All time favourite. Great place great atmosphere great food. Been coming for 20 years but the hot and sour chicken soup is best in the world as is rest of the food. The shredded chicken the chicken cashew nuts the jumbo prawns are all old favourites.

My friends speak highly about this place so I have to give it a try. I came here for lunch earlier today without a reservation. There was a short queue when I arrived. I only waited about 10 minutes before a table became available.

The physical attributes of this place were reminiscent of Chinese fine dining restaurants. The spacious layout, the roundtables, the crisp white table cloths are typical of such restaurants. It looked polished but the ambiance was more casual, making it good for friends and family get togethers.

The place was packed earlier which meant manic time for the staffs. Despite the pressure, I found the team to be nice, responsive and efficient. They were very cordial when asking if I was ready to make my orders and equally polite when giving me more time to scan the menu. I never felt being rushed at any point which usually happens in popular Chinese restaurants. They were quick to respond to your needs and even faster in serving the food. I was amazed at how they were able to keep their energy level high on a such a busy service. I assumed it is like that everyday.

There were plenty of choices to choose from, be it from the dim sum menu or the regular menu. I was in the mood to pig out so I decided to get two dim sum items plus a main course and rice. I ordered roast pork cheung fun, spare ribs in black bean sauce, sweet and sour pork and egg fried rice.

The spare ribs was impressive. The meat itself was soft and juicy while the sauce was sharp, salty, lightly sweet and garlicky. The minced garlic was a good addition to the sauce. The cheung fun was delicious. I liked the silky smooth rice sheets that enveloped the roast pork. The pork was tender and moist but with the flavours seemingly scaled back. This then allowed the sauce to give the entire ensemble its flavour. The sweet and sour pork was very good. It wasn't the best I had but it is up there. The sauce was well balanced between the two flavours and had a nice consistency. The pork cutlets had a crisp coating but with soft and moist inside. I haven't had sweet and sour pork in a while. I was very happy with this one. The egg fried rice was cooked well but a bit too salty.

I paid less than GBP 30 for the entire meal. It was a great deal considering the taste and quality of the food. It was great value for money.

I now understand why my friends speak about this place with so much gusto. I only have good words for Royal China. If you haven't try this place yet, book a table soon.

Good food, good service, not very expensive.
I would recommend the Peking duck which is amazing but the banana in syrup not so much.
The restaurant is big but always very full.

Simply Outstanding!

Visited this restaurant a few times during my stint in the UK, and was blown away during all my visits. The ambiance has the quality of a high end Chinese restaurant, and this coincides with the stellar service and quality of the food.

I remember having the sweet and sour chicken, a the seafood dumpling, and a fish that was to remember. The noodles were done perfectly, and we had to order two helpings because of this.

I hope to come back whenever I visit London, next.

Keep up the outstanding work!

I remember being told that Chinese food was healthy.  There’s no dairy, very little gluten, a lot of vegetables and a lot of steamed dishes.  Dim Sum, those tiny parcels of deliciousness that you perhaps associate, as I do, with a lazy Sunday lunch with friends, makes a perfect mid-week meal too.  The last time I visited one of the Royal China branches, it was to Queensway, where I was joined by a Chinese Malaysian friend, who happily ordered her way through the entire menu in Cantonese.  This time, we decided to pick a few dishes and perhaps order more as we went along.  A bit like tapas, it’s far too easy to over-order.  Though since most of the dishes are less than £5 for three or four, it’s hard to blow the budget.

We treasure our family meals as a special time to chat and enjoy delicious food. We recently visited Royal China Baker Street, a flagship branch of the Royal China Group, and really enjoyed the whole experience. Not only is the restaurant beautifully decorated in black and gold lacquer, the food is authentic and flavoursome.

Compared to the Royal china club (of which I am a diehard fan), I would say that this place only matches up in the Peking duck. Nothing else was exceptionally good, except maybe the green tea ice cream. But there were a ton of average dishes in between. The lotus stem was honestly the highlight of my beef in oyster sauce dish, and the tofu dish was overcooked. The greens were good, but it's hard to go wrong with those. Overall I would say it rates average as far as real Chinese food is concerned. Go to china town or to the real Royal china!

Growing up in Hong Kong meant that I spent many a formative Sunday having dim sum for lunch. And like many, the way I’ve eaten dim sum became the ‘right’ way to do it. Over the years I’ve shared a table with many others who had their own ideas of the ‘right’ way to eat dim sum. And there seem to be a myriad of rules: from where you put your bones and waste (I put it on the big plate and eat from the bowl, others put their rubbish on the table), to what to drink, to the great question of chicken feet or not chicken feet (I hear some of you go ‘but… auuuuuutthennnnnniiiiiiiciiiiittttttttt!!!). So, I decided we need to do some ‘market research’- i.e. let’s go and stuff ourselves with dim sum!

