Business dinner
Came with two colleagues for dinner. We ordered the meat platter which came with starter and main. Starter was excellent with 8 of small tasting dishes consisting of humous, baba ganush etc. Plenty of meat for the main however not much to complement the meat with, no bread etc however still an enjoyable meal.
I love Arabian/Mediterranean/Russian food, so was very interested to try the Armenian Taverna. I booked a table online & honestly had no idea what this place would be like. We had a very warm welcome from the waiting staff, pleased to see families dining and very interested to see the food others were eating! My son ordered whitebait which was freshly cooked & delicious. Hubby & I had vegetarian Mezze - the selection was lovely - the dips were all perfect & little salads perfect. The bread was superb. The mains were lovely - we had selections from the grill. How wonderful to have food served without Chips! The serving amounts were just right. Everything was cooked beautifully & tasted wonderful. We will definitely visit again. Lovely atmosphere, great service. We ordered a bottle of wine from Georgia, which was utterly delightful. Finished dinner with 7 yr old Armenian brandy - Fabulous! What a great night out!
The best in the west !
This hidden gem in the city centre has the the best starter platters made fresh vegetables and meats daily.
Then the main courses are grilled meats fish and vegetarian too.
It really has everything what I like. To top up with delicious red wine called Zorah.
Just good food. Decor so out of date it can only be considered retro, that's right your in the Armenian Taverna! The food is along the lines of Turkish and is tasty and well cooked. It's never going to win any awards for culinary excellence, but it is good and homely and hits the mark. It deserves to be busier.
Excellent food, good atmosphere, friendly staff and comical décor...what more could you want!
Armenian Tavern, that's a big thumbs up from me. Here's to another 40 successful years in business!
Stumbled across this "hidden gem" Sat 21 Oct, as we hadn't reserved anywhere to eat. It was about 7.30, went downstairs to check availability for 4 people. The owner kindly found us a table, it looked very busy, nice atmosphere. We all had a delicious meal; starters of houmous/ bread & cheese/spinach parcels. Village Stew & Veg Moussaka, for mains. All really tasty home cooked food, meat was very tender. Staff were very friendly, attentive ( but not overly). We had wine & couple of desserts, very good value. Will definitely visit again ( & reserve a table next time!). Would highly recommend.
Amazing family run restaurant!
We ordered lamb chops and lamb skewers with chips. I would really recommend the skewers! The plates are big and food is very flavourful.
We also tried Armenian baklava which was super interesting (stuffed with walnut and cinnamon on top).
The staff were very nice, I would really recommend trying this restaurant. All food is halal as well, which is great!!
Lovely cellar restaurant, nice high quality decor with a comfortable timeless sort of feel. Food was outstanding, couldn't fault it. They were also great with us changing our reservation and when a few of our group didn't turn up. They had a solid vegetarian and vegan selection as well as a virtual festival of meat options.
I had beef rib, so tender I ate it with a spoon and I now cannot move there was so much meat on it. It smelled so good I didn't stop to take any pictures...
I was amazed how quiet this place was given it's clear quality and middle price bracket - strongly recommend this for work group lunches or for a nice meal with your partner.
Five stars, will definitely be going back.
Such an amazing restaurant! Been here a few times and would recommend it to anyone! Great staff and great food!
Beautifully prepared dishes that taste great. The service is also fantastic. This place is a hidden gem in Manchester. We had the hummus, tabbouleh, and panirov borek as starters. We then had the trchny and the nur havi
First experience of food from Armenia and Georgia and it was delicious. The staff were attentive and friendly and were able to recommend the dishes to us. Would absolutely go again.
Perfect. Delicious food and drinks, super friendly and hospitable staff, prompt service, plenty of vegetarian and vegan options, everything is correctly signposted on the menu regarding dietary requirements, and our seats were super comfortable. The place itself is also gorgeous. definitely get some appetisers and go for dessert. The smoked red pepper and aubergine dip was spectacular. We had a blast. Thank you so much!
Visited the Gallery and need some food and drink... never had Armenian food... and we were utterly surprised how good it was. The service was outstanding too.
You can dine outside and inside. Very delicious. Nice staff.
Absolutely a restaurant to go if you are into Middle Eastern or South Asian food. Everything is wonderful and the staff very friendly.
I would go back every day in the week.
