Good Egg

Nice cozy place near south Melbourne market. My house smoked salmon was on point - except I asked for the sauce on the side and got the sauce on the eggs. Scrambled eggs weren’t cooked to a professional level, was a disappointment. Freshly squeezed OJ was good but the coffee grind should have been adjusted before serving a double espresso, which was forgotten to put through and had to ask for it again. Might want to come back to try other dishes.

I really enjoyed my lunch at Good Egg today. They have such a laid back vibe and they are so good with my kid. There is not a huge space for prams and all, but they have story books for kiddo. They have this mini bacon and egg burger for kiddies but I didn’t want him to have bacon and asked for avo instead and they kindly obliged. I had the Mex burger which consists of scrambled eggs, avocado, jalapeños and beans with schiracha sauce was delish! I wanted to try the scorched eggs and the wagyu beef burger next time!

The food was good but unfortunately the hygiene standards are not great. We found hair in the food....the waiter stood there while we showed him and attempted to pull it out of the food but it was clearly cooked into the cheesy cauliflower hashbrown, and we were unable to remove it. He did offer to make another hashbrown for us to make up for it.

This tiny cafe was bustling with activity so I decided to stop by for a quick bite. The Scotch Egg piqued my curiosity - Panko crumbed egg with pork and fennel, combined with wilted spinach and a special sauce. It was very edible but a little bland for my tastebuds that wake up to stronger flavours and spices. The yellow decor throughout creates a bright, happy vibe. Service was friendly but not speedy. The rating also reflects the extremely competitive gastronomic scene in the immediate surroundings.

Small but cosy & cute cafe with an intimate vibe. Staff are always smiling and helpful. Coffee and food are good, not much to fault. They have some of the more uncommon dishes that you don't get at a lot of other breakfast places such as boiled egg with toast soldiers and also the scotch egg. Definitely a place to check out.
