Fantastic authentic Mexican dishes. The food is superb and the service relaxed and attentive. The selection of tequila to finish the meal was amazing. Definitely worth a visit.

We love to support independent restaurants so we delighted to hear an authentic Mexican restaurant had opened near us in Angus. El Tajín did not disappoint. Run by Mexican cook, Martha and her Scottish husband, Charles, they bring a bring a ray of Mexican sunshine to Montrose. We started with a round of Margaritas with smokey mescal, then enjoyed zesty guacamole, homemade tortillas and the best refried beans I have ever tasted. Mains were soft tacos stuffed a selection of filling including Inverbervie goose, goat from Inverkeilor and Arbroath Smokie, and a delicious pork dish with moreish Chipotle sauce, all accompanied with iconic triad of pico de gallo, green and red chilli sauces. After more innovative cocktails including a delectable chocolate martini made with Arbikie Gin, we demolished Martha’s epic pecan pie. Tex Mex this certainly is not! Fantastic to see that Martha is incorporating quality local produce in her menus too, with her unique Mexican twist. A fantastic informal hidden gem that you need to discover

An amazing taste experience!! Lovely intimate setting, with the most fantastic Mexican food you will ever taste!! Really friendly, welcoming staff, a hidden gem in Montrose, I cannot recommend it highly enough!! And you have to try their latest cocktail, the Green Iguana, delicious and very moreish!! You have to pay them a visit, you won't regret it! We will definitely be back ❤️❤️❤️

Checked google before going here, ended up down a little alley which opened up to a really nice looking under street garden with a green door. We shared two starters and then a main course to share. Food was absolutely delicious and a couple of tequila's to wash it down was perfect. Would definitely recommend.

Discovered El Tajin by accident as I was staying at the Chapel House B&B right next door. Staff were friendly and attentive and the food was superb. We ordered a mixed platter consisting of goose, steak, pork, refried beans, guacemalo, halloumi & cactus 🌵 Plenty of choice when it came to tequila and Mezcal too!

Proper authentic Mexican experience - even better to find unexpectedly in Montrose. Gr8 mezcal, delicious black beans, real corn flour in the tortillas & chips. Def recommend.

Delicious real Mexican food. None of the imposter tex mex rubbish usually flaunted as Mexican. Refried beans are light and airy the guacamole is vibrant and tasty unlike the gloop normally served. The tacos are exciting and varied. If you want to a real taste of Mexico there is nowhere better in Scotland.
