Review The Picture House - Montrose

Went for lunch yesterday with friends, good food, service was good, because we weren't getting good signal we couldn't order at table, not problem just went bar ordered what we wanted. My only criticism was the tartare sauce tasted strange, couldn't eat it. Great place for families. Kids portion was really big, we had fish and chips, scampi and chips, lasagna garlic bread, kids tomato pasta, portion cheesy garlic bread and onion rings plus kids meal they get pudding so chocolate icecream.

Absolutely the best place in Montrose to eat something delicious! Very nice service, short waiting time and very nice decor. recommend 5 small plates of snacks for £19 (Thursdays). Insanely good!

Well .. I am from Edinburgh and expect to pay good money for good service. While in Montrose Picture House I paid next to nothing for excellent service. I always use the ordering app so never have to wait at the bar. Whilst in the picture house I did not wait any longer than five minutes from ordering to the order arriviat my table .... Service excellent Staff very friendly... Kayleigh awesome.... Prices unbelievably cheap... The two young idiots sitting at the next table made fun of the staff and thought they were funny making spoof bad reviews... Rhodri Colledge and Mitchell Clark are a pair of spoilt brats who make a hobby out if giving bad reviews. Both of them cleaned their plates and emptied their glasses ... I have visited many Greene King establishments and I can assure you that the picture house is up there with the best of them... Well done Picture House

Went to Montrose on a Tuesday but seems most of it is closed on Tuesdays. By chance the wife saw some people going down a side street and that was where the picture house is. The staff were great and it's dog friendly the food was hot and reasonably priced and tasty. When we are up that way will eat there again.

This place is amazing. Couldn’t ask for better food or service your server ciara was absolutely outstanding. Nothing was to much for her she was so attentive and couldn’t help us enough. Food was the best we’ve had the mixed grill was to die for. Thank you picture house and thank you ciara we will be back for sure.

We received fantastic service today, despite it being busy. When ordering food for our table of 3 adults and 5 young children we were told it would be a 90 minute wait for food! We don’t know the area well, so decided to wait. After 10 minutes, the barman came to tell us that they had managed to “rejig” things in the kitchen and our food arrived within half an hour. The food was great and clean plates all round! We really appreciated the service we received today. The staff went over and above to meet the needs of the young customers at our table. They were polite, friendly and attentive throughout our visit.

Got meal deal and katsu curry and lasagne are definitely 2 best options there!!!

Since moving to Montrose we have made the Picture House our go to place. Had often been to watch the six nations previously, the atmosphere is great during live sport events. The staff are lovely, really fun and chatty. Always get a great laugh and feel welcome. The food can be a bit hit or miss, but when it's good it's good. Always welcoming of feedback if something isn't right. Looking forward to a good few drinks in here as our new local. Free pool on a Friday is a great bonus.

Nice place staff warm and welcoming, a bit daunting if your not tech savvy trying to access their app to order dinner, but we managed it. Meal was a good sized portion and it tasted good. Most definitely use it again we we're in the area.

We have been going tonthe Picture House for years. It's kid friendly and my Grandson Dylan is particularly fond of it. I was there recently and I must say the whole experience was a pleasure. Beer, cold, delicious and reasonably priced, food excellent, I had a delicious, chicken katsu curry. Portions are generous and food is lovely. The staff are friendly, attentive and always ready for a joke or a bit of banter. Our server, Kayleig could not have been more efficient and friendly. She took time out to speak to 8 year old Dylan too. Thank you all. We will be back.

Food was good as was the service, plenty TVs for live sport, 5-10mins walk from train station so yeah this will be where i head to next time im in the town

Now, I'm putting it out there, I am a Wetherspoons' Patron and I give no excuse for frequenting a Greene King Bar other than there is no Wetherspoons in Montrose. I have to apologize as well for the photo. I forgot to take one before but I hope the after meal shot says more! A surprisingly sunny day in Montrose, a little windy. Google maps pointed us in the direction of The Picture House. It's well positioned just across from the Tesco's. The decor is welcoming and at two in the afternoon had an active atmosphere. Took the booth at the back on the left. Phone out and app at the ready. Kept it lite as my wife and I had a bit of a walk to do and didn't want to eat too much. Two of the Lunch Club's Southern Fried Chicken wraps with a smokey BBQ sauce, a side of fries and a large coke. We had a pleasurable meal. The Coke was cold and draught but was not weak in flavour which is sometimes the case. The chips/fries were just right, crisp edge, fluffy inside and the wraps, the chicken, perfection with the smokey sauce, mmmm... Total cost, £17.28 Slightly dearer than a similar purchase at a Spoons but well worth it. This has no reflection on the Staff but there was a slight delay to orders as unfortunately the Chef was on his own preparing food. But I think in light of this, the service was exceptional. Definitely will return for another helping of The Picture House.

Friends for lunch was fabulous. Made even better by Callum, he made us feel so welcome. He was so friendly and helpful, made absolutely sure we were having fun. He left on a split shift and we were still there when he came back, so he took time to chat. The food was amazing, I tried things I hadn't eaten before, I will have them again. Thank you Picture House for making our day special

Great fish and chips with scampi only cost under £25 for meal for 2 big portion will be coming back

Nice chain pub in the town centre of Montrose, a stone's throw away from the railway station. Very welcoming and friendly with a chill atmosphere. Good pint of Tennents!

Brilliant place to eat. The staff are wonderfully friendly and the food is amazing.

