Seafood Lovers Cafe

Seafood Lovers Cafe is your basic fish and chip shop. Location is good as it is located across the road from a beach. There is only one picnic table on the beach side close to the shop. However, there are a few tables and chairs located outside where you can enjoy your meal. Cod was cooked perfectly and tasted nice. Chips were very lightly seasoned but cooked well. Environment appears a little worn down; however, it was clean and tidy. Customer service was subpar. Staff seemed uninterested when taking orders. Price for our meal was $29.80 for two pieces of fish, small Chips and two drinks. I personally believe that this was a little too steep for the portion of food we received.

Just be aware. The prices of the fish displayed are frozen an imported.. the cashier told me the local prices so my $9 piece of fish ended up $12 but I didn't mind because the fish in the cabinet looked a good size. However when I opened the box the piece of "snapper" looked about it weighed maybe jist shy of 100 grams. I It was clearly not of the same fish in the display windows. It was so tiny. I did get the combo with chips and salad plus three pieces of calamari. I left $29 lighter in the wallet but full of cheap chips and salad. However I will say the calamari was lovely. The fish seemed a little smelly (I had it baked so you can definately notice) but all in all I would go back if the pricing wasn't so inconsistent and confusing... why have a board?

Zero customer service. I felt like we were bothering them by actually placing money in their hand. Not one smile, from them or us - read on! We ordered fish and chips with an extra serve of calamari and chicken nuggets for my daughter. The fish looked like the old lady in There's Something About Mary. Old, curly and brown. No taste at all, could only taste the fat in the batter. The food was so greasy it left a horrible sheen on my fingers. The chips! We didn't mention the chips. They came out bright yellow and no salt. We asked for chicken salt - they don't have it. And apparently no salt at all 👎 The calamari were a good size, cooked well - but zero flavour. Bland and old. The free tartare sauce were those generic squeeze packs, which are horrible and synthetic. The best things we experienced were the CHICKEN NUGGETS!! as my daughter loves processed frozen food, so she was happy. Never again. Frozen, imported and tasteless food is not for us!

Tried this place again as it has had a facelift but unfortunately the food hasn’t had the same attention. They still don’t offer chicken salt as an option leaving the chips bland. Price was reasonable, and seafood itself ok but with other providers with a better offer in the area I would recommend going elsewhere. Such a shame as it is a great location and close to home.
