La Yuan - Newcastle upon Tyne - Photo album

Absolutely lovely food, a lot of it is quite spicy in a very complementary way to the food. Such a wide variety of foods and dishes too. I can’t decide what’s better, the cocktails or the food — really great place.
Best chinese food in Newcastle by a mile! Try the Gong Bao chicken and the jellyfish salad, you won't regret it. The staff was very helpful and friendly and the atmosphere and setting are particularly lovely. Highly recommended.
Really really good. Having tried the real thing in Chengdu, this was as good as many and better than a few. Fantastic dan dan, fat and juicy dumplings and well seasoned belly pork. You want me to pick a fault? The aubergine dish was a little weak in terms of texture and spice (perhaps over-sauced)
Authentic and extremely delicious, La Yuan is one of the best Sichuan restaurants we've found in the UK. We make a special point of visiting when we're in the North East- 非常好吃!
Exquisite food, well flavoured and really complex flavours. Staff were friendly, i would definitely recommend. My only criticism was that the toilets were a state which is not a nice sight to see in a restaurant!
Never had sichuan food before so this was a new experience for us all. Great food and waiting staff were top class
This place cooks spectacular Chinese food. The menu is perfectly sized and yet we still couldn't help ourselves but order enough for 6 (we were two!)! Lovely wine and beer selection too! Making this a regular spot!
Absolutely amazing. The food is fantastic and the experience is just really relaxing. You have to check this place out!
Wow. Literally one of the best fish stews I have ever had. So authentic. Eat here. Srsly.
Clean and nice restaurant, food are delicious! Certainly will visit again!
TL;DR - High end Sichuanese cuisine. Good food, friendly service. Slightly expensive, felt a bit cramped inside. A nice range of interesting dishes on the menu. The food is tasty, with interesting flavours and ingredients. Worth a visit if you want to try some authentic Sichuanese dishes in Newcast
A blend of flavors that makes you wonder what you’ve been missing with Chinese food! Very cute little spot with a great atmosphere. Came with a party of six, and though some dishes were designed for a spicy seeking palette, others were could be “reduced spiced” (per the waitress) which made it more
By far the best Chinese in Newcastle. Whatever you do, don't miss the Gung Bao Chicken main and the jellyfish cold dish - you'll thank yourself later!
Sceczwan cooking is fiery hot so be warned but great flavours and very reasonable price. Excellent service. Friendly and very clean. There are less hot options on the menu and they will help you choose the right things. Would recommend.
Difficult to describe as meal was a bit too spicy for my taste but still very edible and flavoursome. Large portions and very fresh. Restaurant spotless with really nice decor that complemented the food. Staff helpful and knowledgeable. Good choice of teas to try.
Best Chinese restaurant I have been to in Newcastle. Authentic recipes greatly executed in a modern environment. The menu has enough variety to cover most tastes but doesn't compromise quality. Staff is very friendly and professional. Would definitely recommend.
