I get lunch from Viet Shack regularly as it’s fresh and tasty. The lady that takes the orders is warm and welcoming. Recommended
What we love:
Tasty food that is reasonably priced in comparison to places around in Arndale
Food recommendations:
BBQ meats with rice. Both the quack and shack fries are very nice
What could be improved:
Prawn portions on meals that come with it
When I order less popular dishes, they didn’t come with everything that was advertised. For example, the prawn and chicken slaw was missing mango, and fresh herbs (coriander & mint) which left me disappointed

This was one of the best meals I've ever had. The whole experience from start to finish was a delight. The place was packed but we didn't have to wait too long and we were shown to our table which was in front of the kitchen. You could see the chefs beavering away, creating the food. Our waitress was fabulous. Very friendly and service was prompt. I chose the Quack Burger from the extensive menu and my lad had Fo Chay with broccoli and spring roll side dishes. I didn't want the meal to end. The flavours and tastes were stunning. Decent portions too.

The staff here are very friendly and amazing cooks.
I had the surf and turf noodles and enjoyed every bite. There were a lot of different flavours that I could taste separately. I don't remember the last time I ate something so delicious. 100% recommend.

Wow! What an amazing little place this is in the Armadale. The food is next level and cooked fresh in front of you. Prices at ace for about £5 to £7.50 for a really good portion of food. I went for the Pork Crack and Noodles, this was delicious and I chose to have it spicy. This seems to be the most popular in the food market and I know why. Well worth a visit!!!

They don't take bookings but you can turn up and jot your name down to come back later. Recommend going to the general store round the corner to grab a drink for down by the canal while you wait.
when you come back for your table you're in for a treat, it's some of the best Vietnamese food on this island. great portion sizes, good price and friendly staff.
£60 between two will get you drinks and enough delicious food that you'll be asking for a box to take the leftovers home in.
A must go if you're in the area.

Bahn mi was lovely and so were the fries. Never normally try here because it's the only place in the market that doesn't take card payment. It's 2023 who uses cash anymore. Until you get a card machine I'll just carry on going to the competition.

My son and family took me here for a birthday meal and I absolutely loved it. How I should eat all the time . I had the Buddha bowl with several side dishes which were a meal in themselves. Staff conscience and kind , food arrived quickly - I'll be visiting very often.

This place is incredible! Tiny spot in the food market that produces the most fantastic, delicious, food. Great team of people too. Go now!

Quack fries is the best. Regular portion for £6.50 is already looking huge.

Waiting time depends how busy they are. Changed my life. Amazing. Peanut butter chicken and chips. I thought I knew chicken and chips. I was wrong.

I have been to Viet Shack in the Arndale Market many a times, I have tried many different things on their menu and they are all delicious especially the Viet Mack as I'm a massive burger fan.
The prices are reasonable and there is seating nearby usually available in the market, the service is really quick and they use wonderful seasonings on their fries making them some of the best fries I've tried.
The only reason I give them 4 stars instead of 5 is because of after the lunch time rush they usually run out of certain items which can be slightly annoying but other than that it's a perfect place to eat.

Delicious, cheap and filling food. Saw the queue so I knew it was good. Some stuff sold out by 12.30 already but ordered lemongrass burger and beef bahn mi. Totally worth it for 2 of us and both was really tasty

SO GOOD. Vegan AND meaty foods, fresh veg and salads, superb flavours and even better pricing! Their duck and dirty fries are the bomb! Always a queue and served with a smile.

I started coming to Viet Shack a few months ago. It was amazing. The best reasonably priced eatery in town. I wasn't surprised the queues started going round the block and putting the rest of the takeouts in the Arndale to shame. And then that curious thing that happens to overnight success stories happened to the Shack. They got complacent. In the past two weeks, I've eaten there three times. Each time, the quality was somehow just not as good. And then today, we hit the nadir. I ordered a pork and rice. Ugh. I could have cried. I was so excited for my lunch - I wanted that soft pork, that crunchy slither of cucumber, that beautiful dressing on the salad and that sticky rice. What I got was a smaller portion than usual of pork that was as dry as the sole of my shoe and a salad (cucumber missing) doused in so much mayonnaise that it slid around the bottom of the carton. It's hard to make a wet leaf slide, too. But they did it. The rice wasn't so much sticky as actually wet. And, when the meal was done, there was a colourless translucent puddle in the bottom of the carton that looked up at me as if to say, "Hard cheese, pal." Viet Shack had pretty much overtaken Kabana for me as the best lunch spot in town but, whereas Kabana has NEVER given me anything but great food, Viet Shack is gonna have to do a heck of a lot to convince me that they're more than just a flash in the pan. Starting with canning the guy who was on the grill today.

Service was awful ...not worth the price £7 ...small portion with less meat and very bland ...Food cold ...

Usually love it. And it is the best in town on its day. However today's chicken burger has knocked me right off. I could smell a fishy smell, through the bag I assumed it was something else. I got back to my desk had a couple of bites, and then realised it was the chicken. Hope I noticed and I don't get ill tonight! The smell is still with me . Will not be back in a hurry, which is shame as I'm there everyday usually, but this has put me off! Had to wash my hands a few times before it left!

This is my favourite place to eat in town. I've been here easily over 20 times and always had a good tasty meal and fast service :)
