Lovely cafe close to a great beach. A warm welcome and excellent service at this small cafe. We checked it out with a coffee and scone, then after a walk on the beach went back for soup and a bacon sandwich. All excellent.

Lovely little out of the way tea room with delicious scones and a decent cuppa coffee. Coffee cup could have been bigger or a grande option perhaps but that's just me as I like a big cuppa. Friendly staff and quirky loos.

Bring your dog. Build up an appetite. Please note closed Mondays. Simple and very wholesome . Far more sensible than this website which keeps on telling me I should say more when I have said enough

As cyclists we have visited this cafe since it was tiny, just two tables, and are delighted that it has expanded without spoiling the atmosphere (it's still not too big). It's one of our favourite coffee stops, with friendly service and excellent cakes!

As the rain poured down and half of Yorkshire disappeared underwater my wife and I and our two local friends sought solace in this delightful cafe by the coast. We treated ourselves to home made steak pie and peas, with mint sauce if required for the peas and a hug of gravy. An absolute treat it was too, melt in the mouth pastry, washed down with pots of tea. It would have been rude not to try an ice cream too, so I plumped for a double waffle with chocolate and toffee fudge. Worth also noting is the self composting loo, a laudable effort in these times of climate change awareness. A lovely experience, thank you.

Been here two days in a row and am sure we’ll be back again tomorrow! The food is simply beautiful-all freshly made. The service is fantastic and so friendly. So lovely to be able to take the dog (Archie) inside and he was treated just as well as us!! Husband said the crab sandwich was delicious and the cakes were simply beautiful. The home made scones are a must!!

Delicious home-made soup - plenty of choice but I tend to choose the oxtail with wholemeal bread and a pot of tea - my dog gets spoilt too with lots of cuddles and treats. Lovely that dogs are allowed in.

Called in on a quick trip to the coast. Glad to see the place open as it’s been a few years since I’ve last been. Great service, lovely little place, cozy, they made bacon and egg butties for us which weren’t even on the menu and only added 50p to the bill ! My partner had a bottomless pit of tea as it seemed to last forever lol. Wish my cappuccino had too as it was tasty. Value for money and good food makes this a great place to grab lunch if you’re in the area.

This was a wonderful experience for my husband and myself. I don't eat bread so was given a special wrap selection of "sarnies" which were delicious. The ice-cream dessert was wonderful and the selection of cakes were all delicious. We took home the cakes we were unable to finished enjoyed them at home. Thankyou to all the staff for a very enjoyable afternoon.

I have been here before many a time, with family and friends and all have appreciated the warm reception and fine refreshments to be found. We had visited the Jurassic coastline with the local beautiful beach and cliffs for fossil hunting - we found a Dinosaur (well fossilised plants really); but had fun never the less. The Old Post Office was a welcomed rest bite from the walk and adventures on the beach. My friends had a variety of cakes and cream teas, equally delighted with what they consumed; one recounted that the cream and jam was the best tasted so far on our vacation - and he's not easily pleased! I had a very tasty VEGAN Flapjack with a fine strong cup of black coffee, nice and hot. Highly recommended, there is a choice of seating outside the front on warm days, but tables are available inside or in their spacious conservatory at the back; also, there is nice sheltered patio for additional outside seating. Definitely will return!!!! on my next trip to the North Yorkshire Coast.

We visited with my mum for a quick cream tea after being on the beach nearby. We were most impressed with the friendly staff and food and the outdoor seating area complete with dog beds for customers with their furry friends!!!! We could have sat in the garden area all day . Well worth a visit!!! Many thanks Phil Clair and Jean

We always stop at the Old Post Office Tea Rooms following our walks on Mappleton Beach. The service is excellent, as is the food on offer. The sausage rolls are particularly tasty! It is dog friendly so that is very handy, especially on colder days when a warming cup of tea is required!

Popped in here for breakfast after reading good Reviews about it. It's friendly, welcomes dogs & has a nice garden you can sit in so a nice enough place to visit but ..... 'Full Breakfasts' are not served here so don't expect one. The breakfast rolls available are limited, bacon or sausage are your choices & even these are on the expensive side.

Haven't been for a while and we must remember to call in more regularly. We enjoyed lovely cakes with tea and coffee a few days ago and it was as good as ever. They also do more than just cakes now. They also sell packs of delicious cookies to take home. All of the food is made on the premises by people who really care about their produce and service. They now have a few more tables than when we last visited and it has become very popular. When they are busy you might have to wait a few minutes for your order but the atmosphere is very cosy and friendly and it is worth a little waiting time. And for what you get it is good value. Beautiful cakes, tea in a proper large pot, and spotlessly clean.

Excellent friendly service in a charming setting Fantastic selection of home made cakes plus a choice of food . You will find the only difficulty is deciding which yummy cake to have. I had toffee cake and my wife had lemon medeira cake both were fab. its well worth making the effort to visit this hidden gem you will not be disappointed.

The service is always good and the cakes are fantastic. We visit frequently and one time I had my birthday tea there. Plenty to eat and it was fantastic. The staff are very friendly and helpful. If you have a dog then this is the place to come to. There are plenty of treats available for all including your pooch. The atmosphere is wonderful, it retains a lot of the features from another time, but it tastefully blends with some more modern features to the rear, including a lovely conservatory and an outside area. If you haven’t visited the Old Post Office tearooms, then put in on your list to visit and have a wonderful experience. This is the best tearoom ever.

We were half way round a walk and came upon this place. I ordered a mug of tea and a piece of Lemon and Poppy Seed cake. Both were very good, and well served by the young man

My colleagues and I came for a much needed coffee and lunch here. What a lovely, friendly welcome, and incredible food including a hot beef roll, bacon sandwich and crab sandwich. Genuinely great traditional food, all local and fresh. A lovely range of gifts and edibles. Nice to find that the owner was also once a teacher in Leicester too! Great beach right on the doorstep for our work!
