Hennighans Top Shop

Really good, high-quality fish which was sizeable and worth the price. The chips were good even after the drive back to my accommodation where I ate my meal - if you have a car with heated seats I’d recommend using them to keep it hot! I ordered online and then collected from the shop. Was ignored when I entered the shop despite standing at the collection point and trying to get the attention of the staff - then when someone did talk to me my order had been sat on the counter all along! Not the best.

Visit here when passing through and it's an absolute treat. The fish and chips are first class and some of the best that I have had. Always fresh and cooked to perfection. Good sized portions and great value for money. I would thoroughly encourage people to try them out, I'd be surprised if you are disappointed.

If ever you're in Machynlleth, do yourself a favour and stop by Hennighan's (I ate at the bottom shop, I'm sure it's much the same at the top shop). They do the best curry sauce, so deliciously fruity, it's out of this world! Oh, and also the service was brilliant too, it was quick and also friendly! Before I forget, the cup of tea was fantastic too! I wish I had some photos of the chips that I drenched in the curry sauce. 😬

Had fish and chips in an upmarket restaurant earlier in the week and although good was not as good as Hannigans in Machynllyth, the fish had a really crisp batter, and the tasty mushy peas were made on the premises . I was also given some really good homemade curry sauce as a taster! Highly recommend this place, you can eat in or take away.

My friend recommended this place to me so I was glad to try it. The food was fresh and well cooked. It was very tasty and the staff are nice and friendly. I would definitely recommend a visit here if you are near Machynlleth. Free on street parking too, a small but pleasant town centre to have a wander and burn off the chippy food.

We asked to do our daughters birthday party here for her and a few friends and they was more than accommodating, they dressed the table and done helium balloons. Also next door is studio 13 , their ice cream and pudding shop , we was able to pre order cupcakes for after dinner and they were beautifully made and delicious. The staff are all very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The food itself was great , fish was beautiful.

After a 12hr shift in the cold, I didn’t fancy kebab or anything from the hotel I was staying in. I searched for Fish and Chips and Hennighan’s came up. I walked into a lovely welcome, they’re the only take away accepting card payments, and their chips and sausage I bought were lovely (and the portion huge), but the curry sauce. The curry sauce is something I will be returning for. It was decently spicy, really tasty and moreish. It’s the first time I’ve scraped to clean the container. I’m back in the area in a fortnight, so will see you again Hennighans!
