My partner and I had the Initials Menu last night and it did not disappoint. Every course was delicious, including the bread and butter! There were an assortment of tasty snacks before the meal and we split the ‘Golden Empire,’ so although we are both very hungry people we were both full and satisfied after the meal. All of the drinks complimented the food very well, we had the wine flight with out meal and a cocktail before. The venue was intimate and tasteful and the staff were all very professional. Would definitely recommend for a special occasion.
I have no words. Well I have actually...
Best meal this year.
Michelin guide needs to get their act together. From the bread, ham. Salmon. Scallops. Everything was top notch. Great place to go for a special occasion or celebration. Chef came for a chat too. All round a fantastic way to celebrate our anniversary! And, what has to be
#mcrsfinest dining room. Loved it!
First dining experience for quite some time. Located in the Midland Hotel, this restaurant provided a wonderful succession procession of tastes, flavours and textures.
Mid week and not so busy but the staff were attentive and helpful.
Done a few tasting menus over the years and this was one of the more expensive but was well worth it. No complaints. Highlights were the scallops with blood orange, and the rhubarb dessert.
Excellent!
Beautiful décor and very professional restaurant manager Karina. I got into an exchange of emails with her regarding the reservation and she was very keen to help by responding promptly and usefully.
The food is sophisticated while still allowing you to taste the ingredients; sometimes, with such complicated dishes, everything blurrs into a blob of taste. Adam is clever and I love the fact that his dishes remind us that we live in the glorious North West of England! This part of the world has an identity which we cherish and which he managed to infuse in his menu. I also like the fact that he came round and had a very friendly chat with all of his customers. The margins on the wine are a tad excessive. Apart from that, just brilliant!
We had the tasting menu with matching wine flight. The 'northern' menu is a bit naff but the food is excellent. The service is informal but friendly and pretty much faultless. And the room is, of course, stunning, providing the perfect ambience. Highly recommended.
What a great experience this was. The food was incredible from start to finish. The apple dessert was one of the best desserts I've ever eaten. Every dish was well thought out and by the end I was absolutely stuffed! It was all finished off with a thoughtful touch of a signed menu to celebrate my graduation. I'd definitely recommend.
The French is situated in the Midland Hotel Manchester.
What a lovely experience this was. The food was incredible from start to finish. Ten dishes came to us with a Northern theme running through most of them.
Definitely would recommend it for special occasions or if you have the money for it.
Didn't take any photographs as I was too busy enjoying myself. Visited in 2022.
Great meal. Signature course all of great quality.
Service was excellent and very welcoming.
It was my wife's birthday and they really made us feel special.
Thankyou all so much.
Will return.
We had the tasting menu, about 17 courses. We sat down at 7pm and departed at 11pm. The staff were all fantastic and very helpful. It was a belated 80th birthday present for my wife. It was paid for by her sister, family and friends in Switzerland. We weren't disappointed. Please pass on our thanks to all the staff for making it very special. Chris and Dorothy Massey.
An amazing experience, food and service were amazing, the food definitely was the highlight. EVERY dish we tried was just too good, flavor, idea, presentation, vessel, cooking point, garnishes, texture,... just wow! Highly recommended for the ones that look for really smart and executed food!
The only downer was the potential manager that was running the restaurant that night, was the only element that lacked finesse, maybe should be slightly more friendly. Removing and placing plates at the table, was just too careless, which clashed with the rest of the team. Never the less, the rest was so good, that it would always take a great score. One of the most surprising meals this year, for the consistency throughout the all night. Thank you
My partner and I went here with a friend and his wife to do the taster menu.
His wife is gluten intolerant and they catered for this with gluten free options.
This was a ten course meal with each and every dish is presented and served to the highest standard, the chiefs talk you through each one explaining how and what makes the dish as they serve it to you.
Obviously each dish is bite size but full of flavour.
We also paid for the wine pairing including the non alcoholic option. Both of these are quite expensive but they have chosen very nice wines to match each dish.
The non alcoholic one was very refreshing, a mix of fruit drinks.
I was impressed all round it was definitely a special treat.
I'd go as far to say if this restaurant was in London and not Manchester it would be michelin star rated.
