The last thing I expected when we called in here was a decent meal. I have been passed this pub on and off for the last 50 years and have never called in untill today. The beer selection is a bit sparce but I was offered a taste of the guest befor committing which I turned down and went straight for the pint. Well impressed for a room temperature beer. I quess if it had been a hot day I would have to have gone for one of the cold lagers. Whilst looking at the menu board and not finding anything to suite us (and there was a massive choice), the chef happened to walk past and offered assistance. We told him what we would have liked for lunch and he said he would oblige, it would just take a few extra minutes. I have very rarly had such good service. On top of that the food was well presented and tasted second to none. I wont be driving past without stopping again, unless it closing time.

Recently renovated. Open plan but 3 areas. Bar to left, lounge to right and "Galley" restaurant to rear. Staff friendly and helpful. On my visit there were 4 beers available. Mostly unusual ones. Served at room temperature. Bar and lounge both very pleasant and bright with wooden floors. Restaurant tables spread out almost to the point of sparse but good thing if you don't like being too snug! Food not particular cheap given the location - Sunday lunch £9.50, desserts £4.50. However, it is very nicely presented and tastes great too. Desserts where very good also. Chef said hello as he passed through and asked if the food was OK. Also they are child friendly. I would say the only niggles we had is they wouldn't serve a glass of milk and we had problems paying by card because of a faulty terminal. And rather than trying to sort it out or using a back up system we had to pay cash. No idea what would have happened if we hadn't the cash!! Highly recommended though.

Our first visit the The Ship, there were 4 adults and 2 children in our group. We were allocated a nice big table in the spacious restaurant area. The Sunday roast dinners were fantastic, well cooked meat, potatoes and vegetables topped off with a massive home made Yorkshire pudding. The kids meals were great, very good sized portions which they both really enjoyed. The dessert selection was a little limited but all very tasty. The team were friendly, cheerful and helpful, the service was efficient and attentive. All round this was a great experience. Well done!

Lovely meal last night at the Ship. Excellent food you could tell the quality of the ingredients was top notch so tasty. Easily one of if not the best food In the local area. Nice atmosphere and great friendly staff. Restaurant is nice and cosy not overcrowded, not at any time did we feel rushed to leave a great overall experience and will definitely be back soon. Keep up the great work

What an absolute gem of a pub, amazing food, fantastic bar staff, lovely atmosphere and beautifully renovated and decorated, and very well run by the landlady Donna and her sister Kirsty behind the bar. Would highly recommend a visit if in the local area.

Lovely family run pub. Free house, guest ales and a good selection of non brand wines. Sky football and a really good separate restaurant.

Went there for lunch today with a friend. We decided to try the 2 for £20 deal, which was a main & pudding. My friend had turkey schnitzel which blue cheese, salad & chips, I chose king prawn salad & garlic bread, we both followed with Eaton mess. Excellent value for money, attentive service & spotlessly clean. I would definitely go again, in fact we have already booked.

We had lovely meals. Everything was hot and tasty. I had not been in the pub for 50 years. Will definitely go again. Friends told me they do lovely meals. My friend had two courses for 10 pounds. That was a bargain. 😊 thanks
