Top Class!! A wonderful experience altogether!!! Tastiest curry I have had in a very long time. Firstly, and I think fore-mostly, this restaurant is blessed to have such experienced, friendly staff - giving us such great recommendations too!! The food was so tasty; it really was special; the flavour and the heat were harmonious. This is better than many Indian restaurants I (and my family too agree) have had the experience to dine in. We will be telling all our friends and will be back soon.

We absolutely love the food from Shish Mahal. The friendly staff always aim to please and nothing is ever too much. We have never had a bad experience to date.
If you're in the area, do give it a try. Even if you're not local to it, it's well worth the short drive to Musselburgh just on the outskirts of Edinburgh. There is free parking available directly outside.
The purees are a MUST try especially the chicken & prawn ones! Actually the chickpeas too......all 3 are just delish! 3 of our favourite items from their starters menu! You can't have a Shish Mahal without their Special Purees.
Highly recommended for a night out if you like good traditional Pakistani/Indian cuisine. They also offer a collection or delivery service with friendly courteous drivers.
Trust me when I say you will definitely be back for more. It's also highly advisable to book in advance when the races are on because it's always a full house!

Food was fantastic best korma I have ever had. Service was brilliant.
Food and service was that good that a ÂŁ20 tip was going to be left, but they did not return with the ÂŁ4.90 change from the bill so ended up with that as there tip instead. (You missed out lads) will be back again for sure.

Food always decent. Should offer a better variety of condiments with popadoms like other Indian restaurants. The owner spend 30mins on face time loudspeaker that was a big distraction. Great service when kamal is on shift but it’s tough otherwise. Wouldn’t buy a coffee as it’s instant and cheap

Pricey but probably the best Indian food I’ve had. Staff treated us great, and although there was a long wait for the food they did warn us of it when we stepped in the door as they had issues opening up earlier.

Another brilliant meal on Saturday. Nice to see the A team working so great friendly service as always. Everything was brilliant but a special shout out to the Shish Karai Murg truly fantastic. It is always great but just amazing on Saturday. So good to have such a fine restaurant in the Burgh and for no need to trek up town or elsewhere....will be back very soon!! Thanks to Mr Khan, front of house and the chefs in the kitchen great job!

If you enjoy Indian food this this restaurant the shush Mahal is a most visit. The restaurant may not be the biggest, but the food was fantastic. A good section of starters and main meals and very good portion sizes. One of the biggest nan breads iv ever had. The staff were very friendly and helpful and also took the time to tell take photos of are large party and join in with all the fun we had.

1 star is even optimistic. Such a shame, Shish Mahal was always the place to go and we have always recommended them but that's a couple of really bad meals and experiences we have had. Tonight we spend over ÂŁ30 and received;
* Rice which was fine
* 1 poppadum #1 all smashed up
* 1 cold soggy naan
* 2 cold salty and oily currys with very little chicken
* 1 portion of small, cold and rubbery chicken pakora
Phoned in to give feedback because we have always liked them but shouldn't have bothered. Any recommendations for a decent Indian take away in East Lothian required.

We went in as we were in Mussleburgh, and wanted to avoid rush hour on the bypass.
Hadn't seen or heard of the place before.
It was empty when we arrived, but fairly busy with takeaway orders.
Served straight away.
Poppadoms , onions and chutney came out in minutes.
Main courses arrived as soon as we were ready for them.
Good sized portions. Saag Paneer was excellent. Loads of cheese.
Rice and chapattis were just right.
Coffee was fine, even got the After 8s with it.
Very friendly staff.

Ordered a delivery on Saturday night, waited 2 hours for delivery.. food came and it was absolutely terrible and cold! Chicken Bhuna was so spicy that we couldn't even eat it! Rice was all stuck together and very dry, and we ordered a garlic nan bread and got a plain nan delivered! Phoned and complained to be told that we would get half the money back.. delivery driver came with half the money he was very rude that he had to walk up to our flat with the ÂŁ10! That I didn't come down for it (is that not his job to deliver to your door !!!) giving me abuse saying the food was not cold.. how he would know this is beyond me!! Will definitely not be back!!!!!

Picked up a meal tonight for a carry out despite my wife warning me not to go there. It was dreadful! Prawn tandoori that tasted of rubbery nothing, samosas and chicken pakora that tasted greasy and the same, lentil Dahl that tasted of curry powder etc etc. The cherry on the cake was a sauce that looked like **** and there was no way I was tasting that. ÂŁ36 of crap.....never again

Very disappointed preordered at 4pm order didnt arrive till 6.30pm well passed the till quoted 1 of our main dishes missing chips were stone cold pompadoms were crushed to bits and very little meat in the dishes totally spoiled my birthday felt embarrassed for my guests ÂŁ97 down the drain a refund would have been good!!!!

Useless - placed the order on-line -they got it wrong !! Only six prawns in a £12.95 curry the sauce was tasteless and watery ! Just finished and I’m hungry ! Used to be a weekly customer so disappointed!

Food was very nice, service was very poor!!! Myself and 3 friends were the only customers all night (apart from people popping in to collect their orders) there was not one smile or any show of friendliness all evening in fact the older of the 2 gentlemen was very dour and quite abrupt for that reason I doubt I will be going again!!

Love the food, although last time starters were cold. Currently waiting on meal being delivered, booked online for 6.30 - 7.00 delivery, phoned at quarter past 7 and it's going to be at least another 30 mins!! Really need to get your act together with delivery times

We had phoned our take away at 5:30 on a sunday night. By 7 there was no sign of the delivery so phoned to see where it was and was told it was seconds way, then at 7:45 we still had no sign of our delivery so called again. We were them told that the printer wasn't working despite being told at 7pm it was seconds away. We werw treated as if we had done something wring on the phone. We got no reasonable explanation and were given no apology, after waiting nearly 3 hours we resorted to making our own tea. They do not care about their customers and we will 100% not be ordering from here again or recommending to family and friends ever again! Absolutely disgusting how we were treated on the phone!! Will not be stepping foot near here again, stay away!!!
