This place is OK and that’s it ! £65 for 2 is well overpriced for the food they serve there is half a dozen restaurants in South Shields that knock spots of this place and at leas £20 cheaper Won’t ever be back

The food was a delight to eat! We have never tasted food quite like this, every mouthful was full of flavour and so 'light' really hard to explain but it was just delicious. Nothing was greasy or heavy and it was just literally perfection on a plate. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and especially the lobster. We will be going back to Newcastle just for this restaurant.

From the moment we entered, we were treated to a first class, enthusiastic and warm welcome. It was clear, immediately, the intention was for guests to have a 1st class dining experience, with a sense of receiving a very personal tailored experience - and this was achieved completely. We were shown to a comfortable seating area, to examine the menus and were offered drinks with poppadoms and a pickle tray, appearing seamlessly... We discussed our dietary requirements, and were then shown to our table in a very relaxed and sophisticated dining space. Further attention was then paid to our dining needs and our order arrived along with a recommendation for a glass of house Malbec: delicious and well-matched. The food was absolutely delicious, well cooked and very tasty - we could not have asked for more. All in all - accepting this Indian Brasserie IS a little more pricey - we had a totally brilliant evening, with superb food and we really enjoyed the warmth of the local banter...it was totally worth it. For us: highly recommended. Thanks.

Amazing food, amazing drinks and amazing staff!! I won a competition for a £100 bar tab and the new gin menu didn't disappoint! Absolutely fab range of gins! Thanks again to all the staff for a great night!!

Great staff and ambience here: special mention to Rafi, who looked after us like we were minor celebs. The food's fantastic, with genuinely the best Madras I've had in Newcastle (actually, Gateshead). Not the biggest selection, but the quality is just off the scale, which is what counts. There's a really impressive drinks menu with all the classic beers to accompany Indian food, with a serious gin menu too. Value was very reasonable: two posh gins, starter, two mains & two sides came to about £50, so no complaints there. Thoroughly recommended for spice lovers.

I popped into Raval last week for a bite to eat on my way back from shopping in town. Immediately I was made to feel welcome and sat down with an amazing cocktail before I chose my food. I only ordered a small amount of food, but I was left very satisfied. The chicken was perfectly tender and full of flavour. The meal was well balanced, not too heavy or too light, and came with gorgeous dips. The staff are very professional and friendly; they provide an excellent and attentive service. Inside the restaurant, the decor is modern and stylish, not something I've seen a in other Asian restaurants. This place is a hidden gem! Amazing staff, beautiful restaurant, gorgeous food and everything was priced very affordably too. I'll definitely be back with family and friends!

Just before Christmas my wife and I were staying overnight in Gateshead after a Kate Rusby Christmas concert. We had planned to visit the Raval as it had very good reviews and was the closest to the venue. As the concert ran on beyond time we eventually got to the resturant with only 30 mins prior to closing. We asked if we were too late and we were welcomed to a professional and calm service, no accounting for time we enjoyed some of the best asian food we have ever had, The service from Aaron our waiter was calm, professional delivered with humour and skill. We cannot recommend this restuarant enough. They continued to serve us well after closing time and at no time did we feel as a burden or inconvenience. We are returning to Newcastle in the spring and weill certainly be making a return visit.

Was greeted by owner and was prompted seated in lounge area for drinks to choose our meals whilst our tables were getting sorted. Once seated, the poppadoms arrived quickly with the trays and so did our mains. All 3 were delicious and the coriander nan was to die for. Mum especially enjoyed the sea bass. They had lovely soft jazzy music in the background with tasteful decor and comfortable seating. The service was exceptional.

My daughter and I received a very warm and friendly welcome from the staff of this excellent Indian restaurant. They continued to be attentive and efficient throughout our stay and were very conscious of the fact that we needed leave on time to be at The Sage for a concert. The meal was excellent. Starter of chicken tikka was lovely. The mains of Chicken Korma and Chicken Jalfreizi were beautifully cooked as was the rice and peshwari naan bread. We didn’t ask for any popadoms and pickles but we were brought them anyway “on the house”. The carrot and coriander pickle and the one with pineapple in were very tasty and original, a change from the normal lime pickle etc. It was very reasonably priced. We recommend it for a pre concert/show meal. Will return!

We had a family gathering where all were happy to eat spicy food except my wife who does not like any spice at all. On arrival, the Manager took time to discuss with her what she would like and prepared sauces which were non spicy for her to initially try. He did this separately from the main party to avoid any embarrassment on her part. When her meal was presented at the same time as the rest of us, it was similarly beautifully presented on the plate but with the sauces she selected. Brilliant food and exceptional customer service in great surroundings. Mr Michelin should visit!!

Only people in prior to a gig at The Sage. What a great restaurant. Food was fabulous. Staff were excellent, only wanted a main course but management out of his way to ask us to try their popodoms and pickles for free. What a great place to eat. Will definitely be back and there is a car park nearby. Is excellent as a pre or post meal for The Sage.

Came here for a meal on business with 8 of my colleagues on monday, we were all SO impressed! All our starters were amazing, I had the dhal (side portion) as my main. But the star of the show was my goan fish curry, it was everything I wanted it to be. Best curry I have had in years. The service was exceptional, so attentive and friendly. Loved the whole thing, thank you! Please change your tip policy to include card tips, as many of us dont carry around cash anymore and it makes me really sad I couldnt tip properly as no one had any cash.

I returned to Raval again and had a great evening with my daughter. First class food and service in a lovely setting...practically on the Tyne Bridge. Already looking forward to my next visit.

Had a wonderful Saturday evening with family at this restaurant! Food was wonderful, nicely cooked, presented and served; excellent value! Staff were all very friendly, enthusiastic (without being 'over-the-top') and professional. Altogether, a rare combination and the restaurant was an excellent find. Very pleased!

had a fantastic meal at Raval on Saturday with my husband. Made to feel very welcome as soon as we walked in. Great selection of Gins and other drinks. We both ordered prawn dishes: King prawn Bhuna (delicious!) and Mangalore King Prawn Kada (amazing!) with basmati rice, Pindi Chana & coriander naan. The flavours were outstanding and very well presented. All the staff were very friendly and helpful and the restaurant had a lovely ambiance. We will definitely return when we are back up North. Thank you!

Went for a meal on Friday and had an amazing time! The restaurant was clean, smelt amazing and was nice and quiet although we did go quite late. I ordered a mocktail off menu and the Barman made an incredible one. He served us throughout the night and blew us away with his exceptional customer service. Massiveeeee thank you Aaron for going above and beyond! Food was fantastic but you were without a doubt the best part! Never change x thank you

Felt compelled to write this review before the bill even arrived because I was blown away with how good the food was. Best Indian meal we’ve had in a long time and staff are excellent. Highly recommend!
