Café 21 is a real ‘grown up’ restaurant that is not trying to be anything clever. Simply high quality food and service… I can see why it had so many recommendations. Top place.
We had the ‘Autumn in the city’ 5 course tasting menu which was excellent. The flavours of each dish were very well executed and the portion were just right.
We expected an apple crumble dessert but was advised that the kitchen was not happy to serve it as the quality of the apples wasn’t to standard, therefore we were provided with their baked Alaska dessert instead which was outstanding.
Lovely experience and would definitely visit again next time we are in town.
For my starter had the natural oysters while my wife had the tempora oysters with mayonnaise. For mains I had the rib-eye steak cooked rare while my wife had the lamb. Finally I had the Stichelton cheese while my wife had the chocolate soufflé. Overall the level of service and food was excellent.
