Great find tucked away in a lovely location with a comfy feel about it. Beautifully decorated friendly staff. Had the prawns and the calamari. Can honestly say as a calamari lover, the best I have ever tasted! Cooked to perfection with the most amazing taste! Complements to the Chef!

Excellent venue but the staff make it. Their knowledge of wine is great unfortunately the food menu isn't amazing however it is slightly expensive for what it is. Saying this I do frequent this plane and highly recommend it.

Beautiful, cosy, romantic little spot. Went here for a spontaneous after work date with my partner for wine and cheese. Had a sweet little table with big comfy cushions, low lighting and excellent service. Wine is off the charts good!

A very cute wine bar with a nice selection of wines by the glass and bottle... Very cozy and nice ambiance with a delightful staff. I'd recommend it for a date or small groups.

Amazing wine and cheese! We usually go here to wait for hour 1/2 hour wait at Homeslice and just enjoy a bottle of wine! It's really nice atmosphere. So take advantage of this beautiful court "Neal's Yard" and enjoy some good wine.

Great wine bar tucked away in the impossible-to-find Neal's Yard. Their list by the glass offers choice without being overwhelming. It's absolutely lovely to sit outside if the sun is shining. Order the "mystery wine" for a bit of fun!

This place is tucked away in the very charming Neal's Yard. From the outside it does not look like the design haven, that is it's interior. I came here for work drinks and was extremely impressed by it's beautiful interior. It's a mix of brilliant print and patterns, little Moroccan tiles lining the bar and funky printed sofas and cushions. We were served by a sweet French waitress, who told us about the various wines on offer and ended up choosing a Pinot Gris which was not cheap at £10 a glass. The Pinot was very good and enjoyed even more in the ambient and classy setting of the bar. Next we chose a slightly cheaper glass of Muscadet which was also great. The menu also told us that they served an array of charcuterie and cheese dishes which I would have loved to have tried if I wasn't heading to dinner afterwards. Overall, prices of wines are high here but were quality and enjoyed in a charming and relaxed environment.

CVS is tucked away in Neal’s Yard, a pretty little Covent Garden court that is screaming out for summer to arrive. Back in the day Neal’s Yard used to have a slight grungy, studenty buzz about it, but now its been refined and boasts a new breed of bars and restaurants (including Homeslice Pizza). CVS is by the same team behind the Experimental Cocktail Club and this Parisian feeling bar stocks over 400 original wines.

The prices suit most pockets, reds from £22 and whites from £25 per bottle, be careful though there are a few second mortgages on the wine menu too. The knowledgeable and very likeable staff recommended a couple of reds from their ‘by the glass’ list. My Charmes De Kirwan, Margaux Bordeaux, 2007 was possibly one of the best wines I’ve ever had – but at £15 a glass I probably won’t be having many more! Saff went for the other end of the scale and ordered a very, very good peachy Casa Mairiol, Terra Alta Blanc, 2012 for a reasonable £6.

Compagnie des Vins Surnaturels is a cosy wine bar with a Parisian sense of style from the clever French folk behind Experimental Cocktail Club. They already have a Compagnie des Vins Surnaturels in Paris, along with 3 fantastic cocktail bars. The London branch feels like a stylish living room with sofas and armchairs in bold greens and swirls, and a wooden panelled staircase in one corner but also manages to maintain the atmosphere of the best cocktail bars in London; think Zetter Townhouse and 69 Colebrooke Row.

Wines are sold by the bottle and the glass (from what looks like the latest in wine-technology fridges). The wines themselves are pretty interesting, focusing on little known, smaller vineyards. There are up and coming whites from Spain and reds from Georgia, not your average findings. There was also sherry, port and champagne on offer but for those who aren't fans of the grape there's nothing else on offer except some overpriced water - don't be tempted to say yes when offered still or sparkling. I fell into that trap far too easily.

They also do food, a selection of cheeses, cold meats and appetisers. I didn't try any on my visit as I'd just finished a large meal at Yauatcha but the sight and smell of it all was hugely tempting, even on a full stomach.

N.B. They have also opened a "gourmet delicatessen" of sorts, a few of doors down from the bar.

// Updated look at some Summer menu dishes //

Neal's Yard in Seven Dials is one of those magical London spots that I'm always recommending but rarely visit myself. Homeslice is a smart pre-theatre option, but to best appreciate the space in all its green glory, go al fresco at Compagnie des Vins Surnaturels - a Parisian wine bar and restaurant from Experimental Group (Experimental Cocktail Club, Joyeux Bordel).

You can easily lose a few hours here working your way through their wine list whilst stuffing your face with charcuterie and cheese. I dropped in recently to have a look at some new Summer dishes over a few glasses of vino in the sunshine.

I'm no wine expert myself (yet) but we particularly enjoyed Clos Saint Fiacre Orleans L'Excellence Chardonnay, Loire, France 2013 and Thierry Germain Saumur l'Insolite, Loire, France 2013.

On the food front, we ordered Handmade Spinach Gnocchi with Ricotta & Almonds, Tuna Tatiki & Courgette with Sesame, and a Soy & Ginger Dressing and Fassona Beef Tartare with Spring Onions, Pine Nuts and a Quail's Egg.

The generous gnocchi was borderline dessert (in a good way) and indulgent in the extreme. The beef tartare had the right intentions but needed a touch more seasoning, whilst tasty tuna tatiki & courgette was subtle in its use of soy & ginger (enjoyably so).

Other new plates include a Summer salad with rocket, feta, peach and avocado, and Japanese aubergine rolls with dorset (?) and balsamic. However, you may find it hard to look past their ever present Posh Madame with Truffle Ham & Quail Egg. Either way, you'll be alright.

If the weather isn't holding, their dark, sexy interior space isn't a bad backup. Alternatively, hop on the Eurostar and pay the original Paris branch a visit. Santé!

Want to treat yourself to a swanky Parisian bar before theatre on a Thursday evening? Look no further than compagnie des vins in Neil’s yard. The pour was what you’d expect (not enough but it’s how the rich who can afford £15 wine sip and I’m a guzzler). The polenta with aubergine hummus was a df gf option and tasty for £8. Vibes unmatched, felt like I was in a grand place in Paris. Service was reminiscent of Parisian service- grumpy and judged so it gave authenticity.

A French-inspired gem of a wine bar in the heart of Neal’s yard with a fairly expansive menu of wine options from across the continent. Makes for a pretty great spot to sit in the courtyard sipping a nice glass of wine on a sunny day. Highly recommend trying the sweet wine and the German Riesling (both white)!

Service was initially speedy. I was with a friend I hadn't seen in over a year, so we were busy catching up before placing our order. We had a second waitress wait on us and she abruptly came and just took our menus away without asking if we were going to order. It felt like pulling teeth to ask to get the menus back. Once we got them back and ordered, service seemed back to normal. Food presentation beautiful, but the burrata and `beef tartare were just ok. Great wine and cute are tucked in Neil's Yard.
