Review Half Moon And Spread Eagle - Micheldever

Jason Owen
We stopped at the Half Moon and Spread Eagle for a drink whilst out on a walk around Micheldever. The staff were friendly, the pub looked clean and very welcoming. The food we saw come out looked really nice. We managed to sit outside and the garden was large with plenty of seating available. We will have to go back again but for food next time.

Really friendly welcome. We made the most of this unseasonably warm weather and sat in the beer garden. Really enjoyed the menu choices, I had the pigeon.

Great to have this pub open again. New owners are creating a lovely warming atmosphere. Staff are so friendly and helpful and we had a delicious freshly made red pepper and tomato soup which was delicious.

Fantastic evening at steak night, so many people in and a great village atmosphere. What a traditional village pub should be. Food and drink form the new team really good.

Came for a last minute booked dinner here last night. Honestly, one of the best pub meals I've ever had the pleasure of eating. The pub itself is beautiful and with it being Xmas the decor made it extra special and was so cosy and welcoming. The staff were delightful which made it an even better experience. The food was a pleasure to eat. The tartare sauce and pea purée were something special and I enjoyed every mouthful. The treacle tart was the perfect end to a wonderful meal. I will very happily come back again in the future if I am near Winchester again. I just wish this pub was close to where I live in London!

Someone crashed into my car today on the main road near to this pub. Before I drove home my mum and I popped in here to get a lemonade as I was feeling a bit shaky after the collision. The landlady was lovely and welcomed us in even though it was meant to close earlier and even got us a very nice chocolate brownie! Such lovely people here and the pub was cozy, clean, lovely wallpaper in the bathrooms… I’d love to go back to see what the rest of the menu is like… thank you!!

My friends had driven passed the sign many times so wanted to try it. Expectations were high and am pleased to say it didn't disappoint. When you walk in, it feels spaceous and airy. The landlady was very friendly and super helpful. We all chose the roast beef sandwich and it was absolutely amazing. I didn't want chips and was offered broccoli instead. I can honestly say it was the nicest broccoli I have had in ages. We were allowed to bring the dog in too. In summary, all 3 of us loved it and were pleased we finally went there.

I went here as we were looking for a good spot to meet some friends half way between Portsmouth and London. This pub did not disappoint. Located in the beautiful village of Micheldever in Winchester. It has an amazing setting with a good size car park. I visited on a Thursday evening which was a great time to go. The staff were friendly and there was a great atmosphere. The food was amazing and there were plenty of Gluten Free options. I will definitely visit again.

First time visiting. Lovely place and tucked away in the countryside. Friendly staff especially our waitress (no name sorry). Food was good. Triple cooked chips were exactly that. Yummy. Looking forward to next visit

Really lovely Sunday lunch, not to mention the homemade Bakewell Tart and Choc Brownie for pud 😋 (just like to say I didn't eat them both but would have been happy to). Sat in the garden which is spacious. Loads of room for dogs, kids and us adults. There are dog bowls and water provided, so handy after a Sunday dog walk. Nice touch. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Nothing too much trouble. We will definitely be going back, very soon!

The best roast beef Sunday lunch I have had, exceptional service from a lovely team of staff and such good food and wine. All very reasonably priced and worth every penny! My compliments to the chef. 😊

Always a warm welcome. Nice ambience. As it's close by and convenient, we - a small group of long standing friends - return frequently - across all seasons

Excellent country pub, where you receive a warm welcome, wonderful home cooked food and great local ales. We visited while staying at Blackwood Forest and so glad we did. Highly recommended.

What a find ! A stop over on our way to the Dorset coast and worth every minute of the detour from the route. The welcome was warm and friendly, the ambience is comfortable and cosy and the food was excellent. Every member of staff went out of their way to make our short lunch stop a really enjoyable experience. If you’re in the area you MUST visit - but book first !!

Wonderful lunch in the garden, products amazing of high quality and fresh. Service friendly , professional and attentive. We have only phoned out of chance to see if a table for two would be available. Thank you for making our walking day to admire the blue bell memorable! Nice, warm and sunny during lunch .
