Review The Yew Tree - Lower Wield

A stunning find⚡⚡ We both agree that this is one of the most charming English pubs we've ever visited (and Himself has visited a LOT🤭). We received a very warm welcome and we were squeezed in for Saturday lunch. The food was absolutely sensational and the chefs are clearly of a very high standard. The gravy was perfect, thick and glossy, the trio of sausages delightful atop tasty crispy bubble and squeak BUT for me the highlight of highlights was the shepherds pie🎉🎉 They used lamb chunks instead of mince, the mash on top was piped and then grilled. It was mouthwatering good and enough for two (or one with leftovers). The interior is beautiful, a nice combination of old English pub and the great British pop culture (ie. Beatles and Rolling Stones playing, lots of vinyls, James Bond art in the lavatories. We're already on a waiting list for tomorrow Sunday lunch haha!

This is really a fantastic little pub. It was by pure chance me and my partner found this pub, and what a treat it is. This is a lovely little country pub with some nice beers on tap. Seating out the front is good and under cover, aswell as to the side of the pub. The parking is very good, there is parking right next to the pub answell as 50yards down the road. Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to have any food there as they were very busy but the food that was coming out looked and smelt great. We will definitely be returning for food.

Lovely pub down a country lane in the middle of nowhere. Unsurprisingly, it was quite busy on a Sunday afternoon. Food looked very good and must be recommended, as the restaurant was full. Nice selection of beers. Friendly staff and locals. Plenty of seating inside and outside (under a marquee). Car park and overflow car park.

Stunning pub food. Came as a group of 7 with a toddler and dog, the staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. We were there for Sunday lunch and with most the group going for roast I had the Irish Stew special and my wife had the Thai Chicken Salad (very spicy, be warned!). All the food was fantastic quality and they brought platters full of veg for the middle of the table. Great value and great quality, highly recommend.

We stopped for lunch on our walk of the local area to find a typical country village pub and restaurant. Unassuming on the outside but once through the doors several comfortable rooms surrounding a generous bar. Rooms mostly set for dining. Two local cask ales on offer and both sampled were in excellent condition and well served by friendly staff. The menu had a reasonable selection but an odd preponderance of dishes served with boiled rice. The food was tasty. Busy for a weekday lunchtime. Uncomfortably low lighting in our dining area.

Loved my Thai salad. Would skip puddings next time. Almost gastro pub quality in an area with stiff competition.

Perfect....in literally every way. Great food, reasonably priced, and quickly delivered. Friendly staff, excellent professional front of house, lovely garden, all round good pricing of drinks too. Stunning burger, the best for a long time. This is now to do a pub!! Really well done!

What a night..5 friends who have done a lot of walking..South Downs Way...Wayfarers Way etc. Looking for a pub to meet and celebrate a great year of walking. Little did we know we would have the best night of the year courtesy of the wonderful hosts and bar staff ..truly a night of nights..have not laughed so much in a long time..the banter went on all night and in between we had great food and great ales. This is truly a special place. Thank you. It is in the middle of nowhere but well worth seeking out. In the words of Arnie ..I'll be back!!!
