Had the prawn dumplings and fresh salmon poke. Food was good, if you are using a London Japanese food standard. But don’t expect it’s authentic Japanese food and the food was in small portion.
The waitress was very polite and friendly. She offered me tap water after I said I won’t order drinks. The atmosphere was Japanese, the interior design and spatial arrangement and furniture reminded me my times in Japan. The restaurant also had lovely Japanese music.

Wow! The best Takoyaki in London?! Everything we ordered was delicious and expertly made. This small unassuming restaurant might be one of the best Japanese restaurants in London. The salmon teriyaki was stunning. Order the plum wine for an extra treat!
There's a lot to say.. Where do I begin... I love the small size of this restaurant, akin to a real deal experience of being in small restaurants in Japan. Don't be fooled by the reasonable prices, the quality of its sushi punches way above its weight! It's been a long time since I've had sushi this good before; texture of the sushi rice was correct, the seaweed had lovely flavour and had some very nice chew to it, and the salmon was very fresh, been left close to room temperature and melted in your mouth. Generous size too within each section. Whoever made the sushi knows what they're doing, and would make any top Japanese sushi chef proud! 🍣😎👏
Sushi Score: 10/10
As for the katsu curry, I didn't expect the flavour profile of the curry, different to what I expected but it was still lovely, the star of the show was the chicken, very very crispy, but not hard, and cooked just right, with the chicken moist and tender in the middle. Unfortunately the quality of the rice in this instance wasn't great compared to the rest
Katsu curry score: 8/10
Doroyaki was a plesent surprise also, with a lovely cold filling of macha that gave a cool and slight bitter profile (as expected from macha flavour) . Pancake was soft and fluffy, nothing to complain about!
Dorayaki dessert score: 9/10
I give my highest recommendation possible. Try it and see for yourself! The sushi alone is a real winner. Lovely hidden gem in London and a complete surprise to a big sushi fan :D.
Wish every success to Morinoya and the team. I will definitely be back! ;)
A nice and tiny Japanese restaurant. Considering the space they have, the food have quite a variety of selection. They have lunch set during lunchtime as well, so it's also a good lunch spot. The flavour is also quite authentic. The space might be limited for handicap, but apart from that, all are good. Excellent service
My first visit to this restaurant and I was recommended the chicken katsu curry by friends so I ordered this dish.
The katsu was crispy on the outside, and the Japanese curry also tasted delicious, so I enjoyed the dish.
The service by the staff was also good. The restaurant is very small, and we were a fairly large group, but the staff moved the tables to accommodate us, and the food orders came fairly promptly.
Great soft shell crab, sushi was okay, miso soup was a little lacking in the miso department.
Quite a small place, little on the noisy side acoustically, everything seemed very fresh.
New favourite sushi restaurant in London!! Small but very authentic, only a few tables which makes it more special. We loved everything we ordered from the menu, no exceptions and that never happens, shout out to the chefs. The quality of the fish is really good and the ratio fish/rice in the sushi is amazing! Loved the miso soup, prawn gyozas, the temakis were great as well as the crispy prawn roll uramaki. Expensive but worth it. Special mention to the Spanish waitress that served us, she was helpful and really nice. We will be back for sure.
Visited early evening on a Saturday in mid October. We had a great dinner overall. We enjoyed a variety of dishes, including a few starters and, for the mains, chicken katsu curry and teriyaki chicken udon. All the food was nicely prepared, tasty, uncomplicated. Very good value for money. Friendly service. It’s a small restaurant, only around five tables inside. We were pretty lucky to get a table as there was only one unreserved when we arrived around 5.30pm. Glad we found this spot and hope to visit it again in the future.
Beautiful food served by polite and friendly staff. Katy’s curry was a good size and tasted great, salmon avocado rolls were the nicest I’ve ever had, salmon sashimi was extremely fresh, delicate cuts. Good range of high quality sake. We sat outside with was great the stools were surprisingly comfortable and the atmosphere was great. 5 stars!!
Nice, simple, and small. Very unassuming and feels authentic but I don’t think the food quite is. Everything is freshly made and good quality but nothing to blow you away. Service is quite lacking as it seems at times they don’t have enough staff.
