What a lovely gem of a place to stop for lunch / afternoon tea / cream tea or just a bit of cake. Suitable for all ages. The Staff are all very helpful and friendly couldn’t do enough for us. I live in Maldon and didn’t know that it was there. It’s obviously been too long since I have been to the Prom. Well worth a visit!!

Had a family wake here today in a lovely snug. The girls laid on afternoon tea for 12 of us. They were very respectful, greeting us politely with a smile. Ensuring we were all present, they brought out our tea and prosseco for a toast. The food was scrumptious. Cake so fine, cream in abundance, sandwiches with every combination possible, even catering for lactose intollarance, vegan and vegetarians, without even blinking. They even gave us tin foil and bags to take away the leftovers, and my did we have some leftovers! We were full up to bursting. I have no hesitation in recommending these guys on the delightful barge, decorated so tastefully. Thankyou guys so much. Our relative would have loved it. And so did we. Sarah and Geoff Vernau.

Popped in for lunch yesterday as the pub we normally eat at was full. Won’t be going back to the pub! Service was friendly, food was great and generous (our 7 year old loved his “monster” jacket potato!) and the homemade cakes were delicious. See you again soon!

Visited the tea room over Christmas such a lovely atmosphere and a great Xmas menu. Staff were super friendly, such a unique tea room and loved the home made cakes.

After a nice walk along the promenade my hubby and I popped aboard for coffee and a toasted tea cake. What a lovely idea for a cafe! Lovely energetic staff made us very welcome. We sat inside and there were lots of people outside. Very popular place.

We found it a wonderful experience, often looked but being disabled never ventured below decks. As we had the aid of our son and friend it was possible to negotiate the deck and stairs. Well worth the effort, excellent service friendly staff. Food was really good too. Would definitely make the effort again. Go on give it a try.

The Barge Tearooms provided a very welcome refuge after a cold December walk along the Promenade. Food was good and the staff friendly. Nice place to sit and relax in surroundings which are quirky and a little bit different to the usual shabby chic eateries.

It’s not every day you can say you’ve had lunch on a barge!! Very special, lovely food and friendly service. We will be back.
