We stumbled across this place at the weekend - we were looking for somewhere to chill and have a coffee in the area. We read the idea of paying 8p per minute (which seemed so cheap) and didn't know quite what to expect. Its a fantastic concept - with helping yourself to drinks, cakes, biscuits and even cereal/toast. It was a great place to chill for an hour or so - well worth the money. Will definitely be returning!
The price appears to have gone up to 6p per minute but I still enjoyed my first visit to Ziferblat this afternoon. It's reminded me of going round to your grandma's house on a rainy Saturday afternoon to play board games and be offered refreshments every 10 minutes. This funny little place isn't nearly as filled with hipsters as I was expecting, just polite, well mannered people who treat the place with the utmost respect. My boyfriend and I indulged in a game of scrabble (I won), coffee and bowls of cereal and yoghurt for an hour and a half. I'd happily visit again although it won't be too regular an occurrence as the time can quite quickly slip by!
I had my worries before visiting Ziferblat, I wondered whether this was another gimmick which wasn’t going to get off the ground in Manchester. The idea is simple – 5p a minute gives you access to everything in their huge lounge – cakes, coffees, tea, games, wifi, guitars and much more. You check in when you arrive, check out when you leave – a micro tenant rather than consumer.
In truth, it’s really cool. Lots of cafés pride themselves on their ambience – people feeling like it’s they’re at home away from home. Ziferblat manages to achieve this and then some in an atmosphere that is almost childlike in its freedom to do whatever you like and just play about. This branch of the Russian ‘treehouse for adults’ perfectly fulfills what it should be – fun, relaxed, communal sitting room in the centre of the city.
I go here every Saturday for making a Difference drama group and it's an amazing experience everytime. Clean, always a great spread of food with vegan options. Friendly helpful staff. Beautiful interior. A smoking balcony overlooking the Northern Quarter with its fantastic vibrant atmosphere. Quite possibly the coolest place to visit and hold events in, in Manchester. One of my favourite places to go to.
A great place to have a social gathering or quiet study area. There is plenty of room with lots of charger sockets and even free WiFi. They have creative supplies, boardgames, a games console, books.. all surrounded by a quirky décor. There is also a balcony to sit at which I bet is lovely in summer!
There is also a range of food and drinks to help yourself to on the counter and kitchen. There is not much hot variety and some of the cakes taste stale but this can be overlooked with the cheap price.
Overall I would recommend and definitely check them out again.
This is such a great concept! I love everything about it. The people here are all so friendly and I could stay here forever.
One of the best places to go in Manchester, go every time were visiting, i couldn't believe it is deserted on a Sunday! The perfect place to relax, the silence helps
A brilliant idea, the perfect chilled place to kill some time or hang out with friends without feeling like you need to keep buying things to justify taking up a table. Super comfortable, home from home.
Oppidian was a perfect place for a day of remote work. It's like being in a coffee shop but without the anxiety of "have I ordered enough?" or "are they bothered by my zoom meetings?". Vegan lunch was a great addition. I will be back next time I'm in Manchester :)
This is a great space for meetings, co-working or just hanging out. Pay per minute and help yourself. Love the place.
I work remote full time but we came to Oppidan to have a little coworking day and omg what an amazing place!! Ive never been somewhere like this before, it was so cheap for how good the facilties are, got a bit addicted to the free soup... really great spot, definitely recommend!!
I've used this place a few times now. Really like it here. Very laid back. Clean and good sofa's. It's a good place to chill. Play games. Work on your laptop. Good lighting. Feels like home. (Which is its aim!)
6p per min. Means if you spend a hour or 2 and its is only a few £'s for all you can eat tea n coffee and basic snacks. Not bad hey!
Don't stay to long otherwise you can run up a big cost!
I love this place. The atmosphere is lovely and everyone is so friendly. It's especially great if you're going there for longer than four hours as the price is capped at four hours but you can stay all day. The board games are a nice touch and there is a good selection of food and drinks to eat included in your price for being there. I've never seen a dog there but I believe it is dog friendly as they have dog biscuits out. Also student discount is great at 25%.
