We pitched our caravan with electric hookup etc for not the first time . We had lots of space for games. The showers and washing facilities in the field are great, hidden in the maize, also some in the games room area with instant hot water. which was always clean. We had great fun using our kayak on the lake, walking around the footpath , there's also a decent climbing frame for the kids to play on. The maize maze provided hours of entertainment too. The brunch at the cafe was also great, From the campsite we walked along the sea wall to Heybridge Basin where there are two nice pubs and a cafe, and a short drive away there's Maldon Prom which feels like a trip to the beach, and some secret swimming spots along the river. We will be back!

We had a very relaxing weekend here! Definitely returning. Children loved the maze and children's play area and we all loved being out on the lake on our kayaks! Enjoyed a pottery session too and were able to take the finished products away less than 24hours after - amazing service Sam! Thank you.

We stayed in the birdsong camp.
It was a lovely purpose built safari lodge tent.
It has a kitchen and heating, small lounge and a front porch to sit and watch the birds fly and hear their song.
It has a private firepit and hot tub.
It has its own entrance and dedicated shower and toilet, in the games room shower block
It's like a private secluded hideaway within the camp itself.

Incredible experience, beautiful quiet surrounded by nature, excellent hosts, could not find a better campsite if you tried.

This is one of the most beautiful campsites I've ever been to. Sam is accommodating as is her family. The facilities are kept clean, everything is reasonably priced. The lake is great and we even got a fishing lesson on site. We have been 6 times last season and couldn't fault any time. Obviously the more people on the site the more mud in the showers, but there is equipment to rinse out after yourself. We have also made use of the wood fire oven for pizza and just generally had a great time here.
One thing we got caught out with was how hard the ground was over the summer months compared to May/September, so you will need rock pegs, you can get 20 for about £10. The first night we turned up in the summer, in the dark, our neighbours helped us by lending some as our pegs just bent in the ground, as they where cheap and came with the tent. We were out the next day and now we have 120 of them!

We have stayed at site 7 times. It is absolutely beautiful. Relaxing we have enjoyed every stay. Facilities are great clean and Sam (owner) could not be more helpful. Well worth a visit. Dont want to put much more as it will be fully booked up and we wont get a place. 5 stars

My partner treated me to this amazing place as a birthday treat.
We had the most peaceful and relaxing break away. We can't wait to come back.
Everywhere clean and well presented.
Our new favourite place to be.

Beautiful setting only 30mins from home. Only came to try out our folding camper for the first time but would definitely come again. The showers were superb heat and pressure, could have done with some toilet roll as there wasn’t any on Sunday morning.
Recommend to all

The great bonus of that place is access, in 90 min we get there from West London trough M25. Great place for chilling by the lake, learning paddleboarding or kayaking. The Chingborough Farm is located close to the sea side. Staying on the Farm you won't be bored as it ping-pong table, snooker pizza oven where you can make your own pizza.

Nice campsite with large pitch sizes. Lovely lake setting, when we went it had a nice friendly atmosphere and lots of families and kids. Nice play area for the kids.
There are issues with the loos, they are situated in wet rooms and only 3 in total which means in the morning there is a queue for people wanting to use the showers so you can’t use the loos, there are two more a little more of a walk away. Also we found on the Sunday the loos and sinks to be dirty with no loo paper, so bring your own. The wash up sink area is situated behind a eating area next to the pizza oven so if that’s in use with a family eating there it’s too tight for room to get to the sink so it can’t be used.
So generally nice, but facilities basic and limited in size.

Another fantastic break at Chigborough farm. The site is very clean and peaceful with lots to do for the kids including a maze, games room and play park. The lake is a massive bonus and you can hire boats for very reasonable rates. Really excellent campsite.

We stayed in Woodpecker Pod for 4 nights.
Kitchen was fully equipped with fridge, microwave, toster and kitchen utensils.
Also had gas barbecue outside.
We had our own private toilet in a Fishery Lodge, but campsite toilets were closer and had showers. Everything was clean.
We enjoyed our stay in beautiful surroundings. Other people were very friendly, owners were popping in on their quads always happy to help.
My only advice would be to bring food with you, as there was no shop in a walking distance. But if you dont mind driving there are shops like Asda nearby.
