Cafe Rouge

What Cafe Rouge does, it does well. French styled cuisine is always served well and taste good. I find myself enjoying having lunch there rather than dinner however, as my only criticism I have really is that there doesn't seem to be much active innovation in their menu. By that I mean that I've been there a few times over the course of the year and not often is there a change of menu, there may be one or two new dishes but not much. Considering the menu is pretty streamlined anyway (which isn't a bad thing if you don't visit often), it sometimes leaves you feeling like you've "settled" for a dish rather than being excited at having to choose from numerous new options. Don't let this dissuade you from a visit though, as I said, what they do they do well. Steamed mussels and the steak is always enjoyable and their new (yes new) beef bourginon burger is lovely as is the regular version. The manager is always happy and provides great service.

We went her for an early Christmas party. The staff were very accommodating and very attentive. The food choices were very good all though we ordered from their set Christmas menu. As a large table I was impressed as all our starters arrived hot and in a timely manner. Unfortunately one of the main courses was forgotten and we had to wait for them to cook a new one. After this mishap they offered 50% discount to our drinks bill, even though designated drivers get free soft drinks. Overall O would recommend this place to anybody looking for some good food at food prices.

Really nice food the staff is always nice too, knocked a star for inconsistency as every time we go we use our Tesco club card points and sometimes we get the whole meal and drinks for free and sometimes we get told that we need to pay for our drinks and as a shock yesterday for a family of 4 we had to pay £30 worth of drinks (no alcohol) and wasted £30 worth of our clubcard points ps. The donuts and camembert breaded starter out of this world and I would I would share the donuts next time as it was quiet a lot for one person.

Absolutely amazing, came here for Valentine’s Day and blew me away. I got the share platter starter with my boyfriend thinking that some of the thing on there I wouldn’t eat and would leave for him as I don’t normally like them however I was wrong, everything on the platter was delicious. The service was brilliant the staff were very friendly. Would 100% recommend.

What a pleasant surprise! I knew cafe rouge would deliver a good meal for a late valentine's. But didn't realize it would be so good that it competes with a two rosette restaurant back down in Bournemouth (Neo). I can't believe that this lovely restaurant isn't at least rated one rosette. Fantastic service, fantastic friendly staff. Will definitely be coming here again. Overall think this is the best restaurant in Newbury town centre!

Absolutely perfect night out with the girls. Gorgeous food gorgeous company and the BEST waiter we have ever been served by. ASTON was absolutely fabulous , funny, well hilarious,friendly we were all in tears laughing. Just made the night !!!!!!! EVERY restaurant should have an ASTON in their team. Cafe Rouge he deserves a raise. 😉
