The veggie Benedict eggs! A tasty mouth feast.
Also the blueberry pancakes. We went there twice in a row, I had to try them.
A really cool place & nice staff.
It can be a bit slow, the kitchen being small and all, but relax cause it's worth it.
Hash E8 is all about brunch, hash browns and pork (dinner as well, as I was told recently). This small full of character cafe has a nice vibe, friendly faces a good food. My girlfriend and I went there for brunch, starving and really craving some nice brunch. Her Veggie brunch is a vegetarian take on the English breakfast, that she did not let me try as she (abnormally) are without leaving a single crumb behind. I myself, torn between choices, followed the waiter's suggestion and had the pig muffin because "it's more different". Yes indeed. It's as unusual as tasty. It is a bit difficult to eat, given the size of it, but it's totally worth it. The show stopper for me is the chilli and chorizo jam, very unique. My main criticism is that the music was a bit too loud, but maybe I am just an old hag. We sat not at a table but on the benches against the walk, and that was a quite dinner experience. Yet another good place to have a tasty brunch and spend a good time.
Hash E8 is owned and operated by husband and wife duo Maria OāSullivan and Ed Grangerall, and is all about serving hearty food in a casual and lively environment. They describe themselves as a āshort order British diner/modern greasy spoonā, and one look at the menu reveals why.
Always a pleasure! One of the best breakfasts in London . The Staff are charming even though it's always rammed the food is very fresh and inspiring. Queues are often very long on the weekends, and for good reason, they really know how to kill those hangovers with one swoop of porky deliciousness.
Never once had a bad meal. Best update on a greasy spoon in London. Staff charming, food very tasty and the coffee if you like a filter coffee is amazing. Can't understand the semi negative reviews here so felt obliged to write my first review, they can't really help it that they are so popular particularly on weekends and it's a small space but in my opinion well worth the wait. Can't recommend enough.
Brunch is an amazing meal and is what weekends are made for. Turn the alarm clock off, roll out of bed at a leisurely time and head straight for a meal where you can consume enough to cover two GUILT-FREE. Even the most steadfast of "three meal a day" advocates can surely buy into that concept. But of course brunch does come with its inherent risks, one being if it isn't good, you've not just had one bad meal but rather two. That however is not an issue at Hash E8.
With plates of the chorizo & sweet potato hash with black pudding and the Pig muffin to call company, the day was shaping up to be an epic. The Pig muffin in particular was an absolute beast. Containing a sausage patty, bacon, pork belly, hash brown, egg cake, cheese and bacon jam all exploding out of an English muffin, it takes a serious appetite just to make a dent in. It's a daunting sight.
But for those brave enough, you can take the Pig muffin to the next level with the Posh pig muffin of chorizo slice and crispy bacon with black pudding, beetroot hash brown, manchego cheese, spinach and chorizo jam. My heart was not strong enough on this day and after seeing my friend consume her's, I'm not sure her heart was quite strong enough either. Thankfully she is alright...I think.
A cute all day cafe located snuggly in the heart of Dalston, it represents everything a neighbour haunt should; warm and welcoming with friendly staff and a unpretentious menu of quality, hearty food. If I lived closer, I'd be here every weekend. Unfortunately, I don't but it was well worth the hour journey. Check it out.

I had such high hopes after reading the menu for Hash E8. Unfortunately my experience wasn't as sweet.Ā
Our visit was off to a bad start when we arrived around 10am on a Saturday to find a queue out of the door. We were stood waiting at the door for a good 20+ minutes, whilst the staff wandered around and ignored us. I asked the person in front of me if they'd been told how long the wait was - nope. We both agreed it would have been nice just to be acknowledged.Ā
When we were seated we ordered the Pulled Pork Hash and the Chorizo and Sweet Potato Hash, with a side of French Toast. We had hoped for a latte, but unfortunately they only sell filter coffee here (never mind). The Pulled Pork Hash was deliciously greasy, and the accompanying crackling was very much welcomed. A great dish. The Chorizo and Sweet Potato Hash wasn't as good unfortunately. The spinach overpowered the chorizo and sweet potato (that's impressive), and the poached eggs were well done (no runny yolk). Unfortunately the interesting sounding umami dust was a let down, and was barely noticeable. The French Toast was pretty good, and is definitely worth ordering alongside your main.Ā
The presentation is lacking at Hash E8, but that isn't much of a problem. Away from the plates, the interior is simple and similar to most of the other places in Dalston - shabby chic. It can get pretty noisy, and very busy, even early on a Saturday morning. Maybe that says more than my review can? Ultimately my visit was very average, and I probably would consider going back. But only if someone suggested it.

