The layout and set up is absolutely spot on.
Simple but great menu. There were two of us and I would say that 5 to 6 tapas style pieces is enough. That includes selecting from the starters.
Definable would have the crispy mushrooms again.

The venue is amazing, the perfect place for a date, after work drinks, pre theatre food. The service is slow, although staff are very friendly and apologetic. No organisation to table numbers, so ordering food at the bar is chaotic. I had the steak and ale pie which was really rich and tasty, reasonable price too. If wanting to eat in the restaurant book in advance. This place is a firm favourite in my family, despite steep prices and testing service speed.
This place has never disappointed me or any of my guests. Every time I am in Manchester I have to visit The Refuge for a drink or some food. The service is phenomenal and the food is on point. I would definitely recommend this place. Absolutely love the atmosphere, this place is truly a gem in Manchester. 5/5 stars for amazing service, 5/5 for drink menu, and 5/5 stars for delicious food.
Stopped in for dessert and a night cap. The espresso martini was delicious! The barbecued banana was so unique and tasty, I was very impressed! Very happy we decided to stop and check this place out. The garden we were sat in also really set the mood. Beautiful!
Location is fancy and right in the centre of Manchester. The Sunday roast was disappointed though. Meat lacked in flavour and was cold, the potatoes tasted old. The Yorkshire pudding and the gravy though were spot on.
I recommend getting the sticky toffee pudding as it is delicious 🤤
A big round of applause to The Refuge restaurant! Love the time there, was here for lunch a week ago. I am serving justice to leave a great review for the great hospitality and everything else there. The place is gorgeous, the food is fabulous, we ordered quite a lot of mains, side dishes and desserts, that's how much we love it there. The Refuge is absolutely fantastic for special occasions, saw couple tables of customers celebrating birthdays, April birthday Stars, I am sure everyone at the restaurant enjoy the splendid experience there.
We absolutely love them sharing roast. This was our second visit here for food although we have been many times for drinks. The food is absolutely amazing. Cooked p perfectly, good portion sizes, tasty food, and withYorkshires the size of my head, what's not to like 😋 the bar service is the only thing that let's it down for me anytime we visit no matter how quiet or busy it is bar service in my opinion always takes so long but the drinks are amazing and worth the wait
Obviously this is an awesome venue, but we haven’t recently been to the restaurant in years. We came twice this week for breakfast (Kimpton Hotel) and I have to say it can’t be faulted. Very attentive service, great coffee and lots of clearly marked vegan options. Best vegan breakfast in Manchester perhaps?
Such a lovely venue and dog friendly, my shih tzu was allowed inside the restaurant area and the staff were lovely. Great food and drinks too, definitely will go back again! Great decor too!
Had Sunday dinner here with my boy, staff were amazing the food was delish.
I had the roast beef and enormous Yorkshire’s and of course had to have a jug of extra gravy , I know … but I like what I like 🤣
Followed up by couple of cocktails in the Winter Gardens which was relaxing and peaceful

Visited this place again for a last minute later Sunday dinner all the staff were amazing
Zara my waitress was fantastic and got my delicious food to me quickly the beef was delicious
Again can’t recommend enough I tried to put a separate review on here but it doesn’t let you but highly recommended… again 🤩🤩