The lack of staff is unreal the poor waitress Hayley was run off her feet on her own with lots of people eating and the guy behind the bar stood putting glasses away while she ran about trying her best. My partners starter came 10 minutes before I got mine and the burger was peppery as anything and I could not eat it. The place is no where near as good as it used to be. Have to give everything to your waitress Hayley she did her hardest to please everyone she deserves some praise for it

Wednesday 15th 12.30 lunch. My lunch was fantastic, service was great and food was served hot, staff were nice, I would highly recommend the picture house, I'll be a regular from now on �

Absolutely appalled when i went here today , asked for a steak sandwich (medium) it was fatty as hell and the bread was just falling apart � the wee one ordered chicken strips and there was 3 tiny bits � no one came to the table to ask how the food was so i went and mentioned to the young lass at the bar only to get a "oh right" reply i was not offered anything in return! I have been going here for ages and im bloody disgusted, i will NOT be back!

What a transformation, the newly renovated PH is the place to be. Fab interior and great new menu. Karan and her staff are so friendly, excellent service and nothing is ever too much bother. Keep up the great work, PH is once again my favourite venue, a flash venue is nothing without great staff like Karan and her team !!!

Through in Montrose for the weekend from Glasgow Came across this place and wasn’t disappointed Even with the Rugby on Tv the service was great Came back at night for dinner, 2 mains for £10.99, 2 desserts for £7 and a Pitcher of Long Island £9.49 Will need to come back for the Gin offers lol Highly recommended ���

Ordered food and they said it would be 1/2hour wait<br/>after 3/4hour wait when asked they said another 15minutes<br/><br/>fathers day dads eat free advertised<br/>when the bill was queried they then asked the manager to change the amount<br/>no sorry or anything<br/>food was ok but how you get an onion ring in a portion of chips<br/>or steak pie with carrots/ broclli /cauliflower and one pea ends up on your <br/>plate make you wonder about the kitchen hygene<br/><br/>will not go back very soon

Diabolical Rude Service. The worst service I have every experienced, not just poor service, but blatantly rude, truly unbelievable. A number of issues - <br/><br/>1) We requested hot water to warm the baby bottle and food. They refused saying they cannot give us any for health and safety reasons. We challenged saying they give us hot coffee if we pay for it, why not water to feed a baby milk and food they do not sell. They refused!<br/><br/>2) Just before we left, my baby was very sick. We tried to clean it up and went to the bar and apologised, explaining the baby had been ill and asked for cleaning materials so we could clean it up. They actually said to us "I am glad you are going, we should have asked you to go ages ago as we think you have had enough alcohol as you have children with you" Needless to say, we were absolutely speechless (30% of group had wine, others non drinkers due to babies and driving)<br/><br/>3) When we complained to the Supervisor about this and when I asked who owned them for a complaint, he said they'd send me a £50 voucher if I complained, but he could make this go away by giving me a £30 then. I said this would make a contribution towards the awful and insulting service and they he changed his mind and said "actually write to the head office to complain"<br/><br/>It was almost although we were waiting for a camera to come out for a joke scene. Truly astonishing! Visit the Picture House if you would like awful service, suffering imposed on your baby and insults. They have a serious staff problem there.

12th july (not impressed). Took my family today to the picture house, where do i start on this review. here we go.<br/>1. they advertise the kids eat for 1.00 this happens which is a great advertisement.<br/>2. we ordered 1 x rump steak, 1 x large haddock, for the kids from the kids menu we ordered 1 x chicken nuggets, 1 x macaroni cheese. to drink we had 1 x pint of tennants, half pint tennants lager, 1 x capri sun for the kid and 1 x can irn bru. total cost for all 28.70. seems a lot dearer for the standard of the meal and service.<br/>3. Service: very poor service from the staff. an employee brought the food over and said "i will get you some cuttlery" this he did but then dumped them in the middle of the table, poor service standards there.<br/>4. When i got my meal which was a rump steak, it mentions on the menu that it will come with onion rings. this did not happen instead once i had started my meal an employee came over with two onion rings on a seperate plate, which i told him i did not want them as they were meant to come with the meal. so he took them away. once again poor standard.<br/>5. the haddock no seasoning on it and was a very bland meal. poor standards.<br/>6. Overall not impressed with the standard of presentation of the food delivered and the service, " Wont Be going Back" and living in montrose i am sure the word will spread maybe there are other people had the same view. not good overall on all fronts.

Ugh! Too much hype, having been to this pub/restaurant a good few times, I have to say I have tried to like it. And now I'm admitting defeat. The first time 3 complained about meals at our table and the staff spent more times laughing with their friends than serving the customers. Another time lipstick on a glass that just came out the glass washer so clearly not hot enough, I asked for a new one and was met with a frown and it poured into another glass. I left. The food isn't bad if all your after is a cheap meal, but defo not impressed overall

DULL.....!. This place opened last year and It'll be closed next year!!!<br/><br/>I wasnt a fan of MacKays (venue b4) but it had customers<br/>I place is always dead and the menu is all mircowaved and deep fried crap!<br/><br/>The service is poor and I wouldnt waste the money! Theres no customers and its DULL! OMG

Top Notch Pub Grub. Having been in The Picture House on a few occasions I feel the need to give it a good review. Decent drinks offers, nice friendly staff and most importantly a cracking atmosphere. Easily the best pub/restaurant in the whole town!<br/><br/>The staff are helpful and refreshingly not too pushy, the bar is always clean and warm something which can't be often said of the other pubs in the area. All together a big thumbs up!