When I first saw the pics London the inside instagrammed from Hash E8 I got super excited. I immediately suggested we go and try it out, the very next weekend. Stat! ...They have a couple of sweet options that sound delicious (stuffed French toast!) and many savoury options that sound equally tempting. They clearly also have a fondness for pig, with a piggy treat or option of adding one on nearly every dish. All music to my ears.

And so we did, this weekend falling on the one Saturday in about five weeks Iād been horridly hungover, and meaning I wasnāt able to get myself out of the house much before 3. (And I returned to bed straight after brunch.) So, was it worth leaving my bed for however briefly? Yes, I think so, although it was a little rough around the edges.
They do brunch all day on weekends, and in the week as well, although they also do normal lunch options then. At the moment they only stay open until 5 but we were told they have plans to extend that and have their license all set up, theyāre just still quite busy getting it all properly running. They must only be a few weeks old.
So, we rocked up just an hour before they shut. They have a couple of sweet options that sound delicious (stuffed French toast!) and many savoury options that sound equally tempting. They clearly also have a fondness for pig, with a piggy treat or option of adding one on nearly every dish. All music to my ears. Stephen had the special ā a plate of pulled pork, potatoes, mushrooms and onions. I had the Hash benedict. With pork belly slice.
I sometimes think the foodie gods do not smile upon Stephen. Iām often more than happy with my choice while his is underwhelming. And so it was the case here, but mainly because the advertised mushrooms werenāt present, meaning his plate was a little meagre. We asked the waitress about this and she was duly mortified (especially as theyād kinda forgotten my pork, although it was brought out just as I was peering under my egg to see if it was there). They quickly rustled up a side of mushrooms with parsley, and Stephen added them to his plate. He said they made all the difference and seemed much happier after that. Our waitress (who was lovely, really) also gave us a complimentary diet coke each to make up for it.
But what about mine? Well, mine was pretty fab to be honest. Atop two fat, crispy hash browns sat a mound of kale, giving the dish a hefty iron tang, with two perfectly poached eggs. I highly recommend adding the belly pork ā I got two bits which slotted easily under the eggs and gave the whole thing a nice salty, meaty high note. I was stuffed by the time Iād finished it all. The only thing that I would have added to both dishes was some hot sauce, but we could have just asked ā we noted someone else did just that.
You are also welcome to add whatever sides you might want and pretty much every ingredient listed in the dishes can also be added as a side so you can mix and match to your heartās content.
Hash itself just feels like a cute little cafƩ, not overly trendy, just basic and friendly. My seat had colourful astro-turf style upholstery but apart from water being served in milk bottles and a big slab with the special on it, there was no uber-quirkiness going on.
I think they may still be finding their feet but even with our little mishaps, Iām giving them the benefit of the doubt. Anywhere that does brunch all day is A-OK in my book, and I just have to try that French Toast!
I was alerted to this delicious little cafe by an Instagram post of a delicious looking English muffin. It was love at first sight... I easily nabbed a table and ordered myself a latte. Unfortunately here your own coffee choice is filtered, so i politely declined and wondered how I would make it through the morning caffeine-free. A quick glance at the menu calmed any fears. A delicious mix of interesting flavours and different combinations litters the menu. I ordered the chorizo and sweet potato hash- a glorious mix of spinach alongside the two main ingredients, plus black pudding and eggs. Everything I wanted and more. I managed to be extremely jealous of my dining partners order- the Pig Muffin, an English muffin with sausage patty, bacon, pork belly, egg, bacon jam, cheese, hash brown and chorizo and tomato jam. Jayyysus! A heart attack in a meal- but a heart attack worth having. I love a place that provides scrumptious food that deviates from the norm. The focus on a breakfast hash in most dishes ticks this box for me. The throw back to the 60s diner style fit out is quirky and although not exactly warm, reflects the 'is exactly what it says on the tin' nature of this new brunch hotspot.
Fantastic breakfast, if I lived locally I'd be here every week. Home made baked beans are a rare treat, good bread - a must for a great breakfast, lots of other home made goodies as well. My only criticism is that the tea didn't come in a pot, but evening else was so good in overlooking it š
iāve been to many brunch places but this is by far the best. such good quality food and lovely staff. also amazing value. had the pig, pork belly brunch and blueberry pancakes to finish ! also had the unlimited refill filter coffee and a baileys iced coffee
Wonderful brunch. Food was fresh and delicious. Staff friendly and helpful. Would recommend if you are in the area.
One of the best breakfast Iāve ever have in London. You can taste the food quality, and prices are very reasonable. Customer service was good and fast. We had blueberry pancakes, hash Benedict with Halloumi and side of hash brown. Hash brown in this place is very delicious and much different than any other places. Only if I can give it more than five stars.
