Hands down best breakfast joint in Manchester. Food is fantastic. Love the acovado & poached eggs and salmon. The bread is nice and crispy. Super healthy food and tasty. The staff are such lovely people. can adjust easily to any type of customer. Felt welcomed right away. Quick service. Good price. Highly recommend this place for brunch and breakfast (all day)

Arrived approx. 9:30 on a Sunday morning - already pretty much full. Waitress very helpful and friendly. She guessed a table for 4 wait would take at least 25 mins, but was able to move a table of 2 over to a different table so the other 2 on the large table were nearly finished. Then shortly after we were seated. Food was delicious. French toast was fantastic with fresh berries - but a little too much mascarpone cream for me. Just wish they served the cheddar corn fritters before 12pm - would loved to have tried these. All staff very friendly. Cute spot and nice atmosphere but small. Food very reasonably priced.

Absolutely the best breakfast in town! 😍 Eggs benedict with fried halloumi was so delicious. Nice atmosphere and a cute little place!

The food here is to die for! Such amazing quality breakfast/brunch/lunch choices. The shrooms and eggs with chorizo is a firm fave. Along with the french toast if you have a sweet tooth.

My boyfriend and I were looking for a late NYD brunch with most places being closed or stop serving breakfast at about 12. Came here in advice of a friend who is from Manchester. When we got there, the queue was massive and out the door and even all the outside tables were full. We got told it would be a 45 minute wait so put our names down and went to shops in the meantime. After some deliberation, we decided both on an iced latte and eggs benedict with bacon and avocado. The table next to us got the french toast and after seeing it we both wished we had ordered that instead. Nevertheless, it was still a good breakfast and would definitely go back next time we are in Manchester. Cute little cafe, small and quite cramped but doesn’t bother me as long as the food as good and added to the atmosphere.

Welcomed by a lovely young woman working there, who was super sweet, but the blonde women at the till didn’t ooze off friendly vibes, which didn’t feel very welcoming (I take customer service quite seriously). I would suggest someone else taking over the till if that’s her attitude all the time and was not a one off, bad mood day moment. At the end of the day, costumers aren’t only paying for the food, but we’re mostly there to pay for the experience. So imo, workers should be extra careful with their customer service. French toast was okay, not as expected. But wouldn’t go out of my way to have it again. But I do appreciate that it wasn’t sugar (my body doesn’t handle sugar too well). It’s good.

The food here is amazing and we've never left dissapointed. They do get very busy, especially during weekends, with queues running out the door which just shows how popular this place is. They change their specials quite regularly and we love it when our all time favourite of pulled beef with siracha and poached eggs appear on the menu. Everything is so fresh and tasty, and well priced. Great coffee too. We've probably tried everything on the menu and can't fault this place. No wonder they've gone and opened a second branch on Deansgate!

We went to the Christmas Markets yesterday & wanted somewhere to have a coffee close but away from the throngs. We chose this cafe bar. Reasonable prices, welcoming atmosphere, just a very pleasant place to stop & spend a while chilling before you venture back into the hectic streets. It was lovely. Say hi to 'Sean the Great' the Kiwi server.

What a wonderful cafe! We actually visited both sites during our time in Manchester, and both were lovely. Brunch was absolutely delicious - I had the Turkish Eggs (would definitely recommend!) and my partner had Eggs Benedict. The coffee is strong and the staff are friendly. We’ll definitely return next time we are in Manchester!

After an evening out and overnight stay in Manchester we wanted to have something more than the usual hotel buffet breakfast. So after reading the fantastic reviews on Trip Advisor we opted to visit Federal. Lovely fresh coffee, Mushroom/Halloumi/eggs and chorizo for me and a salmon, egg and avocado on sourdough bread were both real winners. Whilst both breakfasts were more than ample portion sizes we had to have a Portuguese tart and another coffee...and they were absolutely outstanding. Service with smile and the upmost attention made our visit even more spectacular. £35 overall and worth every penny. Well done to all the team and if you're in Manchester its must visit destination.

