Had a few drinks here. Not the first time so I know what the pubs like. There was a party going on with a DJ so made it more lively than it normally is. Staff polite. I enjoyed the atmosphere. Drink prices are good. Cheaper than most pubs.
Been visiting here for years. So much better since it refurbished and no longer a weatherspoons. Great atmosphere especially on Friday and Saturday nights.
Amazing staff in the White Lion.
Adam the manager is the best in this establishment for a very long while.
Sue & tracey, fantastic servers.
Cheery and happy to chat with locals. Nothings too much trouble.
All the staff make this pub the one to visit if your in Mitcham.
It needs a menu but the choice of drinks is great and the theme events will make you want to go in there, time and time again.
This place is extremely cheap for food and drinks! Not the most vibrant pub that I've set foot in but it absolutely does the job if you want to keep the bank account happy, whilst catching up with friends.
[1] In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. [2] And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. [3] And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
Used to be a Wetherspoons, now a free house with an impressive range of real ales. TV showing sport. Very friendly. Good prices. Bring your own food.

Originally called the Buck's Head, the pub was rebuilt around 1898/1900 and was operated by Hoare's Brewery until 1933 when they were taken over by Charringtons. It was renamed in 1990 to the White Lion of Mortimer when it was taken over by Wetherspoons, who had the pub until 2018.
I visited the pub on Sunday 26th July 2020. Of the three entrances two are now in use as a one-way system for covid.
The entrance is now on the side of the pub opposite the Mitcham Islamic Centre. There is a hand-cleaning dispenser on your right as you go in and a table in front of you with the sign-in sheet for NHS Test and Trace.
The corner entrance is not in use, and the exit is now the double doors at the south eastern part of the pub, which leads on to the streetside seating area. There is another outside seating area at the back, but that doesn't have access to the street. Seating space is limited, and used mainly by smokers.
You order at the bar where striped tape is placed to show which parts of the bar not to use. There are signs asking you to not stand at the bar after buying drinks. Cards are accepted for payment as well as cash.
The local history displays, a feature of Wetherspoons pubs, remain on the walls and there is an interesting mixture of local celebrities and old time photos. The carpet is also a Wetherspoon unique patterned one.
Drinks prices are very reasonable.
Photo is of the building in 2017 (when it was a Wetherspoons) which shows the entrance door.
Tracey has been fantastic. We have been trying to sort a venue for our mum's wake. Tracey and the bar staff who took the call were very helpful and got the tone 'just right' for us. Tracey provided photos of food she had recently prepared for a party and was prepared to hand make all the food, including everything having a vegan option. She sent a WhatsApp tour (I am based in the Midlands) and a proposed menu to me on the next day.
The pub was very accommodating about my brother's disability when he visited and we really can't fault the people. Eventually, we chose another venue as we needed a car park for elderly/disabled relatives who are attending but if you are thinking of approaching the pub for a small 'do, I would say go for it. Highly recommended by us and a definite for a drink when I am down that way again. Thanks Tracey :-)
For friendliness and the warm welcome received by bar lady (wish i got her name) - I dont live in the area so won't be back, but a warm welcome goes along way... especially on a cold and very wet Sunday afternoon!

Have visited the pub briefly now twice to drop equipment off for gigs on the weekend but must say, I love the vibe and energy of this establishment. This is a fairly biased review as I am friends with people who work there and I am a member of the same company that provides their entertainment on a Friday evening... but, spacious and bright - the mix of tables, chairs and sofas give the pub a really cosy and inviting vibe and the staff are always very friendly and accomodating towards the punters. Can't wait to be able to join Vinnie for a gig very soon to see the pub in full Friday/Saturday mode.
Nice friendly staff behind the bar. Good prices for drinks and great entertainment.
Still going strong, they have lost the kitchen (bloody cost of living etc!), but have retained all the good parts. Great locals and good staff.
Friendly locals local pub, would have liked to stay longer, but things to do etc etc. Thank you for the hospitality
Lovely pub, lovely staff, lovely clientele...went in by myself last night and had the best time for two hours...left my jacket and it was handed in and collected it today. Great place.
