Went for Sunday lunch...extreemly warm, welcome from the manager and his team, although we had not booked they found us a table immediately The Sunday roast excellent, perfectly presented l had the mixed roast, beautiful cut of tender beef very succulent chicken good roast potatoes perfect Yorkshire pudding and delicious vegetables superb rich gravy such a generous portion had no room for pudding A great family ambience ,knowledgeable staff who proved very attentive ..perfect ...will return to savour their extensive and well balenced varied menu one evening with friends. l was trained by the legendry Keith Floyd as a chef who's 'wake' was at Ashton Court I said to my friend " If Floyd was here he would approve " he agreed .I usually moan about Sunday lunches away from home cooked muttering 'could do better myself '. Well this experience was *****star ; Very spacious lots of families eating and they allow dogs in ..great . l glimpsed a log fire too with lovely views of the nearby estate .An excellent place to begin or finish a walk around the Ashton Court Estate.
I visited the restaurant for Father’s Day and thoroughly enjoyed my visit. The food was lovely and the staff were very helpful. I definitely recommend!
really nice pub restaurant with plenty of character from old wooden beams, indoor firepits and large outdoor pit. went for valentines day and the food was amazing! the drinks were a little pricey, more than the average bar but then im from weston. The service was very good and often asked us did we need or want anything. defo worth the tip we gave. will gladly go again and would easily recommend.

Lovely pub, Friendly staff, great service by Ben. Highly recommend, will definitely come back when next in town
Fantastic service and excellent hospitality from Ben and his team. Would highly recommend the salmon tacos & seafood linguine. The chocolate bomb was outstanding too
Booked for lunch at one
Was shown to a lovely table
Staff were really friendly
Food was really top class
Was advised on a gin I had not tried before and was really good
Our waitress who came from Birmingham was very attentive and informative about the courses
All together a really good experience
First time of visiting this pub and have to say the food was excellent. First time ever having fresh pineapple served with a gammon steak. Shame we couldn't manage a dessert.
We had a lovely meal here on the Saturday of the Balloon Fiesta. All of our food was to a very high standard, the staff were lovely and the area we were sat in was cosy. The only downside was that it took over 3h 30 to have 3 courses due to slow service on the food which meant that we missed the nighttime glow up of the balloons. I appreciate they were very busy, but we really were sat there for a very long time! 😂
My boyfriend and I came to this place spontaneously, was a very nice surprise. Delicious passion fruit martini, fantastic dirty burgers and the biscoff bomb was amazing (very rich) will definitely return here for date nights!
Came on a Sunday afternoon for a roast. The place is very nice and the atmosphere was great. There were places for a fire too when it's cold which I'm sure would be very lovely. There was a great selection of beers and cider on tap. The food was great. I had roast beef and the meat was beautifully tender and the whole meal tasted great. The sticky toffee pudding was also divine and great portion size. My only downside would be that I wasn't a huge fan of the roast potatoes, they tasted like they were perhaps reheated so they lost the fluffiness I would otherwise expect.
Overall a great experience
Lunch on the 2nd of June 2023:
Left Clevedon along the B3128 Ashton road to Bristol and as it was approaching lunchtime, I saw this pub restaurant and swung into the carpark.
Lovely country characterful building and found a brolly covered table outside in courtyard garden which was lovely even more so on a very hot day...
Went inside and placed my order. The inside is very stylish, rustic and full of warmth charm.
My lunch an All Day "Pan-fried King Prawns with chilli and feta Ciabatta" with a side of crispy chips was more than enough for me. It's was the so good to see that they had one of my favourite ales on tap and "Neck Oil Beaver Town" pint to accompany my delicious lunch choice was outstandingly fantastic!
It was hard to leave to carry on to Bristol but needs must and so I did reluctantly.
Thanks Nigel and the rest of the staff for such an amazing experience and visit.
Nigel, I most definitely will visit The Merchants Arms once I'm settled down in Hotwells, Bristol and cheers for the heads up on this Bristol ol school gem of a pub!
Recommend this pub restaurant and do book ahead is my advice..
Staff was extremely helpful and sociable which made our visit very enjoyable. The food was great. We found the bar busy but a little loud as one of our group has aphasia and the loudness affected her ability to think of the correct words. Perhaps next time we may request a quiet table.
Only been twice so far but both times the food was absolutely brilliant. The dirty burger was probably the best burger I've ever had. Thick burger, juicy in the middle, and the gravy dripping topped it off a treat. My 10 year old went for the cheeseburger sliders from the kids menu (2 mini cheeseburgers with fries) and it was the same quality of beef, which she thoroughly enjoyed. Will definitely be back.
Thank you to the team at the Ashton for hosting our Western Night League Orienteering "Pub of the Night"! After an hour of running around Ashton Court in the dark, it was great to come into a warm friendly pub for a very tasty Pie and Mash. The team were very accommodating too, keeping the kitchen open long enough that the very tired course setters could come and eat too! Will definitely be back.
Great food, good wine. Nice service although there wasn't any custard but I wasn't told that before I ordered, only once it arrived. That said, food was nicely presented and very good quality. I would recommend
Great service from Kayla and a lovely atmosphere, with a log burning fire.
Our food was delicious, I had a prawn nourish bowl and my husband had a steak sandwich. We come here regularly and love the food coupled with a nice walk at Ashton Court.
We had a lovely experience at the Ashton yesterday. We were celebrating my nieces 1st birthday. We were given a lovely big table in a quieter area of the pub. The staff and food were excellent, will be coming again soon. Thank you 😊
Lovely place. Very busy service a little slow but the food was great. Calories printed on the menu 😋 went to Ashton Gate first then here as recommended by others. Good atmosphere.
Good menu, good food, excellent choice of drinks

Over the space of four days the service improved dramatically. I don't know if it was a better, more efficient team over the weekend or just more effective management. Food was consistently good apart from too many chips served with the meals.
Lovely pub in lovely area. I stupidly did miss the parking notices and so didn't enter my car details at the bar which makes it free. So got a ticket through the post, however the staff at the Ashton got straight on it and sorted with the parking company to cancel out. Thanks again and will be back
Lovely Friday night meal. Was served by Daisy who made sure that all our needs were met and always had a lovely smile. Would recommend the pork belly and the chocolate bomb! Also good vegetarian options
Great service with friendly and happy staff. Food was lovely, our table of 5 ordered fish and chips, burgers and the brisket pie…no complaints (the pie was phenomenal! Highly recommend!)
Will definitely return 😊
Came in for a Sunday roast. Yorkshire pudding was a bit dry, but the rest was nice. Very friendly staff. Thank you so much
