40th Wedding Anniversary. Our room was very comfortable with everything you could have wanted tea & coffee machine, dressing gowns & slippers all supplied. We had an evening meal and breakfast included the evening meal was either a set menu or the cost of your voucher was taken off if you used the A la Carte menu which we found a bit confusing but must say the food was excellent they had noted that it was our anniversary and presented us with a decorative fruit board. The breakfast was well presented and arrived hot and looked very appertising. All the staff were pleasant and helpful we wanted to leave our cases earlier in the day which they were very happy for us to do. Drinks were very expensive but did get a complementary bilini or presecco and they didn’t have any house rosé but offered us a bottle of rosé for the price of the house wine so couldn’t complain overall we had a very enjoyable stay
York and Albany is a consistently excellent restaurant. I've been visiting for over eight years both on business and for pleasure. The ground floor area has windows onto a small garden/yard area and is ideal for lunch. Downstaris the seating area fronts an open kitchen and has a great (and theatrical) atmosphere for an evening meal. The food is excellent - portions are more than adequate without stuffing you and the ingredients are of high quality. The place is well run with very friendly and high quality staff who are always helpful.
The title of Duke of York and Albany was first granted in the 18th century, often given to the second son of the British Monarch. The last person to hold it was Prince Frederick Augustus, second son of George III, better known as the Grand Old Duke of York who had 10.000 men whom he marched to the top of the hill and then down again. Strangely, all who held this title died without heirs. Maybe they were just too busy marching.
We have decided to head to York &Albany for dinner. We first sat at the bar for some cocktails. I must admit that I wasn't impressed at all. Ordered a Pisco Sour that didn't taste like one.
Menu is vaste but food average.
Service was good and overall experience fair.

Had booked table for two - dinner date. The food was very Gordon Ramsay-esque. I ordered the squids from the starters which were undoubtedly one of the finest squids I've had - I'd highly recommend if you like squids. The staff was very hospitable and although we were an hour late, we were accommodated. Of course, I made a courtesy call, informing them about our delay.
However, the restaurant seemed very small and although I had mentioned that it is a date, the table allotted to us wasn't the best one. The chairs especially looked I'll maintained. Didn't give a very Gordon Ramsay feel.
However, if you're not fussy about the ambiance, this place is highly recommended for its food and of course, the hospitality.
Costs about £100 for two.
Came here for a lunch, we had salt and pepper squid, beef tartare, king prawns, burger, fish and chips.
All of the food was great, particularly the beef tartare! Atmosphere was good and service was great, although we did feel a little rushed at times.
Definitely going to come here again!
This has become one of my favourite spots to visit after a stroll through Regent's Park. Tastefully decorated with a great atmosphere. The desserts are very good (you expect them to be at £7 each). This time round I had the lemon posset, which is lovely and lemony and creamy, but the topping was a bit too wet. Tried the chocolate fondant with salted caramel ice cream, which was also lovely and the banoffie cheesecake - yum, all the flavours are perfectly balanced. Service is rather charming too.
For a Gastropub food was quiet good. Cheese platter and the pizzas. Service for drinks was a bit slow but helpful staff and freindly. Fantastic location and good for a relaxing night out. Not noisy for a London eatery.
A delicious meal in lovely, lovely setting. Great cocktails, an extensive menu and a really lovely place to spend a Friday evening. Don't miss the scallops and chorizo if they're on offer!
Beer & Pizza. Delicious! We were a bit worse for wear, though. Tasty fresh pint of Peroni and lashings of G&T. Ordered a pizza at the bar and loved it. Very spacious, charming and, under the circumstances, tolerant staff. Have been a few times before for drinks/cocktails and coffee. Not sure about the restaurant. May try sometime. Nice bar. Will go again.
Ramsay-lite. Had a work lunch here the other day and they coped admirably with serving a table of 8, most of whom chose different dishes. The room is a little cool, but service was very warm.
I started with Smoked beef fillet, mouli, braised snails, parsley - a curious sounding combination but it really did work. The scallops with sweetcorn puree and anchovy beignets were also much enjoyed, as was the hen's egg raviolo and duck confit tortellini.
For mains, pork belly, cauliflower puree and almonds - unctuous pork, but crackling could have been more, well, crackly...my neighbour's rabbit leg with parma ham, anchovy, chard and potato was great, and a lamb shank produced sighs of envy, seemingly coming from a lamb more akin to a cow in size...
I passed on puddings, as you do, and then proceeded to gaze longingly at a salted caramel parfait with pear sorbet and mocha foam. Me and my conscience, honestly.
Jolly good stuff, all in.
I took my girlfriend for lunch here last week for a special occasion. The place looks amazing from the outside and has been somewhere we had planned to go for some time. Apart from small things about the interior (marks on the wallpaper from scuffed chairs and tables more sized for a chain than fine dining) the place is ok if a little bland upstairs. The starters of ravioli for me and risotto for her was not bad, with the ravilo winning out by a mile. The ristotto for too full flavoured for a starter. The mains were a very well prepared bouillabaisse and duck. All this with a caraff or wine came to £90, which is really where things come apart. The quality of the food does not warrent the price tag and the "experience" can be matched in quite a few places in Camden. I would recommend this place only for the inquisitive.