The best English breakfast in London. Every time I come to the UK I need to come here as well. All the products are exquisite but my favourite is definitely the black pudding (that's why I like to order one extra!). Five stars is not enough!
This little cafƩ, snuggled in Hackney, offers a wide selection of breakfast classics to please every pallet (with Vegan options).
I went for the half breakfast option of sausage, bacon, egg, toast, hash brown, and homemade baked beans (which were tasty).
However, the blueberry pancakes were pillowy soft and held a generous amount of fruit that burst through in purple trickles of yummyness.
I'll be back to try something else off the impressive menu the next time the all-day-breafast urge strikes again.
Short walk from the main street in dalston. This seemed to be a popular spot. Constant stream of customers but didn't feel under pressure to eat and get out. Portions were sizable without being over-facing. Food was tasty. Star lost for grubby seat covers / cushions and very sticky tables.
One of the best full breakfasts in London.
Also wonderful choice for vegetarians.
Pancakes for dessert highly recommended.
Generous refills of coffee and fab service.
This place is so amazing!
Understated interior and true East London community feel at this cafe.
Decided to stop here for brunch and had some eggs florentine and the legendary white chocolate pancakes.
The eggs florentine sauce was delicious and the eggs were perfectly cooked. The pancakes had a lot of sauce or grease floating around. Not sure if this was formerly the white chocolate which had melted but they were delicious. If you're not a fan of soggy pancakes try the savoury options!
Worth a visit!

I went there with my family on Sunday morning and the brunch was fantastic!
I recommend everybody going there and enjoy a huge meal for a day walking trough the city.
Incredible place for a guilty weekend brunch. They do have healthy options too but who can say no to those pancakes! Staff are friendly, food is great and the prices are fair. Will definitely be returning.
Refillable coffee and great pork based breakfasts. Veggies are a bit bland.
Enjoyed the pork muffin :)
This unassuming little cafe delivers on its title of being a Modern Greasy Spoon faultlessly. The service was friendly, the cocktails are a must, but the food is what really stood out. The clue is in the name - these guys know there Hash. Also anything with pulled pork in - total winner.
It was my first time at Hash E8 but you better believe itās not the last. Went there for brunch on a Saturday and had the Hash Benedict - eggs benedict on these incredible crispy chunky hash browns... I was blown away by how delicious it was and went again the next day! Had the eggs benedict on goat cheese and a muffin - that was just incredible too. For desert we had the Toasty - french toast filled with Nutella, banana and peanut butter with maple syrup on top... fair to say I was pretty much full the whole day. A must!!!
Very tasty propper greasy spoon breakfast with a very original modern twist. The quality of the produce is quite good and the dishes strike that perfect balance between traditional and modern, it being not far from fry-ups but with plenty of healthy ingredients and a range of dishes and combinations suited for all types of dietary requirements.
The decor of the place is the good kind of minimalistic. There's not much space in the room but turn around times are rather quick so the balance feels nice. The staff are very lovely.
Coffee lovers be advised that there's only filter coffee (I seem to recall) but my partner really enjoyed it.
Nice little brunch place with a good range of breakfast favourites and some with a nice modern twist. My pancakes were fabulous, deep fluffy and rich. Friendly staff and quick service.
Oddly they donāt have a coffee machine so they loose a star there, but tasty filter refills were welcome.
Words cannot describe how much I adore this brunch spot. It's honestly the best brunch you'll eat in all of London (if you love pork). Last time I was here I had the pork belly benedict (godly) and this time I had the Pig Muffin (ungodly in the best sort of way). Their pancakes are also a thing of beauty. I had the blueberry pancakes on this occasion and they're so light and fluffy and refreshing, but I think their white chocolate banana pancakes are actual heaven if you have a sweet tooth. Seriously just eat here okay. And come v v hungry š Oh and their filter coffee is actually quite nice.
Though there's no halal options on the menu, the veggie breakfast was definitely a good alternative. Unlike most places, the vegetarian breakfast most definitely did not feel like an afterthought. Priced at £9, it included: beetroot hash brown, kale, fried egg, falafel, mushrooms, homemade beans, and toast (with a cube of butter). Though I was a bit skeptical at first, I was thoroughly impressed by how the daily veggies were so wonderfully reinvented and packed such a punch! Having now ate there, I completely understand the queue there is for this place. If there were some halal alternatives, I would definitely give Hash E8 that final star.
Big serves at a decent price. For under £30 between us, we had two big breakfasts and a bottomless coffee each.
The big breakfast was really good. Great mix of meat, beans, mushrooms and a massive hash brown.
Eggs benny was really rich, which made it a bit much. But on the whole we walked away happy
