Loyal Tavern

Great atmosphere and decor. Staff were fantastic. Our waiter was great and very attentive (didn't catch his name but young, tattoos, short dark hair). As well as the other staff. We both found the food really delicious. Would definitely recommend. Loved the private meeting / dining area downstairs too.

Enjoyed Saturday brunch here. The food is very good. We ate a vegetarian selection which included avocado on toast with a pepper stew (small but tasty), a veggie breakfast which was excellent. Loved the eggy bread with caramelised banana, absolutely delicious! The interiors are industrial in style. Professional staff, great atmosphere. The table we sat at was very close to the next one which is the only negative thing I can say, apart from that everything was fabulous!

We had a mixed feeling when Loyal Tavern replaced the much loved neighbourhood favourite Village East. It took us awhile before we finally decided to try. The service was great and responsive (kudos!). We ordered a selection to try: Chicken skin crackling Toasted flat bread with hummus Charred Mackerel Fennel salad, and Poached Cod with beans I’ll admit the food quality was good, but the flavour was a bit hit and miss for our liking. Out of all our orders, the fennel salad and the poached cod was absolute winner and favourite. My partner wiped the flat bread so I guess it was good too. The rest was off for us. Mackerel is not suited for the dish it is trying to create, the chicken skin was covered in such thick sauce that it only tasted sauce. These dishes are failed creation in my opinion (pic below. Forgot to take pic for the good dishes) I’ll be back for the dishes that I like but still a little mixed feeling to order new things... might not be back too soon.
