We really enjoyed our meal at The Barbary. It's a little tucked away near Neal's Yard and isn't real large inside but you have all the room you need once you're seated. We were told up to a 40 minute wait (no booking) but were seated inside 20 minutes. All the dishes were great, had a carafe of something Granadan (seemed to suit the occasion) and it was a great little wine. Meals were unique and well-balanced. Service was attentive, helpful, and fun; staff were great to chat with. We were quite full when we left, despite expecting a light tapas dinner. Highly recommend stopping by.
Food is small portions but soo good! Had the grilled chicken, it is so smoky and tender! The spicy crème brûlée is also nice, sweet and spicy hit.
The sea bass tartare is fine but not impressive compared with others.
The eggplant one is also decent, it is spiced and seasoning nice.
Although it is a bit pricey, it is worth to try once!
Didn’t recognise anything on the menu but the staff were so helpful and took us through everything. Fun vibe and excellent food. Highly recommend the octopus and the pepper/feta cold dish.
The Barbary Next Door is VERY small and you’ll sit at the counter so don’t take big bags!
Everything we ordered was delicious and the service was great too! The aubergine dip was my favourite! It had a smoky flavour which I loved.
Intimate setting, excellent service, and amazing food that makes you want to travel to Morocco immediately.
We came here on Valentine’s Day and loved it. Staff are so attentive (and catered well for my nut allergy) and the food is just incredible. Flavours are interesting and exciting. Dishes are to share - although quite expensive, it’s worth it!
Great service, good food, especially the salmon and Jerusalem Bagel. Other dishes tasted good, but the spices used were a little samey towards the end.
Usually we rate food and service, how about a a memory, dinning in this resturant was an amazing & memorable experience! Looooooved the food, flavors were rich but not strong so wont mess up ur taste buds, proportion was well measured. Servers (who i regreted not asking him his name) were super friendly and helpful and keep ur company in very polite, & nice way possible.
Excellent food and service. Our waitress was so friendly and super attentive. Sitting round the bar and kitchen gives a nice experience. The cauliflower dish, seabass and musabaha were amazing. Nice wine.
Neatly tucked away in Neal’s Yard, The Barbary Next Door is a complete delight. The hum of Covent Garden paired with impeccable service and food makes this an eatery to return to.
The khobz bread was soft and pillowy and the aubergine and red pepper dips accompanied it perfectly. A perfect sharing menu in an open air yet intimate setting - heaven!
Little sister to the amazing restaurant next door. Absolutely excellent food, fresh and fun combinations of classic North Afircan fare. You get what you pay for for sure. A reduced menu compared to main restaurant next door. They serve breakfast and lunch light bites, all plates are small but very very savoury and lovely. We sat in the Neal’s yard courtyard and the service from Sam was excellent. Will be back.
This is an exceptional restaurant. I love almost everything on their menu. The personal favourite of mine is the Ikra and the hummus with the Jerusalem bagel. I love the horseshoe pattern and the fact that you can see how the food is prepared. The Neal's yard is also super nice. I highly recommend this restaurant!
We had an incredible dinner and time at the Barbary Next Door. A pretty different culinary experience compared to the Barbary but with some similarities too (breads, sharing plates, dips and more). Everything we ordered was delicious and the service was great. Will definitely come back.
A beautiful and cozy feeling I got the moment we entered the Restaurant. (Vas) seated us and explained each dish eloquently. Started with Four cheese bourekas, brown egg, tomato & zhug followed with Berries with tahini, greek yogurt, date molasses. Our main dish was Bus station eggs & Jerusalem bun with avocado & fried quail eggs. Finally had to try the yummiest almond croissants in London!
I felt so welcome and well looked after at The Barbary Next Door, a charming spot in funky Seven Dials. I loved the vibe at this small counter style restaurant that features the North African-Moorish flavours of The Barbary Coast. The waiter thoughtfully described the various options on the menu, and I started with a glass of red wine, BOA from Valencia, Spain. My appetizer was Afghan khobz, a freshly baked pillow of bread topped with sesame seeds, and tirshi, a colourful dip of butternut squash, tahini and harissa. My main was the chicken and apricot tagine, intensely seasoned and addictive, accompanied by a small bowl of couscous. A sweet ending came with the sfenj, a Moroccan doughnut tossed in sugar and served piping hot in a paper bag with a pot of orange-chocolate-tahini ganache for dipping. It was an adventure in dining. Highly recommended.
What’s not to love?
Found this place when looking for breakfast in the area. Fantastic food, fantastic staff and great vibes. Cosy and friendly. It’s an adventure in flavors and I am totally here for it. Go here or miss out big. I even started eating before managing to take a photo, and that says something in this day and age.
This is my favourite restaurant for date night! It’s a bit pricey but I always choose to come back. The food is amazing and the atmosphere is amazing ❤️
