After a journey from hell into Newcastle we stopped at a Côte Brasserie which is a couple of minutes walk away from the train station. For a Wednesday night the restaurant was quite full. It had a lovely ambience and warmth as soon as we walked in. The friendly waiter greeted us and seated us to a table where our suitcases would not bother anybody.
We ordered some alcoholic beverages, I doubled up on my gin and tonic. Côte Brasserie is a French inspired restaurant with a number of these chained restaurants across the UK.
My colleague ordered the Chargrilled 8oz Ribeye steak with frites and garlic butter. He was impressed with the steak as it melted in his mouth and was not chewy. I tried a few of the frites which were perfectly crisp. I ate the Seabass with a side of artichokes and green salad. I was surprised I had two pieces of seabass in my plate. The fish was delicious and cooked to perfection. The artichokes were a little plain. I prefer mine marinated and these were steamed. Overall a wonderful dining experience, especially the service. The waiter was very attentive. The restaurant knew how much of a hassle it was to get to Newcastle so they actually put the drinks on the house! I love the Newcastle hospitality! Thank you for making us feel welcome and I will definitely dine here again!
Absolutely marvellous breakfast experience! Beautiful interior and great service, the scrambled eggs were divine, the French black pudding was a positive surprise and the pastries were fresh and baked to perfection. The only issue was that the temperature of the food could be higher when it was brought to us - it cooled down fairly quickly. Other than that I loved it and can't wait to be back!
Walked in on Friday night and got a table despite being busy. Service was great and quick. Food was excellent, fish stew was outstanding. Crème caramel was lovely. GF menu was the reason we went, food is always excellent.
My First time visit COTE in NCL
It was delicious crème brûlée it was a such a nice treat! Perfect high quality and the taste and texture reflects that. These are super smooth and creamy without being too heavy or over the top sweet.
A fantastic first visit for my partner and me. We were a bit skeptical initially but we were proven wrong every step of the way. The staff were warm and welcoming. The food was exceptional and in generous proportions. Will definitely be coming back very soon. Cotê was the highlight of our day.
Henry gave us a very warm welcome and a lovely table and produced gluten free menus without being reminded. The food and service were faultless
Called in on the off chance late in the evening after our original dinning plans collapsed. A warm friendly welcome from staff that proved to be very pleasant and friendly throughout our meal.
Very impressed with the food. Crab starter and French onion soup were really nice. The beef cheek bourguignon was very good and the fish parmentier excellent.
An excellent meal rounded off by a couple of espresso martini crepes. I was heavy handed pouring the sauce, but so what, it's chocolate. Wonderful.
All in all a tasty dining experience.
Delicious breakfast on a Monday morning. Service was friendly and efficient. My croque madame was delicious and my partner enjoyed her veggie breakfast. Only issue was that the waiter sat us right in front of the main entrance... Plenty of other tables so was a little unthoughtful. Asked to move tables straight away.
Cote always seems a reliable option.
Today they had a brunch menu, as well as regular fare. Portions good, (duck a l'orange and Camembert to share as starter) . Service was good and very nice ambiance in Newcastle. Only real comment is that it is perhaps slightly pricey for what it is, especially as we had mostly soft drinks.
Great central location. Food is delicious!!!!! Good selection of wine and very attentive staff. Would definitely recommend for lovely lunch or special dinner. 5*
Was a bit apprehensive about trying here as it looked totally out of my price range, but O.M.G. what an eye opener. Price was totally reasonable for 3 courses and drinks.
Staff were SPOT ON, ATTENTIVE, Couldn't do enough for us. Barman seemed to be a bit unsure but that may just have been the cream problem, however I did get my Irish coffee.
Food was excellently prepared, cooked, and delivered. We have NO complaints whatsoever about the Cotè, and will definately return.
Most enjoyable experience. Thank you.
