We visited Mima to find an Incredible miniature model of St Hilda’s district Middlesbrough. The level of detail and craftsmanship is extremely high. We were completely blown away and felt transported back in time. A must visit for anyone passionate about model making and the area. Perfect exhibition.

Visited over half term with 2 & 7 year old boys. The building was nice, the cafe was lovely which offered freshly made pack lunches for £1. The exhibition was small with interesting pieces which the boys enjoyed. The art trolley was on for kids to do art and crafts ran by Zoe who was friendly and gave the boys things to do, kept them busy👍

Art Gallery, cafe, shop, toilets in the centre of Middlesbrough, once owned by Middlesbrough council, now with Teeside University. Use to have a drop in on a Thursday afternoon for free food. MIMA (Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art) is free Closed Mondays.

Very pleasant museum friendly helpful staff from entering the building and showing me to the galleries I had a couple of spare hours in the town and never been to Mima and didn't know what to expect It's very clean and exhibits are well patrolled I think I came out knowing a little bit more then I did and hour earlier and Google was my friend as some of the collection archived was interesting and further research had to be done whilst inside to answer my questions Cafe gets a good write up and cakes looked amazing as I left the foyer Maybe next time

As a graphic designer / founder of a Teesside design studio, I absolutely LOVE it here....and it's right on my doorstep which is even more amazing! It's free to get in, has some amazing art, great cafe with delicious food and a gorgeous gift shop.

Absolutely loved the Lucy Rie exhibition - it was so thoughtful. The gallery staff were friendly from the person outside putting things in the bin to the shop staff and the gallery attendants. The cafe was great and the shop worth a visit. The car park was easy too.

So portion size is very very generous in both cakes and food. Taste is fab and the price is average, but when you compare the size of the food it’s actually very cheap. Great staff and the coffee has been upgraded so a great coffee now well worth a visit.
