The best got even better when they made it into a bar recently and incorporated DJ sessions into the mix. Very clued up and friendly staff. And of course Michael Mayer playing the Micron pre-party there on Nov 4 will be a bit special

Best breakfast around

Stopped by whilst waiting for a nearby meeting and after a 4 hour drive to Manchester I was hungry and on the lookout for a breakfast. I found this place and decided to give it a go and I wasn’t disappointed. A very well cooked well presented stacked breakfast that was divine!

I shall be using this place again when in the city.

I remember Eastern bloc from my late teens. Always felt ridiculous in there, as if I wasn’t cool enough to be in the place. The records were intimidatingly obscure, making me feel like a thick-headed Philistine. Anyways; back to the present.... On a gloriously sunny day I took J there for brekkie. I opted for the wrap. Vegan breakfast wrap I think. She had the breakfast. After seeing all the recent reviews I am sorry to have not chosen the apparently fabulous coffee. We had alcoholics beverages. Naughty but nice. Recommend for all. Great portions and a decent choice. Not outstanding, but I thought it was fine.

Lovely little cafe which offers an assortment of cakes and teas. However the real treasure is upstairs in the record shop that stocks a plethora of electro, dance, soul and reggae music. The staff are incredibly helpful and won't hesitate to hand you records they think you might enjoy to listen to on their top of the range record players. Every music lover must visit.

To my amaze I found out that on some Thursdays and Fridays they have in store DJ's playing a range of music. I went to an acid house based event and it was mint!

Had a coffee and sat outside on the benches which are ideal, if the sun is shining! Chunky electro playing when I made my order!

One of the best places I've ever been, the food is amazing, the staff is great. If you're looking for records they have great suggestions and if you stay after 9pm on a weekend they have events on with live DJ. 10/10 definitely check it out.

Eastern Bloc don't just do food, they do tasty food! Staff were good. It just after midday on a sunny, warm Thursday and therefore a bit busy. Can't remember how long it too but it wasn't more than 15 minutes (I think) and they brought the fries that we added last minute along with our order without an issue. I had the Avocado with peaches eggs and extra bacon; delicious! There was also a salad which could have done with a bit more dressing but for that worked perfectly with some of the avocado.

Friendly service and good ambience. The food is excellent. Good selection of vegan and vegetarian options, homemade cakes and muffins. Not a typical family cafe but we were made very welcome here with our toddler and baby.

One of my favourite coffee shops in Northern Quarter, and Manchester. Good music, quality coffee, handmade organic, vegetarian and gluten free menu. For me best granola bar I ever had, and friendly staff. Also, if you're into vinyls and electronic music there are four decks you can use to listen the available vinyls!

Visited for the vinyl selection, so can’t comment on the bar/cafe. Nice selection of electronic vinyl covering all genres. Friendly staff and offered some great advice on new music. Bought two vinyl records after listening to them on provided decks. Would visit again.

Mocha and turmeric latte were both absolutely cracking. One of the best we've had. Plenty of seating outside. Excellent to chill on a non rainy day

I've got to adamit, I love the place! The picture that I have added is of a guest pass from around 30 years ago. It is a great record shop for techno and contemporary club music. They have tasty cakes and sandwiches in the cafe during the day. Evenings have great techno nights that often feature live artists. I've been there tonight and its been an absolute banger! The people that hang out there are friendly, too. It has a really good vibe.

Great vibe and cosy bar/cafe with a great atmosphere, but when busy with dancers, the heat is overwhelming.

Cosy little record shop (est. 1985) - now with an equally cosy cafe/bar. Food is tasty and reasonably priced, craft beer selection of cans/bottles is small but good quality (Cloudwater, ShinDigger, Brewdog), and the staff are lovely. Some cracking tunes on offer upstairs, and there's a decent amount of outside seating.

I was in Manchester for just few days for an event at the WHP, a friend of mine recommended this place and he was absolutely right. We only got here for a quick coffee, but the atmosphere and the music was superb. Great music choice and awesome vinyl store for electronic music. Hopefully I'll be able to be back soon.
