We stopped here for much needed refreshments after a long walk along the canal in the heat. We were given a warm welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Staff made sure we were comfortable and gave us nice cold glasses of water. We had a cream tea (scone was delicious), bakewell tart and coffee, it was all lovely! There is a nice little courtyard at the back. We'll be back next time we are in the area.

Lovely little stop for an early lunch after visiting the food market. Loved the pot of tea, old school with tea leaves & the smoked salmon sandwich was delicious & served in super soft fresh bread! Will definitely be visiting again soon 😊

We couldn't fault the food and drinks, all arrived warm, well presented and full of flavour. At first the owner came across as friendly and quite a character which we found endearing, however our opinion quickly changed when she shouted across the cafe to her staff, barking orders at them as if they were children. We felt the staff looked embarrassed. It was uncomfortable to watch.

Visited today for the first time, we will return. We were directed upstairs where there were about 12 tables in 3 separate rooms. The stairs are quite steep, be warned. We both ordered a club sandwich with roast turkey and smoked bacon and crisps and a salad, it was delicious and a very decent portion. We also had a pot of tea, which was a very generous size, it comes with strainers as they use loose leaf tea, nice touch. We then ventured downstairs to buy cake to take out and the guy and young lady who served us were both so lovely, top service. The cake has now been consumed and declared delicious 😋

Friendly, nice coffee, lots of interesting seating areas inside, and a quiet pedestrian street to enjoy outside. Those caramel shortcakes look amazing too!
Only negatives are that it's definitely on the higher end price-wise and there's no WiFi. Suspect I'll still be popping back before the end of my stay in Nantwich though!

We came to Nantwich to take our dogs to the vet hospital, found this BEAUTIFUL bakery & cafe where we had the most delicious food.
I ordered the beef and vegetable pastry. Oh my goodness - best pastry I’ve had in a while. Buttery, flaky, thick pastry with lotsss of yummy filling. Will definitely return.

Absolutely delightful little place, plenty more space to sit down than it looks like from the outside.
Very friendly staff, delicious food and plenty of gluten free options.
I had the chilli cheese toast with spring onions and a griddled egg, it comes with two large pieces of toast and is very tasty.
I had the dirty Chai for a drink, which was also superb

Wow! A big thank you to the team at Ginger and Pickles who made our wedding cake, including a vegan top tier for the bride. We were blown away by the team's responsiveness, professionalism, and service. Thank you all very much indeed!

Characters are what make a place distinctive in its identity. Within ginger and pickles among its very lovely staff, is one particular woman who we always see, who’s just the thriving energy of the place! She’s definitely one of the reasons we go back, along with its tasty coffee, and salivating well cooked and delicious food. I don’t think we have ever been disappointed - even on busy days. Recommend! Even if you want to just drop by for a cake and a tasty coffee.

Went there for lunch and it was very nice, I had a man size veggie wrap which came with salad and crisps, my wife had tomatoe soup and a cheese scone we had tea for 2 and the price was around £22 good value, my only fault was the scone had not been baked for long enough and it was a bit stodgy.

Lovely little café, amazing cakes. Really friendly staff. Well worth a visit!

Lovely service and great food. Staff forgot my sausage on my strongman's breakfast but quickly came back with 2 sausages.

Super friendly staff, had a short wait for a table (arrived just before 12). There's a great selection of food and drink, I was really impressed with their selection of teas. Our food and drinks arrived quickly (drinks first) despite being seemingly busy inside. I had a gunpowder green tea and a crumpet stack and it was absolutely delicious. Just enough food for me to have room for one of their amazing melt in the mouth chocolate brownies. Highly recommended!

They catered for our small wedding. It was delivered on time and beautifully presented and tasted delicious. Would highly recommend.

A hidden gem. Been passing this every morning on my walk and decided to visit today. Excellent coffee and toast, very generous portions, very nice coffee, you won't be disappointed. Will visit again.

I visited here today for afternoon tea for my nans birthday, the first time visiting after being told how fab it was and rated one of the top ten in the county! We had a lovely welcoming on arrival and we're shown to our seats. I was amazed by the standards of this place, when the afternoon tea came it is looked absolutely amazing and couldn't wait to tuck in! Everything was finished off on the tier as it was unbelievably delicious! Service was fab and staff were lovely! I'd definitely be going back again and I highly recommend to anyone! Thanks again to everyone there, me and my nan had a lovely time and 1000% be back sometime soon!

If this is the top tea room in Nantwich then I shudder to think what the others are like. I appreciate that we were a party of 11 including a baby and we visited on a Saturday lunchtime, they were busy but how hard is it to put an easy order together, few cups of tea, couple of cream teas and a cheese sandwich for my granddaughter. Cream teas were brought up without the teas! Asked twice for cheese sandwich to be brought out, It took so long I ended up going to another shop to buy a snack for my granddaughter to see her through. Like I say they were busy but people were receiving cooked food that was ordered after we arrived! If you can't cater for large groups or those with babies say so.

