Lovely place... set on two floors, Warm and welcoming, staff polite with smiles on there faces (say a lot about a restaurant) Upstairs.... there's an open kitchen, you can see the dishes being prepared & served. It's cosy and intimate, it's not a massive menue which I think is only a good thing. It's sensibly priced and the portions are adequate. I didn't give it 5 stars only because we did have to wait a while for our food (nothing too much, I don't want to put you off) also the sauce I had with my perfectly cooked stake, was a little on the thin side. Our first visit..... we will definitely return to this hidden gem.

Had a lovely evening at The Olive for our anniversary last night. We had the scallops and fishcake starters and Steak and duck for the mains. The dishes were presented beautifully and tasted amazing. The staff were very attentive and we didn't wait long for our courses. The only criticisms we had was that we could have done with one more scallop and fishcake for the starters and we would also ask not to sit near the food serving hatch next time as the lights were too bright and it wasn't very private.

This tapas bar is very nicely presented inside, feeling spacious and modern. The dishes were well-presented and the service friendly. The actual food was good but not great - some dishes did not taste balanced e.g. the tomato sauce with the arancini was very acidic and overwhelming to a subtle but tasty and crunchy arancino. The addition of pesto to several dishes contributed to the menu feeling more Italian than a traditional Spanish tapas. The chicken and chorizo skewer was probably the stand-out of the dishes we tried. I would probably give 3.5 stars if I had the option, with some tweaks the dishes could be excellent.
