Lovely Awesome HQ burger and mac n cheese balls - the cocktails were a little sweet for me but still enjoyed. Visited as a large group of about 16 so a couple of drinks took a while to come but totally understand given the amount of us! Servers were very friendly and wait time for food was good - would definitely go again.

Loved it! Visited the Northern Quarter branch a year or so ago and it was okay, the GN branch last night though was great. Burgers were hot and fresh, beer was cold, fries were loaded and our server couldn’t have been friendlier. Overall a great meal and I’ll definitely be back when in Manchester

Relaxed atmosphere, good music and not ridiculously loud. I had the butter blood and blue burger with fries and it was beautiful, I would have married it if I could have or had a 2nd one at the least. Husband had a blame it on the whiskey and also enjoyed his. Worth every penny. Staff where friendly and very helpful especially when they pointed out there where multiple locations when I mentioned we were visiting!

Our first visit, the venue was lovely and stylish, the food was very well priced.
The food. I will not say it was bad because it wasnt, however there were too many flavours all at once for me to handle, causing a migraine. My partner who is a massive burger man, also thought the flavourings were too strong.
My only issues were being charged £2.50 for a can of coke and the 10% service charge.

Can't complain about the size and atmosphere here, definitely a place to visit if you're into loud and busy places. The toilets are a mess but the staff are nice. The burgers are smaller than expected, especially when they look so big in the photos. Price can be less for what you get.

Almost Famous is a Manchester institution for dirty burgers and fries. It’s the home of baconaise and bacon rain, amongst other incredibly delicious treats. The service is always prompt and a nice atmosphere.
Would highly recommend Mac “n” Cheese balls, Bacon-Bacon Fries and River Phoenix Burger (all my go-to favourites). If you’re in Manchester visiting, this place is a must!

Burgers were fine, nothing special. Smaller portions than expected. Staff were not very polite. Ambient was okay, big gorilla decoration was cool.

I took my family from out of the country here on 9/12/23 and they loved it! Almost famous really never disappoints. The food is amazing! The music is quite loud so I’d probably leave my mum at home but we always have a good time! Our server Imogen was super friendly as well and just completed the experience for us! Thanks for a good night Imogen!

For my Birthday I did the Bottomless Brunch, was excellent value for money. For starters you get either Chicken wings or Mac & Cheese balls then for main you get a Burger & fries (see pic) they had a choice for veggies too which was great👍🏼 You definitely get more food at this Bottomless Brunch than most places! Our waitress was great and very attentive to our table and really good with our drinks order (considering the amount of drinks we got between us...we like to get our moneys worth😄) I would defo go back again and recommend it to others to try 😋

I chose the awesome HQ, as it had a bit of everything slaw, chicken and beef.
The burger was juicy and the chicken was tender, it had a nice crunch from the slaw too.
The chips were disappointing though, it tasted stale and not fresh at all.
The food service was very slow during lunch time.

Never dissatisfied when I come here. Always leave full and content.
Staff are friendly and helpful. Can complain about their service.
Food is excellent. I’ve been many times and never had a bad meal. What burger meat they use I don’t know but it’s spectacular.
Decent choice of burgers and fries and sides
It’s a must visit if you’re near / in the area.

Excellent service, very attentive.
The food and drinks were delicious.
There were 8 of us, so quite a large group, there was a bit of a delay on the food coming out, but nothing too extreme. And it was all delicious and presented well.
Quite a quirky place, which I'm guessing gets quite busy in an evening.

Absolutely fabulous burger for me and partner had the chicken strips with teryaki sauce, we shared a side of pizza fries. We both loved the food and the service was swift and friendly. The portion size on the fries was perfect for sharing. Our server Courtney was great.

Can't think of how many times I have been here now and every time it has been faultless! Absolutely phenomenal burgers and fries! The quality of service is top quality, the staff are so attentive and friendly you can tell they make sure you have a great time!
Cocktails look fantastic and a brilliant choice of beers and cider!
Kids menu looks good too.

Great food, enjoyed their plant based burger. Ideal location in the Great Northern pre show at the Opera House. Lovely, friendly staff, made welcome. Great service, will be back.

I have always liked it here but when I took my mum who is allergic to cheese, I was really impressed. The staff ensured her burger was not grilled on the same grill as the cheesed burgers, and even ensured the chips were not fried in the same fryer as the mac balls. The manager even came over to assure us of what would be done. And all of this was done voluntarly by the staff - all we did was request a burger without cheese due to my mum's allergy and they did the rest!
Seriously awesome service. Thanks guys.

Was told we had a 45 minute to be seated, no problem as a wait must mean it’s pretty good. Finally got seated, and ready to eat. We ordered food but i soon noticed we had 5 tables free around us considering we had a 45 minute wait seemed odd and obviously they have flaws in booking procedures. Anyway ordered food then... waited and waited and waited, waited abit longer then asked the waited how long food would be, to be told food would be 15minutes. After a 45 minute wait to be seated then a 50minute for burger and chips, was safe to say we was thouroughly dissapointed. To top it off when we tried to pay the waiter, took ten minutes to find the payment machine, to which we just got up and went to pay at the bar after her incompetence. If you enjoy waiting for food.... I can’t recomend highly enough

Had to try this place because of reviews and recommendations from friends, disappointing really, Staff friendly enough, burger was a let down would not say the best in Manchester by a long way.
I asked for hot Chilli sauce on mine which was none existent in fact the sauce which was on the burger was cold and not spicy at all, Curly Fries were covered in a sauce which made them very soggy, sauce would have been better on the side.

