Nice little pub, drawn in by the “free pool” sign in the window, who can pass up on that? Pool table is SPOTLESS, it’s either brand new or very well looked after. Cloth is perfect, even the cues and chalk are flawless, very rare for a pub. Also have two dart boards with the correct oche spacing, they clearly take their pub games seriously, I wish more would! Good Guinness, props to the barmaid because she even poured a two part pour. Good selection of gins the other half said.

Never been made to feel more welcome in a local pub. Everyone was friendly. We arrived wanting to watch the F1 on Sky sports and was swiftly accommodated. The toilets were clean and products were left available for use by patrons, which was a really kind touch. The pub is 100% dog friendly and our pooch was greeted with snacks and a toy and told he had free reign as the beer garden and pub were secure. If you are in Malton and want to pop into a regular pub with excellent service, I recommend the Royal Oak wholeheartedly.

Popped in on Saturday with a large group of my friends What a welcome! It was almost like walking into your own local. A friendly welcome fro the landlord and also the local regulars. Fantastic pub and excellent beer garden too. We will most certainly be planning another visit. Thank you for your warm hospitality, we look forward to seeing you all again soon ! Had a last minute night out in Malton with a friend. Found the Royal Oak through Google and both staff and regulars were very friendly, good range of beers and reasonable prices for the area. Pub is perfectly placed from shops and local takeaways with a very nice pizza house just across from it. Was recommended the Union by the pub landlord who owns both. One of the best nights out that I’ve had in a long while in the Union. Some very good local singers and I left having made friends there. Will definitely be returning. Thanks :)

Landlord and landlady welcomed us with open arms. Was our first time to Malton for our wedding Anniversary. Had a superb time and these guys made it & made cocktails! Great crowd of people, highly recommended.

Very welcoming traditional pub. Landlord John made us feel welcome from the moment we entered. Cannot comment on the food as the kitchen is temporarily closed due to the current financial crisis.

Lovely little pub, food was amazing, the atmosphere was very welcoming, landlady and landlord very welcoming, polite and kind. I would definitely recommend this pub for food or for a quiet little drink dog friendly, they have treats behind the bar which are free, will happily come back again

My boyfriend and I recently visited malton from Suffolk and the Royal Oak was the first pub we visited, the owners Jon and Laura couldn’t have been any more helpful suggesting places to go while we were visiting, a really welcoming couple! The Royal Oak has a lovely atmosphere, friendly staff, great selection of drinks! We didn’t go to any other pub, only returned to this one! Definitely will visit again! x p.s sausage in a roll!

Incredible staff, owners always attentive, new to food but the chef is putting out lovely valuable food, not 5* restaurant but the food is massively underpriced for the quality, and is quite clearly a family friendly dog friendly pub with real country vibes

We are finally so happy to find, The Royal Oak, a pub with the old fashioned values, of the Old days, with a pub that feels like, home, and all staff, that feel like, familly, that's suits all generations, as we have witnessed, with a Landlord and Land lady, who are, welcoming, warm and friendly, and extremely considerate to all, their , customers and staff, a wonderfull experience, we will be regular visitors.