A good place with a nice ambiance. The service was not up to the mark. The food, however, was quite delicious. The portions too were generous. The Sichuan Prawns were only ok but the Egg Fried Rice and Chicken with Chilli are both recommended. Worth a visit.

Royal China has incredible chinese food!
Their dim sum is much recommended. They've got quite a selection for vegetarian food such as the tofu and vegetable stir fry in various sauces. The Peking duck is a good option to order only if there are a number of people sharing, since the portion is relatively large.
Chinese food with chilli oil on the side is as perfect as maple syrup on waffles!

The Dum Sum is excellent. They have a great veggie choice on noodles, rice and mains. It's well priced and service on occasion is fast but staff are quiet rude and unfriendly. Would recommend it to anyone - even a takeaway.

Let me confess that I am punishing this eatery for its consistently delivering rude service; and its not the senior staff but the waiting staff that are the culprits.

Went there for lunch and the special dimsums of the day and both the scallop and lobster bundles were heavenly. The duck is expensive - every bit worth it - and the staff actually prepare great duck rolls if one "begs" them to. Actually everything is a shade on the pricier side; but this is fine dining. Its hard to find any fault with the food and that's the reason one keeps returning to endure the unfriendly service. I wonder if its all part of an act :)

These popular Cantonese bite sized dishes are always a winner in my books. I just love the idea of sharing loads of small plates with a group of friends and having that extra interaction over food with a bit of table chaotic-ness. Isn't that nice.

On this particular occasion I happened to be dining alone at the Royal China on Baker Street but rest assured, this didn't stop me from ordering plenty of dim sum dishes all to myself.

Royal China have a number of locations doted all over London as well as Singapore and are well known for their traditional, delicately handmade little parcels of tasty delights originating from Canton in China. They have a gigantic menu with a huge selection of fried and fresh dim sum which is available from noon until 5pm, giving you ample time to stuff your face in as much as you can.

Starting off with a royal summer drink of passionfruit, strawberry jelly pearls and more importantly, some traditional green tea.
After browsing over the menu at least 20 times I finally decided on my selection. The menu is that extensive its almost impossible to eat your way through it all, however that can only mean one thing peeps; you will just have to come back again. Now that cant be such a bad thing can it.

Prawn cheung fun - a little hard to grasp with the chop sticks if your a clutz like myself. Maybe thats why the have named this one fun?!

Scallop dumplings - name speaks for itself and I am obsessed with scallops so I guess my opinion is of a biased one.
From the special menu - Scottish lobster dumplings dipped in hot chilli sauce. If you have love it hot, then this is a must to try. Gorg!
Chicken and Mushroom buns - instead of going for the usual pork bun I opted for this which im glad I did. Just as good, if not better I reckon.
Honey roast pork puffs - there were to die for. Sweet buttery pastry, absolute perfection with the pork mince.
Stuffed eggplant and mixed shrimp with black bean sauce - WOW just wow. Mixed some steam rice, its fairly rich in flavour so recommended that you share this one out or take home in a doggy bag as I did. Flatmate was most impressed with me!
Egg Tarts - not sure it was a wise move to order these but I am a huge lover of egg custard desserts so greedy guts me couldn't go past trying at least one... or two..... Really, are you surprised by this?! That good my friends. That good.

After having difficulty being able to move, it was fair to say that I was feeling more than just satisfied. The service is sterling - plenty of staff floating the floors to top up your tea and clear empty plates. Definitely coming back for more and 'those' duck pancakes ive heard all about. Next time I promise to share :)

From Melbourne to London. This was my very first stop after getting off the plane from Melb. (Aust) and first food experience in London. I've got to say its one of the best Chinese restaurants I've eaten at, the food was fresh well cooked and not too oily or heavy. Not the cheapest but well worth the visit if your looking for a good meal.

Sister to The Royal China in Queensway, the Baker Street branch is a touch larger, seating 200 at a time, yet has the identical black and gold lacquer decoration. The lengthy menu is the same too, though the actual ability to cook the dishes varies between the two branches. This branch is just down the road from Royal China Club, at 44 Baker Street, a somewhat posher take on the same food but with higher prices.

We were in a terrible craving for dim sum over the weekend and decided to pop by Royal China along Baker Street for lunch. While most of the Chinese restaurants in London are congregated in the vicinity of Chinatown, the better ones (save for Four Seasons) seems to be located elsewhere. The same could be said for the better restaurants serving dim sum as well.

Royal China has been on my foodie ‘to do list’, so last week we popped along to the flagship Baker Street restaurant for a leisurely dim sum lunch.

The menu features typical dim sum that we were already familiar with, but the specials include some more unusual dishes using Iberico ham, soft shell crab and lobster. We ordered a selection of dim sum from the main menu with notions of trying a few specials later, but we underestimated just how filling the dim sum would be.

