How wonderful it would be to sit here on a warm, sunny summer’s evening with champagne and oysters. We’d really enjoyed the meal and thought Hix Oyster & Fish House a great place. We then went for a walk down to the beach and harbour.

A fantastic meal. The seafood was extremely fresh and everything was made with great care and attention to detail. It’s the first time we’ve had cockles popcorn and it was delicious - especially with vinegar drizzled on top. The mussels were divine and the prawn burger was very filling and packed with prawn. The scrumpy (fried oyster) was very well made - considering how wet oysters can get, it was impressive that they came out so crispy. The team was attentive and the place has a lovely view. Very glad we found this place during our visit and managed to book a table.

Absolutely lovely evening with a fantastic view over Lyme Regis and the port. The food, although we only went for starter and oysters, was absolutely delicious and fresh as they come. The staff were, attentive, friendly and just amazing. Yes, as a few others have commented it is a pricier than usual restaurant but it’s worth it for a special evening.

Epic location, most definitely recommended to sit at the outside stools in great weather and take in the luxurious views. The fare is top, just make sure to ask the staff for what has come in and when and how it is prepared on the day. Service was great, staff was nice. Prices obviously err on the higher side but if you get to sit with views like this, it simply is worth it.

A magical place, wonderful food, friendly staff and a view to die for. We had Korean fried fish, and smoked trout with soda bread, followed by cod with Poole cockles and scallops with Chorizo. We loved the Black Cow vodka, and how it was solely made from cow's milk. The way it was served in a little glass with another small full bottle nestled in an iced glass was great fun and my Morello cherry cocktail hit the spot For desert it was the cheeseboard for him, and panna cotta for me. We only booked dinner here because we'd walked past a couple of days before, liked the look, booked up dinner then stayed on to have some oysters and a glass of wine for lunch. The staff remembered us for dinner and were just as warm and friendly. In particular the Maitre D and the young woman who served us with long dark hair and light coloured eyes were super nice. Mark Hix's restaurant is a feather in Lyme Regis's cap and well worth a visit. One of the highlights of our holiday #happydays

My second visit to the Oyster & Fish House alone. Once again I was made very welcome by the friendly, knowledgeable and super professional staff. The setting is stunning and the food outstanding. I had frito misto followed by roast monkfish tail with green sauce and vegetables. Fantastic quality, simple and fresh - exactly what I wanted. For a special occasion meal to remember it's also very reasonable. If you love fish and seafood this place is a must when you're in Lyme.

Excellent restaurant. Great food and absolutely delightful staff. From the moment we walked in until home timeFreya and Matt looked after us so well. Try their Voignier as an aperitif, delicious. I had the Cauliflower Pekora followed by the whole blackened Sea Bream and then Isle of Wight blue cheese. My wife had the fritto misto with some salad and fries followed by iced and chocolate sauce. All the food was cooked to perfection with gorgeous flavours. The decor and sublime panoramic views go further to make a wonderful dining experience. We'll done Mark Hix and his team! Perfect.

Had the most amazing time here. The food was excellent but it was the staff that made the experience; super helpful, kind & knowledgeable about the menu. Would 100% recommend.

We pop in for our anniversary, with our 7months baby. Being from the industry and aware of the challenges we are facing, our experience was fenomenal. They make us feel very cool and relax since we popped in. Suggestions were perfectly recommended by Faye and his colleague. Food was delicious, tasty simple food every bite. And we had quite a lot of food.

The setting and building is absolutely gorgeous, but the servers and food make this spot a must. Freya was accommodating to our large party with 2 toddlers and made us feel like we were eating at a friends home. Her welcoming spirit and overall passion for the menu made for the best experience. I was so satisfied with the miso fruto , hake, monkfish pie and the soda bread is to die for . Will definitely be back!

This is a lovely restaurant, I took my 4 year old for lunch. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. Our food was delicious, beautiful ingredients and cooked to perfection. The views are stunning from everywhere within the restaurant. Will definitely be visiting again. The Oysters were beautifully creamy, monkfish with capers and butter so meaty yet juicy and cheese and biscuits for dessert. My daughter had the popcorn cockles (amazing), hake (very nice and simply cooked) and ice-cream.

We had wanted a late lunch and were pleased to discover that we could book a table for 2.00pm as not so many restaurants offer this facility. The initial table we were offered was not to our liking and when we asked if we could move, it was accomplished without any fuss or drama. The food had been carefully prepared using very good quality ingredients and the Lyme Bay scallops were beautifully fresh and superbly prepared and presented. Similarly, the Thornback Ray and the Grilled Lobster were just as we would have wished. Finally, there was a good selection of desserts that had been chosen with care and imagination. Regrettably, our first-choice wine was not available and I felt that overall, the drink prices were at the high end of the scale. Service was friendly and attentive and of course, there's the view. In summary, there was very little to find fault with and we certainly enjoyed our meal and would recommend this restaurant to anyone who appreciates the best of British seafood.

Hands down some of the best seafood available in Lyme. Lovely restaurant, cosy and laid back but some sharp and very tasty cookery going on. Brilliant view, try and grab the table for two by the window if you can. My only issue was the service was a bit lacklustre, it took almost 20 minutes before we had our drinks served and nearly an hour for the first course. Just as we ordered our dessert we were given a 10 minute warning, despite us moving as fast as the service would allow, we were presented a receipt as we were eating our dessert (we didn’t ask for it yet). The waiting staff were all lovely but no one asked us if we wanted more drinks throughout the service, we just had to grab someone as they were cleaning up our course.

This was everything we had wished for and well worth the journey. Fabulous location, lip-smackingly delicious food and cheerful service. We were even treated to some birthday truffles. The cockle popcorn, prawn burger and asparagus soup came route 1 from culinary heaven. Check out the counter seats too; best view in the house! This is what great British hospitality is all about. Bravo!!
