Kro - Old Abbey Inn

We've lived five minutes away from this place for seven years (and been at uni around the corner for three years before that) but have somehow never heard of this place. The only reason we came across it is through a Facebook post about their e-bike sadly being stolen, which they were using for deliveries and community support work. As the owner of a socially conscious cargo bike-powered business myself, my interest was immediately piqued! Then I investigated further and found that this place does fantastic burgers and pizzas, with the best selection of beer you'll find for miles around. They had opened the beer garden following the easing of covid restrictions, but were also doing deliveries and pick-up. My wife and I ordered a cheeseburger, pollo e pepe pizza and portion of chips to share, as well as a two-pint jug of fresh draught IPA. The food and beer was excellent, but what really impressed me was the friendly vibe of this place, that somehow has been hiding in plain sight since we came to Manchester.
