Good food, good service, what more can I say certainly lives up to the reviews! The only negative was the cramped space, could do with more space between the tables. Food was the best I have tasted.

I love me a good curry, and London's Brick Lane is the epicentre of curry world, lined with restaurants serving up some of the best Indian cuisine in the city, if not the country. This restaurant's exterior isn't necessarily the most glamorous looking or standout on the street, with graffiti scribbles and a simple neon sign. But we were intrigued by the fact City Spice was an award-winning restaurant, and supposedly one of the best on Brick Lane.

The decor inside continued the simplicity, although the downstairs dining area which I nipped through to get to the loos seemed slightly more plush. The tables were quite close together so it did feel a little cosy when more people showed up. Our food did take a fair while to come out - it was almost at the point where it had been TOO long when it arrived.

Once we tucked in though, it was pretty obvious that the reason it took longer than expected was down to a real dedication to cooking great quality curry from scratch. I opted for the Chicken Makhani with rice, and we shared a cheese naan. I'd normally opt for something a bit hotter, but I did really enjoy it. The curry was really smooth, with a subtle taste that allowed the perfectly-cooked chicken and the chickpeas to stand out. The cheese naan wasn't actually that great, the cheese was very mature and there was a LOT of it on the naan, which resulted in it being very overpowering with my light tasting curry.

Another BIG DEAL for me when I'm off to an Indian is a good portion of mattar paneer - affectionately referred to by us as 'cheesy peas'. Which is basically what it is. They were tasty and a good consistency, the paneer not rubbery or overly chewy. The portion sizes overall were nice and generous, and the sauces offered with the pappadums had the best taste and selection of any Indian I've been to. I'm not convinced that City Spice is my favourite of Brick Lane's offerings yet, but it's definitely worth a punt for lovingly cooked, quality curry.

Got a good deal on food here, staff were pretty friendly. The restaurant was busy when we went on a Saturday but it was a quick turnover and we were sat pretty much immediately. It was a bit loud because of the acoustics in there. Food Could have been more spicy. I think it was also BYOB looked like a lot of people had brought their own drinks in

Reasonably priced on a Sunday - man outside offered 20% off, first round of drinks on the house (bottle of lager) Friendly, fast, attentive staff and good food. Nice ambience. Central location. Prices good for London. Can't say it's the best Indian I've ever had but was up there. Was pressured near the end though to leave a review, guy came round with QR code on business card and waited until we scanned it. Dropping a star due to this - I'd have written a review anyway! Overall recommended if you get offered a deal outside, believe the overall advice from locals is to haggle around and play the restaurants off against each other.

The staf is incredibly kind and was more then happy to recommend the best dish acording to our preferance. The vegan menu was surprisingly diverse and very tasty and the chicken curry was cooked to perfection. Would warmly recommend.

This is a great restaurant. We had great food and great service and everyone was very nice and helpful (even after I spilled my lassi all over). We had the duck tikka, paneer tikka, chicken jalfrezi and curryleaf chicken and all were very very delicious. Thank you to the chef and staff for a great experience.

Food and service are excellent, price is reasonable for London. Serving dishes are too hot, nearly burnt my hand, sink was blocked outside mems loos but, fixed it quickly. My partner found her rice a little dry but, loved the meal in general. Will visit again, excellent 👌!

We were on vacation and just wandering the area taking in the sites when we were approached by some people from the restaurant offering a discount. Given how hard the sales pitch was, I wasn't sure what to expect but the food was actually really great! And the service was just impeccable. We were there around 5pm so it was still pretty empty, but our drinks we're always full and the servers were happy to answer some silly American questions about Indian food. I also appreciated how they had a wide range of spice options to cover a variety of tastes. This was such an enjoyable meal and if I'm ever back in London, I'll definitely be stopping by again!

Dining here was a wonderful experience. The food was very tasty. The service was very good and none of them gave us the impression of being last and late. The chef actually came to ask about the food, its taste, quantity, etc and we were all full of compliments and would like to see you again.

I cannot praise this Indian restaurant enough. The ambiance exudes an elegant and comfortable atmosphere that's perfect for both intimate dinners and larger gatherings. What truly sets this place apart is the attention to detail in their dishes. The biryani is a work of art, with fragrant rice and perfectly marinated meat that leaves you craving more. The vegetarian options are equally impressive, showcasing the chef's creativity and dedication to delivering authentic Indian flavors. The service is not just efficient but also incredibly friendly, making you feel like a valued guest. I can't recommend this restaurant highly enough.

We got lured in here by the staff outside so I didn’t think it would be the best but I was pleasantly surprised and happy with our delicious meal! We got the meat thali and some other dishes. I especially loved all the different toppings to add to popadhams and other dishes. Only downside was the very slow service when we were the only customers in the restaurant. I would still be happy to eat here again!

When you're in the mood for Indian cuisine, this restaurant should be your top choice. The moment you walk in, the tantalizing aromas of spices and freshly baked naan greet you. The menu is extensive and caters to various preferences, from spicy curries to milder, creamy dishes. The tandoori dishes are a highlight, with tender meat marinated to perfection. The chef's mastery of balancing flavors is evident in every bite. The restaurant's commitment to using high-quality
