Helio's Cantina - London - Photo album

Combining a bar and restaurant on the front and a cute little cinema on the back this is a really cool space. Rumour also has it that it's owned by one of the founders of Secret Cinema. Movie tickets are great value and the gentle rumblings of the trains passing above only adds to the atmosphere.
Very quirky interesting place. I came here for an event and found it quite a cool place with a little bar, selling vinyls and cinema part. I think I'd come back here if there is another event I'm interested in. Also so close to London Fields station.
Nice food and atmosphere. The music was a bit loud during the dinner but definitely good tunes !
Wonderful little cinema tucked away in Hackney. Only £6 a ticket too!!
Great quirky place to watch a movie. Prices start from £6 for "airline" seats which are exactly as described. You can push the arm rest up which means you can still get cosy with your partner. You can take in your drink from the bar and no need to pour it into a plastic. Sound quality excellent. Big
The Institute of Light is a chill, stylish one-screen cinema, showing critically acclaimed recent releases at an amazing price point. I'd suggest incorporating showings of older films or classics a bit more often, as there are only two nightly showings. The kitchen residencies seem like a great ide
Love this place! the Record Store is the main reason I go there, with a great and fine selection of vinyls and with some special dj set happening sometimes. The ship keepers are helpful and have a big knowledge of fine music. I don't give 5* because something that could really improve the location:
I live next door so I starting going to Institute of lights from their first weeks :) Love the cinema (if you spoiled it's not your place I am afraid :) price just £6 and no any booking fees! Love the fact that they keep changing chefs and types of cuisines so we come back again and again. We have s
Had a Sunday roasted chicken, amazing food and great service. Highly recommended.
Cost £6 to watch a film which is an excellent price. The reason being I'd imagine is that you do get rumbles of trains from above and some noise from the bar during the film but not enough to ruin the film. The seats in the cinema itself are airplane seats and pretty comfortable. Would go back!
A very cool venue. This place just oozes style with it's modern layout, books and records on the shelves, unisex toilet, an auditorium where half the seating are sofas and now and then, the sound of a train rolling over the venue. I'm still not sure how I feel about the sounds from the trains as it
I have been there a couple of time now and I can really say that the food is impecable, made in true Italian style, to share, and promptly serve. The cinema also has very interesting film going on (French New-Wave, Music Documentary alongside the latest release and for £6 what is not to love). Even
What a lovely little intimate venue. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience provided by the Institute of Light, a very comfortable little cinema. They had a few technical issues at the start, but managed to resolve them without any major delays, so they are competent as well.
Had a lovely Chinese New Year meal here. It was really nice. The only downside was that the goodie bag at the end contained coconut chips with honey. Since this was a vegan event, they should have checked that.
Recent addition to the area, hybrid space offering a restaurant/bar, cinema and vinyl record store. This review is for restaurant, which has been great (have visited 3 times). Interesting flavours, but service can be hit or miss.
I was so surprised at this quaint little bar and cinema that you would walk by without realising it was there. Themed like being inside of an airplane it's quite charming and I was in awe at the cinema tucked away behind the cafe and bar. I attended a movie screening there but to know that they sho
