Mr Chans Restaurant

Really amazing food here! I really enjoyed everything that was brought out to the table. We went for the Set Meal D which included a variety of starters for each person 3 dishes from the set meal menu (for the 2 of us) and a platter of fresh fruit! I understand these are difficult times for everyone in every profession however if my food is taking a while I would still expect someone to let us know whilst they're passing by our table that that's the case. I've also realised that the waiter who served us didn't exactly know what was included in the set meal as once we've finished our main meal we remembered that there should also be a fruit platter and when we asked him about it, he didn't know about it at all. There also seems to be a bit of lack of communication between the staff members as we asked the waiter, who brought us our food, for some more water but because he was busy he told us to ask the other waitress instead who was also busy clearing tables at the other side of the dining room which meant we had to wait another 5 minutes with empty glasses to get her attention to get some drinks as approaching people is now very frowned upon due to Covid-19. Besides that, it was still a great atmosphere. I would definitely recommend to go there and will hopefully manage to come here again myself soon too but there is definitely place for improvement

First time here in 10 or more years and little has changed, which is a good thing as the food remains excellent and the staff were most helpful! We had the Sunday buffet and the service was great - they even asked if we wanted any specific dishes topping up. The only thing that may bother some people is the dated décor, but I personally found it a welcome and tasteful throwback in an era of hipster pits and pretentious designs - this is just a proper old-school restaurant, and the upholstery is by no means tatty and is well-kept. Last two notes - I love that the fish tank I can remember from when I was a kid is still there, and I highly recommend the Chicken in Yellowbean (Cashew) sauce. A great visit, and I certainly can't wait another decade to go back again! :)
