I visited this place for a friend, who wanted a photo of the mural on the pub's wall. Having taken the photos, I went inside and found a lively atmosphere, even though it was a Sunday lunchtime. The warmth of the welcome I received from staff at The Hop Pole Inn humbled me. Thanks for showing me round the pub.
The inside of the pub doesn’t retain its original character, which is a shame. It is though decorated in interesting maps and stories.

Lovely landlord, food and also a bonus of a wonderful garden with children's play area. Well worth a visit and reasonably priced.
The place is fantastic and so are the staff the beer is very good we had a bacon sandwich and the food was great if you get chance to go do you will love it will be back soon for a Sunday roast
Had Sunday carvery , gor father's day, as a family event good choice of meats and veg well worth a visit.

Went years back for a carvery...they have now changed hands and honestly stepped up there game to the next level. Reasonably priced and literally such a good meal! Great selection of meat amd veg and actually a great cauliflower cheese..really impressed! Now wanting to go back to try their normal me
Lovely meal fish & chips. Friendly service from the staff made to feel very welcome by the landlord. nothing was to much trouble including a fresh bowl of water for our dog. Will definitely return when next in the area. We'll done. 5 star

The sunday carvery was A-mazing! Choice of 4 meats, lots of veg and crispy potatoes. It tasted out of this world - very reasonably priced. Too full to try the pudding sadly, but will next time 😊

Went there for breakfast this morning and it was pretty good. Not much choice around Wateringbury / Nettlestead for cafes so thought we'd give the hop pole a go. Fair prices and good breakfast (like a home cooked one). No one else in there though and no music or TV in the background so it was pret
Lovely pub you get a warm and friendly welcome , we had the fully loaded hot dog and chips good portions and tastes great we will be back.
Visited as part of a large group and had the carvery. The food was excellent, and the service was first class and friendly. Will most certainly be visiting again.