I was pleased to find my favourite Shanghai Pork Dumplings (£3.50) on the menu and wish I’d ordered a whole basket to myself.  Royal China’s Xiao Long Bao were just as tasty as the ones I’d tried in Shanghai with a rich broth, tender pork filling and a delicate wrapper – utterly moreish.

Roast Pork Buns (£3.50) were light and fluffy yet substantial, filled with a generous amount of lean pork in a rich, slightly sweet sauce. They also come with a chicken and mushroom filling and I regret not being able to find extra room to try these too.

Prawn Dumplings (£3.80) were exemplary with fresh, aromatic prawns mixed with vegetables and bamboo, encased in a delicate dumpling wrapper.
Pan-fried Gyoza (£3.30) were the largest I’ve ever had and they were packed full of well-seasoned pork filling and nicely browned on one side.

Honey Roast Pork Puffs (£3.50) were delightful little parcels of golden, flaky glazed pastry filled with piping hot succulent pork. If you like sausage rolls, you won’t be able to resist them.

I also really enjoyed the Sesame Prawn Rolls (£3.80) which had a similar topping to prawn toast but the steamed rolls were filled with pieces of succulent prawn, vegetables and herbs.

The only dish that didn’t win me over was Honey Roast Pork Cheung Fun (£4.20). The honey roast pork inside the rice rolls was perfectly cooked and I liked the accompanying sweet soy sauce, but I found the rice rolls themselves too thick and sticky.

Before visiting, I had wild ideas of ordering an endless stream of dishes, but I was surprised at how quickly I became full. Dim sum may appear light and bite-size but in fact it can be quite rich and flavoursome. Next time, I would probably add a rice dish or some roast duck to vary the flavours.

As always, we found room for some dessert and were tempted by the Steamed Sweet Egg Custard Buns (£3.50). The fluffy, piping hot and perfectly round buns were filled with a dense, creamy egg custard with just the right amount of sweetness.

Chilled Mango Pudding (£3.50) is a lovely dessert to order if you want something light and can’t manage anything else that comes in a basket. It’s simply a smooth, creamy mango-flavoured jelly atop a sea of condensed milk.

Royal China Baker Street is a great spot for a dim sum fix and is very affordable for the portion size and quality.

There are a few things that would make the atmosphere more relaxed – the music was rather kitsch and service was reasonably quick but a little stiff at times. I’d definitely go back to try more of the menu and Royal China Club is now high up on my foodie list.

The whole process of reaching to the dining area is very stressful and time consuming. You have to keep in my mind your ticket number and be alert to see who is immediately before you and who is after you. The interiors of this place are huge, perhaps too big. However, the decor is still quite beautiful. The staff is very quick and efficient in their service and serve your order in a matter of minutes. However, they are also a bit too rushed and seem to have been forced to be pleasant. However, you forget all that when you get the delicious food, which is quite expensive but does a good job at filling you up with lip smacking flavours!

One of my first choices when I'm after some fine dining and quality Chinese cusine. This is a very beautiful restaurant with good food to match.
I'd recommend beginning with a serving of spring rolls and chicken and sweet corn soup. For the mains they have an impressive array of fish and seafood dishes but my pick would be the sea bass. I've been coming here for close to 10years and after experimenting with different rice dishes and the results have yielded an unequivocal conclusion, the lotus leaf rice is the best one. Sometimes I just have it on its own as its probably my favourite rice dish.
They have a bar if you fancy a drink and the staff are professional.
This place is on the more expensive side its definitely worth visiting especially if its a special occasion. It's very popular so do book in advance.

Royal China Baker Street is an established restaurant with quality food and a pleasant ambience suitable for families and friends. A gold feature wall with concealed lighting adds to the modern and understated decor, which is classy at the same time.

The dishes aren't as expensive as the likes of Hakkasan/Nobu/Novikov but still gives you a luxury experience, whether it's for lunch or dinner.

Service is generally a little slow, which can get frustrating. However the food is great, which makes me return from time to time. The salt and pepper prawns are probably my favourite appetiser; deep fried in a savoury batter and garnished with garlic and dry chilli. You must try the Peking duck with pancakes - great to have as a course in between starters and main for the ultimate feast.

If you have space for dessert, try the banana fritters or toffee banana/apple! Deep fried goodness with a sweet coating that goes perfect with their vanilla ice cream.

One of my favourite places in London. Whether you want a quick lunch, or a long dinner with friends, over good quality Chinese food, this is where you want to be.
The quality of all the food is very high, however the price isn’t. You can order the beef without worrying that it’s chewy or that the chicken is not fresh.