My wife and I live in Bolton but we often pop into Manchester on a Sunday and start the day with breakfast before spending time on the City. We visited the Deansgate branch but this doesn't seem to be listed - all I could find is the cafe bar in the Northern Quarter. Anyway, we loved the place immediately on entering - somehow we just knew it was going to be good - and we weren't disappointed. I had the 'Big Aussie' and my wife had a mushroom and goat's cheese omelette. Both dishes were excellent. Loved the atmosphere. We shared with anothe twp eo[ple and they were just as impressed with the venue amnd the food. Such friendly staff.

We were so looking forward to trying this spot after hearing rave reviews. After waiting for a table for 15 minutes or so we were shown to a table. We had ordered food and been served drinks when we were then uprooted and asked to move tables. We did so, as we didn't want to cause a fuss, and were moved to a cramped table right by the door. The door was open due to there being a constant queue so it was freezing! We then waited around 45 minutes-1hour for our brunch dishes which is a long time to wait for eggs and a sandwich in my opinion..there appeared to be a mixup in that nobody had linked our food order to our new table so we were asked after 45 minutes of wait what our order was. our food had seemingly been waiting on the side for a while - it was cold. I went for the Turkish eggs which unfortunately I was dissapointed by as they were not only cold but just a bowl of oil and cold eggs floating on top. My partners steak sandwich was cold and basic. Unfortunately style over substance, a long wait for cold and underwhelming food!

Really chilled out and laid back vibe, food and coffee was amazing and the prices are great. Felt like it should have been far more expensive than it was!! Would definitely return

I recently popped in for Saturday brunch with a pal and was blown away by the taste of the food and the friendliness of the staff. We had to wait half an hour for a table, which on a Saturday at peak brunch time is only to be expected, and it sure was worth the wait. As soon as I saw a menu, I had my heart set on the french toast which came served with berries, almonds, mascarpone and salted caramel sauce. Hands down the best french toast, if not brunch, I've ever eaten. My friend had mushrooms, egg and halloumi on toast which appeared to be equally delicious and we washed our breakfasts down with an iced mocha and matcha latte respectively. Normally when visiting a venue where you order at the till, you'd expect minimal interaction with staff but there were floor staff floating around being super attentive and chatty throughout the visit. My meal was barely finished before I was eyeing up other people's plates to see what I might order next time I visit. Hopefully it won't be long! Until then, I'll be dreaming of that sweet slab of berry-covered brioche...

As a group of kiwis visiting Manchester for the weekend we found the perfect brunch spot! Super friendly and refreshing service from all staff. Would recommend the Halloumi and mushrooms on sourdough bread and we finally found some decent coffee!! Shout out to Sean-o for his recommendations on the area. Kia Ora. P.S they have milo, Tim tams and shapes!

When it comes to fulfilling all of your necessary brunch needs, federal has your back. Whether you’re seeking a runny, golden yolk, a perfectly ripened and smashed avocado or a good old fashioned cup of coffee this cafe will have you queuing out the door. Literally. Sadly yes, there is a slight wait time to get seated but... what does that tell you? Overall this is a great hangout spot and sporting a carb filled menu that is sure to leave you day dreaming during work the next day.

My fiance and I visited yesterday and I must say it exceeded our expectations. When we arrived it was full but we were seated within 10 minutes as advised by the waitress. I had eggs (poached) anyway on sourdough toast with a side of the garlic and thyme mushrooms and my fiance had eggs benedict with bacon with a side of grilled halloumi. First of all the food came out really quickly and hot, the presentation was beautiful I never seen poached eggs look so appetising. I must say you HAVE to order the mushrooms when you go they we're to die for, I've never had a mushroom taster so good! My fiance tried one of them and he couldn't believe how nice they were either. I could've easily have a bowl of these. A must try when you go to Manchester safe to say I'll be returning SOON!

I’ve had two independent cafe trips within days of each other and very different experience. Shopping trip to Manchester and quick check on TA for independent cafe lunch break. Federal on the edge of the NQ ticked the box. Very warm welcome, short wait for available table as they manage to move customers on who have finished in a very professional unobtrusive manner. Eggs Benedict delicious at £7.50, French Toast £8 and a dish made up from the Sides section on the menu; Avocado, Bacon and Sourdough as friend doesn’t eat egg yolk £5.50. Photos say it all. Delicious. Will recommend and return. Thank you Feds.