Food was average, served in a very cramped environment. We were sat in a corner completely blocked in by two tables, this posed a potential fire hazard, the waitress passed hot tea over two customers heads - really dangerous in any circumstances. Vacating the cafe proved difficult due to how the tables are placed two diners had to stop earring to allow us to exit. Biggest disappointment was the standard of food which was poor and there was no choice of tea I was given a perfumed tea (which is probably expensive) I don't like perfumed tea so I was unable to drink it so I had to leave it I would have asked the waitress to change it but there was no opportunity. We left feeling that we had been over charged for a distinctly average lunch which is a shame as the place looked lovely. We won't recommend or visit again as for £30 we could eat at far superior venues - Getliffs Yard Tearooms in Leek charge half the price for a hundred times better quality and service being one and Crewe Hall again similar prices but far and away better value.

Lovely find, was passing through Nantwich and stopped for something to eat. Couldn’t have found a better place. Lovely pear, walnut and Stilton salad and a great flat white. Will definitely try to visit again.

I visited Ginger & Pickles today with my colleagues for a cream tea that our manager had booked for us as a treat. She had informed the café two days previous that there would be a vegan in the party (i.e. me). Not only did they make little to no effort to cater for me, I was subtly insulted each time the waitress came to our table.
No soya milk - fine, I ordered a black coffee.
She came back,
Waitress, in odd half whisper: "So I don't want to er...point out the vegan but err..."
Me: "That's me"
Waitress: "Right, so, have you brought your own stuff or...?"
Me:"Erm, no I was told you'd have made me something"
Waitress: "Oh, well, I don't know what! *haha*".
She returned with my colleagues' scones etc.
Waitress: "Apparently there's something for *you*, but I don't know what it is. It'll be a surprise for me as well!"
She returns with ramekin of chocolate sauce(?) with a strawberry in it.
My colleague to the waitress: "Oh, is that chocolate? What's in that?"
Waitress: "I don't know, but it's got whatever vegans can eat in it..."
(I'm not entirely confident that my sauce was actually vegan, but the waitress clearly didn't have a clue so there wasn't much point in chasing it up, and I already felt like I was somehow inconveniencing them...)
She was also a bit blunt with my colleagues but I shan't speak for them. I just know that I have not been made to feel odd or uncatered for by an establishment for two years and it was a shock to receive this poor level of service and attitude from an apparently commended café, especially when they had received advanced notice of my custom. After eating my sauce, I remembered I had some bread in my bag so got that out and spread some of the jam on it. We all left feeling a little uncomfortable, hard done by, and likely to never return.

I went here with my other half for a lovely brunch treat. I ordered us the bellini breakfast. I was disappointed to get a premixed bottle of what is essentially a "pop".. I had expected for the price of £11.50 to get an actual glass of bellini made with prosecco (which they do serve so wouldn't have been difficult). The food was nice, but with a bagel, smoked salmon and scrambled eggs not a lot to go wrong. We did get asked by a couple to join us on our table as it was busy which was a little awkward, I do think staff should sit customers at a table and not leave them to join another table

Been going to the shop and cafe since 2004. Wonderful staff, excellent and consistent food. First choice. Recently opened in Tarporley too. Good luck ... not that you’ll need it

Called in yesterday with my partner and had a lovely Cheshire breakfast...the place was lovely too and the staff were really nice and polite...I would recommend anyone visiting Nantwich to call in and enjoy the food and hospitality.

First visit to Ginger and Pickles with my Mum. Lovely little place and the staff were very friendly. We enjoyed our pot of 'proper' tea and toasted tea cakes.

Four of us arrived at 2pm yesterday and ordered food and drinks. The drinks arrived promptly but 30 mins later the food hadn't. My daughter went to the toilet and overheard one waitress say to another "have they had their food yet". A flustered waitress rushed over apologising profusely that she hadn't put our order through. As my daughter is diabetic they rushed her order through first. The food was ok but not impressed with the service. All they deducted was the cost of the pots of tea. Not impressed.

We went in today with the intention of getting an afternoon tea voucher for someone as a xmas gift. We decided to stop for a cup of tea and some food whilst we were there. One of the members of staff was very rude to my husband when he went to the counter to order food. The tea was lovely, but the food was average (sausage was very/hard as if it had been kept warm in an oven). Needless to say we were disappointed with our visit and left without purchasing a voucher!

Nipped in this Sunday with my daughters for brunch, yes it was busy, yes it was raining and at first I was seated in the courtyard. As time went on a table inside became available, instantly a member of staff asked me I would like to sit inside. No brainer, my girls eventually arrived and ordered our brunch. Top service, top staff, top food and a great atmosphere. Thank you G&P

First visit to this delightfully small cafe, the staff were very welcoming and polite, sandwiches were excellent, I ordered the Ham & Pickle, my Daughter had the Turkey & Cranberry, both were lovely, also we had the most delightful hot chocolate, my Daughter thought hers was the best as she had it topped with fresh cream and marshmallows, I would highly recommend this cafe, we will certainly visit again.....