The restaurant is one big room, with speedy staff, however you still feel relaxed once you sit down and eat. You will be the happiest if coming with a group of friends so you can order a couple of dishes. The crispy duck is an absolute must-have here, with your waiter shredding it in front of you. I would also highly recommend the vegetables with crispy noodles, Singapore glass noodles with chilli and pork (only available at dinner time) and the chicken with cashew nuts. The best tip that you should keep in mind- wear loose jeans as you will be coming out full.

If you eat gluten free your options are limited but you can still enjoy the meal. The shredded duck still tastes amazing with egg-fried rice (even without the sauce and pancakes), and the Singapore glass noodles can spice up your dinner. Unfortunately, nothing else is gluten free, except for the different types of rice.

If you like chinese, then you will love Royal China. As you enter you will be greeted promptly and seated quickly by their friendly staff. This service stayed consistent throughout my meal. It is quite an open planned and big restaurant, and usually very busy; so the ambiance is not of an elegant and intimate restaurant, although there is enough space between the tables that you are not bothered by your surroundings.

Now the food is what you need to know about, and let me confirm that it is great. There is everything on the menu that you would want from a chinese restaurant, my favourites are the Crispy Noodles with Chicken, Sweet and Sour Chicken and the Egg Fried Rice. I definitely recommend to share each dish, not only do you get to try more things but it also makes it much less expensive per person (although the value is already very good).

The restaurant is filled with all types of clients from businessmen to friends to romantic couples. So, no matter the occasion I highly recommend this restaurant.

The Royal China Restaurant (Baker Street) serves amazing Dim Sum menu and has more variety than most of the places I've visited so far in both UK and Switzerland 🤍 . I actually have a reservation at another Royal China branch nearby but we accidentally saw a big que of people and mistaken that this is the place. We got to sit and realise that we were in the wrong branch 😅 But awayway we ordered and I emailed that branch that we are in the different building by mistake. The menu are very similar though so I am happy 😉 . I highly recommend the reservation at another branch, or you can que up 30 mins before the restaurant open time (12pm) to get the seats in the first round :) You won't regret this. Oh, evey dishes are great except the last dish, noodle with bbq pork 😫, as the noodle is not of good quality and over cooked, and we have had a better bbq pork so I don't recommend this dish here though. . . #mmwhattoeatinlondon #itslondonbaby #mmlondon2023

Yes they are expensive but the quality of the dim sum has always been to a high standard, and I'm very happy to find that the quality remains the same post lockdown whereas the quality at many of their competitors has hit rock bottom. We came for dim sum lunch on a Thursday during half term, it wasn't too busy and service was fast and efficient. We enjoyed everything we ordered and wished we had time for more. Really recommend (check out the attached pics) the roast pork puffs and the shanghai pork dumplings - the ones here actually has soup in it, unlike a lot of other restaurants, so watch out when you bite into it.

Still the best dim sum I've had in London and one of my wife's and my faves. The consistency is epic given the amount of diverse, fiddly dishes they put out, especially over the weekend. We had 2 set menus with my friends, a vegetarian and a non-vegetarian one, both had either 5 or 6 courses and each one was better than the last! If you’re ever in the area definitely give Royal China a go and you won’t be disappointed.

Been here countless times. Hits the spot every time. Get there before 5pm for their dim sum. Their dim sum is ridiculously good. There always a queue on the weekends. If you get there before 12:30 you have a better chance of not waiting 20/30 minutes. However it is well worth the wait even if you have to wait. The service is decent they try their best as they are so very busy. We always get the dim sum with the crispy noodles in black bean sauce with beef.

Posh location and Top of the market Chinese restaurant. Good all round menu strong on fish. But the chicken and pork and veggie stuff we tried was excellent, plus the crispy duck. Need to ask for extra sauces. Service was attentive, even on a summer Saturday evening, we were in a good location, easy to catch the eye of the swarm of waiters.

Dim Sum are great but the rice aren't nice unfortunately. Great services and atmosphere tho.

The best Hong Kong style dim sum in London that I tried. Royal China was very clean and tidy looking when I visited. The dim sum dishes were delicious and reasonably priced. The dishes were hot when I got them as if they were just cooked. I highly recommend the pawn and chive dumplings. I loved how the chives were cut into small pieces but still big enough to have a texture when I tasted them. The wonton noodle soup was great too with thin egg noodle and a few pieces of green vegetable. They are located within five walking distance to Queen Mary’s Rose Garden and Hyde Park. The staff there were very friendly. It’s nice to dine there.

Excellent, quality ingredients. Arguably the best dim sum in London, especially the soup dumplings. Removing one star for some unfriendly and brash staff. Otherwise the perfect meal.

Dim sum here is great. Came at 12pm on Saturday and didn’t have to wait for a table. I often eat dim sum in HK and the dishes here are very comparable. Would definitely come back again.
