Lovely old Inn with some accommodation in the converted Malt House at the rear.
After being in North Wales for the last few days we decided to stay in Shropshire on our return journey after being recommended it by someone we met that included Much Wenlock.
Basically looked for a reasonably priced accommodation and this property was available and we booked in the morning for arrival that night.
Really great choice as obviously it's historical and I love to see buildings of it's age still being used for the purpose they were originally built for.
Both our evening meal and our breakfast were lovely.
Did have a couple of ales plus dessert as it was our final night so the price is a little more than you might pay if you're more frugal.
Definitely recommend visiting here if you're visiting the area.
Just one slight thing the car park is small and almost impossible to find without directions but it's next to a public car park so not horrendous.
Enjoyed an excellent lunch today. I had home baked chicken and mushroom pie. Real home made but a little more than I could eat. Felt guilty leaving it. My wife had fights. Both served with garden peas and plenty of chips, with the added bonus of an extra jug of gravy. Couldn't fault anything.
Booked 3 nights .... tonight is our last THIS TIME! We will certainly be returning! Super accommodation, excellent breakfast with great quality produce and the pub itself is cozy, offers great quality food and the staff are absolutely fab - Jay and Will in particular! It's been a brilliant base for discovering historic and stunning parts of Shropshire.
See you soon, Paul Camp and Amanda Di Trolio x
The reason for our visit was our friends were staying in Much Wenlock for a week & on Monday 11th it was Wil's birthday. We have been to Much Wenlock many times & liked the Talbot Inn. We booked a table for lunch & also B&B for one night. The lunch was excellent together with the service. Our room was in a separate block No 5 on the top floor. The room was lovely, clean, & comfortable & had a great en suite everything you could want. The breakfast the next day was excellent. Everything was faultless even the beer. The reason for all being so good is the brilliant staff who are friendly, polite & extremely helpful. I want to say a particular thank you to Jay who was so kind & thoughtful & made Wil's birthday perfect in every way.
Lovely little place, nice rooms with plenty of space. Good hearty pub food, traditional ales and very nice staff too
Found a room at short notice and wasn't disappointed. Didn't get a chance to have a drink as was visiting relatives in Coalbrookdale. Room was very clean and comfortable, and the full English breakfast was really good. Have booked again for a couple of weeks time, so will definitely have a pint there .
Excellent pub meals, hearty and reasonable quality.
Grear real ales and a good wine list. Service outstandingly friendly and helpful.
I can't comment on the accommodation because we went there for lunch. Nice atmosphere, great service, the food was excellent and it was good value for money. In my experience I'd highly recommend it!
Visited this establishment on Saturday 29th July 2023 with the Lawley walkers. We all had lunch & drinks. The food and drink was first class and the staff were excellent. Really nice place and well worth a visit.

Ideal central location in the centre of the town with direct access to a public car park behind. Historic pub with smart rooms in the old brewery building behind. Friendly, relaxed atmosphere with 3 real ales on and food. Enjoyable breakfast and ideal for exploring the town. Living history 😊
Had lovely meal Thursday evening really good friendly service much credit to staff.
We didn't stop overnight, so i can't comment, but the food is fabulous, and we really enjoyed our Sunday lunch, we will definitely be going again 😋 10 out of 10...