Unreal borgz, staff were great, and music was spot on. Travelled from newcastle and was worth the trip.

We had our Christmas works meal at Almost Famous last night and we thoroughly enjoyed the meal. The staff were very attentive and the burgers were all amazing.

Lovely place, friendly staff, brilliant food. Went with the grandchildren and they enjoyed the food especially the milkshakes. The atmosphere was buzzing.

Very, very average. Incredibly disappointed with the portions today. No one checked to see if our food was ok (it wasn’t), never asked if we wanted another drink and had a snide table too. Not been here in a while and last time I was there the burgers blew me away, this trip left me £40 down and still hungry

Disappointing. Spoke to hostess and asked how long it would take to be served (pre theatre time constraints) was told from order approx 15 minutes. Order taken promptly. 15 mins later we chased the order. We added that if it was more than five minutes we would have to cancel. The waiter came and apologised. Our order was behind a large group order. A manager came over too and apologised. We cancelled the order and left. I must say all staff were very pleasant and dealt with our disappointment very well. But it was very disappointing :(

Jéssica Carina Freitas
Well the food and the cocktails were amazing! The only thing that I did not like were the sizes of the burgers, because from Instagram actually looks bigger than real life hahahaah. And one of the fruits that was on my drink was in a bad conduction! Next time guys make sure the fruits that you put on your consumers cocktails are in a good conditions! Please

There was no table booking so we had half an hour wait for us when we arrived, thankfully there was a bar upstairs!

The good was quite good, we enjoyed multiple burgers, their chilli burger was great but could have been bigger! The food was priced fine but as it was a weekday all burgers were half price, a nice surprise!

Get the 2 for 1 cocktails before 7pm.

Overall I would go again and would recommend it.

Having eaten several of the capital’s finest burgers over the last few months (Honest Burger, Patty & Bun, The Ship etc.) I decided it was about time I made the effort to visit one of Manchester’s highest rated burger joints in Almost Famous. Manchester already houses a variety of specialised burger establishments (Solita, Filthy Cow, Gourmet Burger Kitchen, Handmade Burger Co., Five Guys, Byron Burger to name but a few), as well as non-burger places such as Splendid Kitchen and Reds True BBQ that also offer several enticing burger concoctions. However, despite this ‘burger-saturation’, AF (apparently that’s what the kids are calling it) must be doing something right, as of a weekend the queues can be seen spilling out of the door onto the Great Northern Square.
It's Grim Up North
Let me now set your expectations: You're not going to like everything I have to say.
Hungerjams
AF is all about a cracking dirty burger with over the top sauces, grease and fat (in the best way).

I decided to order the Butter Blood n Bleu Burger, something I have never tried before and it was absolutely divine. I love a good steak and I was convinced my burger had at least half a cow in it! I was in burger heaven and I definitely wasn’t complaining.
Nomface
Our first ever blog post was on the original Northern Quarter Almost Famous . Infact it even provided the inspiration for the blog title as I watched Mrs Nom destroying her Triple Nom burger. Since the original site burnt down the franchise has expanded into Liverpool and are back with a much larger site in the Great Northern by All Star Lanes and Lucha Libre. With queues the norm at the old smaller site, we didn't have to wait at the new larger restaurant. However first impressions were that the cult vibe had been somewhat diluted with the glitzy neon lights, large posters and just general modern chicness completely the opposite of its more humble beginnings. However we would let the food make up our minds. After an lengthy wait of around half an hour our food arrived. We opted for burgers we had never seen before, the butter blood and bleu burger - a double Cheeseburger, rare flatiron steak, chorizo, chillies, peppercorn sauce, mustard mayo and bleu cheese sauce and a Baddaboom - a

But with the new branch opening I got all caught up in the excitement and dragged along my friend with the promise we were being all ironic

We were not disappointed by the second coming of Almost Famous. The food was great, staff friendly and the new shiny dining room looks superb. Northern Quarter, watch out - Great Northern is coming for your diners.
Where To Feed
Almost Famous and its sibling, Luck Lust Liquor and Burn, are all about bold flavours. Nothing bland or insipid is allowed to leave their kitchen, and the food makes Almost Famous a worthy destination for burger fans.
Bacon Onthebeech
After a couple of nights of drinking I always feel hungry the day after and I'm not after a salad. This time I had a massive hole in the middle of my stomach and it could only be filled with a big f*ck off sloppy burger. But I just knew that any other burger wouldn't do. I had a craving for an Almost Famous. I said in my earlier review that I think these are the best in town.
The Manchester market is totally sewn up now with AF and Solita like the Beatles and the Stones each having their own fans, it's game over as far as I'm concerned, and any new comer has totally missed the burger boat. American chain Five Guys (they have restaurants in London too) have sensibly located their new store in The Trafford Centre, (or as I call it hell on earth), a shrewd move on their part.
Hungry Hoss
I loved the space; it was big and buzzy without being too brash and bold. There were no doorman or attitudy staff – and, although we were quoted an hour’s wait for a table (which was ready much sooner), there was ample space in the bar area to pass the time and enjoy the vibe. The other big plus for me… the serve Ting!
