Review The Lion At Malpas - Malpas

We had a beautiful meal, I had the Korean chicken burger and the flavours were immense, including the slaw! Would 100% order it again, my Husband ordered the fish and chips (small) and it was more than enough for a full grown man, the large must be huge! And the brownie was hot with gorgeous honeycomb icrecream! The pub itself is beautifully decorated and has a real ambiance and atmosphere! Would happily visit again and thoroughly recommend to others!

So, so happy me and my friend found this pub for lunch near Malpas for the day. Probably the nicest pub I've ever been to. Beautiful inside with amazing decor and a very relaxed vibe, lovely seating area outside which was perfect on a hot day. The food was outstanding. Highly recommend the fish and chips, just delicious, especially with their home made tartar sauce. It was cooked to perfection. My friend got the fried buttermilk chicken which also looked incredible and was a huge portion. The prices were also very reasonable for the quality and size of the portions. The service was fantastic and even the toilets were extremely nice to use, very clean and modern. I cannot fault The Lion at Malpas and am eager to return again soon. An absolute pleasure to have lunch here

I stayed and ate at The Lion as I was working nearby. I was greeted when I arrived and the lady was friendly and helpful. It was the nicest room very clean and modern. There was the normal tea, coffee etc but there was also extras fruit teas, hot chocolate, biscuits and crisps. That was a great touch for the evening snack attack. The bed was comfy too. I liked the finishing touches of the cushions. Bottled water was also available in nice bottle. I will definitely be recommending to my family and friends. I will definitely be back

We didn't stay in the hotel but we stopped by for a evening meal in September '23 The food was very good indeed. We had a nice meal and the taste was amazing, well above the average pub restaurant food but the staff really made the difference, Everyone was so friendly and helpful and couldn't have been better. Also in the bar area you can bring your well behaved πŸΆπŸ•πŸΎ Lovely place to eat.

Reviewed of the restaurant. Fabulous food and service, lovely atmosphere in contemporary surroundings. We regret we didn't find it earlier as we will most definitely return. I can highly recommend the BBQ and chilli chicken thigh and the carrot, ginger & Ginger soup for starters. Asian fish skewers and the pork belly for mains.

This place is fantastic, comfy rooms, great service and staff. Evening meal was really nice, scotch egg was excellent. Breakfast was also really good and we were a big group.

Booked for Sunday lunch here after a day trip out around the area. Lovely place, nicely decorated, nice relaxed atmosphere with lovely friendly staff and a fab Sunday roast. Couldn't fault any of it. Definitely recommend.

Lovely pub, great food. We popped into Malpas whilst camping nearby, and The Lion was a perfect spot to enjoy a meal and a couple of drinks. We sat outside because the weather was warm, but we noticed that inside was well decorated, looked very comfortable and appeared dog friendly. Staff were friendly and confirmed we could just pick a table and order at the bar for dining outside. It was a Sunday and the Sunday menu is reduced to make space for roasts - but the day was a little warm for us to enjoy a roast. Instead we chose a garlic flatbread to share as a starter, followed by fish and chips and the steak and mushroom pie. All were served fresh and hot, and were to a good standard - the small fish is still very generous and there was plenty of good quality steak in the pie. Tried The Lion's own lager and it was decent, though perhaps not a favourite, but definitely happy to find a pub that serves Pepsi on draught. We're tempted to try one of the rooms to call in again.

Nice place, good food, bit expensive - but everywhere is today. A band playing - we're very good. Place was a bit too noisy for me tho'. Visited on a Friday evening, was busy.

I quite like this pub, the staff are friendly, and usually the atmospher is good. However, after my sister in law was bitten in the face by an alsation belonging to a customer here, and the manager refused to take effective action ( i.e. asking them to remove the dog in what is a supposedly child friendly pub) and the subsequent inaction and inability to chase this up, my opinion has changed. The management are incompetent. Enter at your own risk. In response to the reply below. I was there at the time, we had to approach the manager and insist that the animal was removed long after my sister in law had a plaster applied to her still bleeding injury. The police told us that the details left by the customer were "lost".

Fabulous hotel, stylish and comfortable. It would have been 5 star except for a cleanliness issue in the bathroom.

Had a meal and drinks at the bar and noticed that the staff couldn't find my table to pay bill and also the manager having ago at a staff member for her boyfriend standing at the bar in front of costumers was wrong as I would have pulled her aside later as they were spending well. I have ran bars and restaurants in the past and would take the time to refill my salt before going on about people at the bar. Food was good though.
