We attended as a group of 13 made up of 3 families. We couldn’t fault the service for such a big party with all our drinks and dishes being served exactly as ordered. I enjoyed the garlic mushrooms and the lasagne and was not at all disappointed with these pub classics. Those who had steak pie commented that it was the best they had eaten out. There was an abundance of gravy served with it which was enjoyed with any remaining chips at the end of the meal. Thoroughly enjoyed by all.

We have been here a few times for family meals and it never disappoints. Good food, plenty of options, good beer, good atmosphere, good service. Recommended.

Friends suggested meeting here for Sunday lunch and a catch up... We were not disappointed one bit. My oartner and friends all opted for a prawn coctail starter; I was happy to go 70s; until ordering at the bar I saw a fresh crab pot. Mains of different Sunday roast meats - huge portions. Fantastic food at sensible prices; log burner; great vibe. Will return.

Came here as never been before, can honestly say it’s my new favourite place. It was an extremely busy Sunday yet nothing seemed too much trouble for staff, food was absolutely beautiful and we will definitely be returning

Fantastic fish and chips at The Railway Inn, better than from the chippy!! A brilliant family tea at The Railway in on Friday night. All the food was excellent, tasty, hot, plenty of it, served very promptly and good value. Despite the pub being very busy the service was excellent and nothing was too much bother. Thank you.

I pre ordered a vegan burger the week before and what arrived was what I can only describe as student food, last minute and slipped together. The vegan burger was in fact a pita bread with a few bits of grilled red pepper, far too much melted vegan cheese and some onion rings, where was the burger?? It was bland and just didn’t taste of anything. It came with chips and a very basic salad. They have a long way to go to perfect their vegan menu. The rest of the family (bar one) enjoyed their meals but the vegan burger is honestly the worst meal I’ve eaten and they charged £12.95 even after I told them I didn’t enjoy it. She did offer me a free drink or dessert but I didn’t fancy anything else. I won’t be going back.

9 of us ate here at the weekend for a pre-Christmas get together and for some of us it was our first time and it certainly will not be our last. The staff were very friendly and made us very welcome, the decor is lovely and the food was delicious. 6 of us had the homemade steak pie and it was the best filled pie I’ve had....so much meat in it! The other 3 meals ordered were the the roast turkey, roast pork and the mushroom stroganoff, all were as excellent as each other. A couple of us had the gorgeous hot chocolate cake with ice cream for dessert. Even Father Christmas and his elves turned up raising money for a local charity which went down well with the families in there. A very pleasant afternoon and all at a reasonable cost too. ‘Chewbacca’ sends his thanks to the waitress that served us and please forgive me for not leaving a tip....I completely forgot because I paid by card but I promise to call in again at some point and leave one. Merry Christmas to you all

Visited with our dog last week - food was lovely & excellent service. Was only staying in the area for a short visit otherwise we would have been back again for sure.

The food here is very good. I had roast beef today which was fine. Served with fresh vegetables, Yorkshire Pudding, sage and onion stuffing, (which was very nice and a surprise inclusion), roast, mashed potatoes and lovely gravy. My partner had small fish and chips which was very nice and just the right size. Service was excellent and there was a warming log fire in the restaurant. We shall be returning and would thoroughly recommend.

Everything from arriving to leaving was as usual superb. What a lovely place this is,wonderful staff, excellent food served and cooked to perfection, perfect atmosphere and lovely comfortable seating area. It really is the hidden gem of the area. Due to various illnesses my wife and I have not been here or anywhere else for 3 years and to visit tonight with our best friends was so very special. Thanks to Sue, Bev and the rest of the staff, thankyou so much for a lovely evening!

Have now had dinner here twice, and both times the whole experience has been excellent. The service is friendly, efficient, and quick even when busy. The food is beautiful and plentiful. Have yet to try the yummy looking deserts because the mains are so huge, but will try in future. Plenty of parking, nice modern decor, not surprising can get a bit busy but we've always found a free table. Good value too, two people, two courses, plus drinks under £50 both times. Can recommend combo starter if your really hungry, any of the pies, the lasagne, and the steaks. This now our first choice to go to food pub local to us.

We found The Railway Inn quite by accident whilst staying nearby....the atmosphere, food and staff were all great. The service wasn’t rushed, the food was excellent, in fact we went back aGain the very next day. Nothing was too much trouble. I would definately visit again if in the area.

13 of us stayed at the happy house next to this pub and came here for a meal. The staff are so friendly and can't do enough for anyone. The meals were absolutely amazing. We will definitely be back here and would 100% recommend this place.

Put simply, this pub does the best home-cooked Sunday roasts in the region. Excellent choice for vegetarians too with qourn sausages. The menu has plenty of other alternatives to choose from, which I’m sure are of similar quality, but I can only comment on the Sunday roasts. Both the meat and veggie options are tasty, plentiful and well priced. The staff in this pub are all lovely, the customer service is first class. It’s a really enjoyable atmosphere too. People come here in couples, families and large parties. It’s dog friendly - don’t be put off by that - the cleanliness of the place is of a very high standard. Most dogs sit quietly with their owners! I would highly recommend booking due to the popularity. Thanks Railway Inn for a lovely afternoon today!

I stayed here for 4 nights (see separate review)as they have 4 rooms above,my family was staying at a lodge in Great Hatfield,on my last night here after a day with the family i decided to eat here as i was going home in the morning,as i went down to eat it was obvious they were very busy and i thought here we go a long wait for food bad service and the usual things you get when a place is busy BUT let me tell you after being informed by the lovely (and very capable) Georgia on the bar that they are short staffed the service was the best i have ever seen, smart efficient polite happy staff all pulling together and not letting anything bother them to offer a great service,, hot food ,good portions and have happy smiling customers, all this in a country pub a few miles from Hull wow a real hidden gem, My thanks to all you lovey staff it is so nice to see younger people taking a pride in what they do and have such great customer service skills and attitudes, and What ever they are paying Georgia at the front of the house needs to be increased. Dont take my word for it go and visit and experience this great eating place.

We stayed at the Railway Inn on Saturday for one night. Our first impressions were very favourable - as soon as we entered at approximately 6.00pm we noticed that the place was extremely busy. The dining area is deceptively large and full of diners. There are only three bedrooms and ours was extremely welcoming and well catered for. It was spotlessly clean with plenty of tea and coffee making facilities and biscuits, also a jar of sweets and bottled water. Our room was rather cold but a small electric heater was provided. Next morning at breakfast we were looked after by a very pleasant and friendly lady with short dark hair. Our vegetarian breakfast was wonderful, piping hot and plentiful, our eggs were cooked 'how we like them'. We met the breakfast chef who was also pleasant and attentive. We had to wait in the bar area from 10.30 - 12.00 for a lift from our niece - due to a mix up. We met Luke, as seen on 'Four in a Bed' - a delightful and friendly young man who made me a pot of tea for no charge; also Bev a lady working behind the bar. The only slight disappointment was Lydia (also from 'Four in a Bed'), who several times came into the bar area near where we were waiting with our luggage (they were all preparing for opening time). It was obvious we were guests from the previous night because the pub hadn't opened yet. We knew who Lydia was from the TV programme but she didn't glance in our direction or make eye contact with us once, not even asking if we had enjoyed our stay. Despite that we enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend the Railway Inn to anyone and is definitely a 5 star establishment.
